"Check." Jaydee made her last move. Amuse is written all over her opponent’s face.
"Mate!" She exclaimed again. She just won five times in a row. Her opponent smirked. He expected that to happen but he's trying to teach the little girl a lesson. He started replacing the pieces on the chess board.
"Let's play again." He's looking at her as if he's trying to say something. He wasn't expecting that the little girl would agree but she did. He smirked even more.
Sometimes, victory takes over our system, goes right up to our head, then we suddenly feel that we are undefeated.
"G-game!" Jaydee sounded unsure but she still agreed to play another game. She wants to prove that she can beat her dad at chess even at her very young age.
They played another game then after a couple of minutes....
"Check. Mate." He won. Too bad. Jaydee lost her queen at the early part of the game.
We tend to depend on one strength and we think its enough.
"Tsk." She clicked her tongue. Disappointed, she looked at her dad thinking it was just one win against her five wins.
Always remember, opponents are wise enough to observe at the early part of the game and make you believe that you are winning…
"If you didn't eye on my queen and captured it, I could've won." She folded her arms and looked at him intently. She childishly mocked her father.
Until they finally see your strength…
"Exactly my point sweetie. You dwelled so much on your queen. Your strength actually became your weakness. A queen, however strong it may seem, like every piece in this chess it also has a blind spot." He said with conviction.
And use it against you at the end…
She narrowed her eyes then finally accepted her defeat. She wants another game, but she thinks she's had enough. This game, it's just mindblowing. She kept thinking about the lesson she just learned.
And when they have finally turned the tables around…
"I wanna sleep dad. I'm tired." Yawning, she hugged her father sweetly.
That’s when you realize you weren’t really winning from the very start…
You were just too engrossed at the thought that you are winning, but you’ve already lost at that very moment when you let your guard down because you’ve become too confident that you’re actually gonna win.
