Fire falls and fall will fade,
Summer fire lies in winter grave.
The world is blind and rushes by
the autumn leaves and their goodbye.
But I can hear the whispering wind
that sings that this is not the end
And even though you kneel and cry
because everything you love will die
I wish that you could hear this song
of a fire that was here -
all along.
I challenge you to gaze upon
the forest's fire tears of fall
shed to the winter's wailing call
and storm.
And all you see is dying breath
but this is life, this is not death
An oath for winter's bitter storm
that shouts of a fire forever warm
And even though the fire falls,
and fall does fade -
this is not the last,
long winter past,
the spring will rise
and the fire flies.
