02. 3-E Class

As we reach Kunugigaoka Junior High, I was in daze by its size and their very extravagant buildings.

We went to the Principal's office first to know in which class I'm qualified to be in. Gotta be in Class A. I thought, rolling my eyeballs. But as the Principal told us my class, both Dad and I were speechless.

"Eh?" There were no words except my shocked and puzzled reaction.

"You're kidding, right?" Dad reassures but the Principal just shake his head, making my father dumbfounded.

"Apparently your..." Surprisingly, the Principal looked at me as if wondering what should I be called, whether it's son or daughter. Then I looked at Dad who he was waiting for the answer and was smiling creepy, so I mouthed 'Son, please' for this to end as soon as possible.

"Your son is said to be included to the E Class, which is located to the top of that mountain. For counter measurements, we've hired three teachers there for further lookout of students. They could be slacking off or doing something unnecessary while class is on going."

Dad and I looked at the big window to see a small wooden building at that mountain and is where I should go. And as for myself, I am currently wearing a female uniform just as planned.

What? If I wear a guy's uniform then they'll suspect me why I have two mountains. Ain't my fault since I'm basically a female in the first place.

I wrote on my registration slip that I'm really a female. Laughs at that, it's true anyways!

At first, Dad wants me to change into something else besides fiddling skirts and tell the committee of the school that I wrote it wrong but the fact that I'm really a female can't be taken back.

"W-Wait.. there? There must be a misunderstanding here. You see, Araki got an above average in all of her- I mean his subjects from his old school. And to add that he passed the entance exam!" Dad exclaimed, hitting the table infront of us, making me flinch a bit. While the Principal stared at my father with his stoic expression.

Oh no, this ain't gonna end pretty.

As Dad continues his complaint, the Principal finally raises his palm and said the reason why am I suppose to be at the "End Class" as they call it.

"Koutaru-kun," the Principal faced me with a fake smile.

I know he is faking it just by the look on his face.

He was intimidating to look at so I only gulped in response. The moment I looked into his eyes, I saw something.

Something awful about his true colors. Black- that's what I saw.

Ever since I was born, I was gifted by something I call Seek. It was an ability to see through one's soul judging by their color.

Just like in every story, the colors deep within their souls indicate their true intentions to somebody. But sometimes it depends on their emotion and such.

"Tell me honestly, what was your average overall score back in your former school?" When I stop my train of thought, I noticed my Dad started to sweat beads from his forehead.

I tilted my head as I attempt to remember, "I think it was above average of seventy percent or higher than that. I'm not entirely sure, though."

"But is that average combined with every score?" He asked, rising an eyebrow.

Why you so interested, Mr. Principal? He's starting to get on my nerves.

Why you ask?

Because he's being too suspicious! Not to mention, he's the Principal for Kamisama's sake! I hate suspicious people by the way. And for his information, he - himself - asked for an overall average, right? I'm in no position to talk, but still! He could just double check the applications that we gave him for me to transfer here.

I changed my posture and crossed my arms, staring back at the Principal with furrowed brows. "Yes. It is an overall average, Mr. Principal."

Then he smiled as he brushes my messy hair, leaving me irritated for a short minute. There was veins popping out of my head.

Dude, I didn't even bother to brush my hair, so don't even dare to makebit look obvious! But then my gaze went to my father and so did the principal.

"See?" The Principal started, glancing at Dad. "The reason why we cannot include Koutaru-kun in my class, is because he only got the average of seventy. Not to brag, but the entance exam means nothing to us, thus, the decision is up to me whether where to place Koutaru-kun. I really do appreciate for your cooperation but," he stopped his sentence and looked at me.

I looked back at him, and deep within his eyes changed color. It changed into something dark and... something else.

"If we know a student is slacking off or doing something without the knowledge of the committee, we will immediately put him or her at the End Class."

* * *

It's been hours now and we've just reached the top of the hill where students like me who "slacks off" should be. And Dad looks gloomy and depressed all the way to the top so I thought of the best way to cheer him up.

I just hate seeing my dad gets all gloomy and down. It's a habit since he's the only one I keep in touch besides mom. Seeing people like that makes it look like they are giving up in life, and I didn't want that to happen to anybody. I haven't even thought of giving up in my entire life!

A grin appeared on my face. "Hey, Dad."

When Dad looked at me, I knew that instant he was pissed off about the situation. I sweatdropped a bit.

"When I graduate, I'm gonna show that Principal that even a girl that is dressed like a boy, can make it up to the Top 5! I won't slack off, I promise!" I pumped my fist at him with glimmering eyes.

"Araki.. you.." My father said, tearing up.

Then he smiled at last. I grinned as I invite him to go forward and start my day. The school was quite wide and nature is what making it small. Simple but unique.

When Dad and I reached the school building, a man around 20's seem to be expecting us. He's not the type to be funny, is he? I thought as I made my first impression on him.

'Wait, is he... He's looking at me! Don't make any eye contact! Don't make eye contact!'

I keep on screaming inside my head as we slowly walk towards him.

"Ah, you must be the homeroom teacher. I'm Akihito Koutaru, and this is my, um... W-Well, this is Araki. The transfer student from Keikyoin Academy."

Good start.

Dad didn't want to get questioned why am I dressed like this if he said that I'm his son.

The scary dude glances at me, and shortly after he return his look back at dad. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Koutaru-san. And I am Tadaomi Karasuma. I appreciate your arrival even after traveling all the way here," The Karasuma guy said. Gosh, not only his looks are intimidating but his voice is so scary and creepy. And his eyebrows seems out of shape.

"It's my pleasure also, Karasuma-san. Shall we proceed inside?" Dad replied after.

Karasuma nods as he led us inside, where I could hear only silence. Not a single sound could be heard except the squeaking wooden floors.

As we walk down the hall, we stopped infront of a door. There was a sign hanging at the side...

"3-E." I muttered aloud.

I gulped. When suddenly, Dad placed his hands on my shoulder. I saw him smiling as if I'll be leaving the country.

"I guess I'll take my leave. I'm only here to escort you on your way to school. Behave, alright?" He messes with my hair before saying goodbye and good luck.

Enough with the hair habit, people! 😠

I watched Dad leaves as he walk down the hall where we entered as his figure disappear.

"Are you ready?" I looked at Karasuma, then nodded hesitatingly.

"This class might seem a bit different from the others. I expect great things from you, Araki. Now wait here while I say a few announcements." He says.

I don't know what he meant by 'different' but that's what I came here for. Different is my own specialty.

"Got it." I quickly replied with a smirk.
