A/N
I'm imagining this as a sort of dark song with a heavy beat or something. This was my attempt at a Twenty-One-Pilots-like song. Basically, it was a parallel between the fear of darkness and the hateful thoughts we have toward one another. And the line "When I try to not say what I've already said" is basically regretting the pain you caused someone else. (That's my favorite line. And so is "I'm afraid of the dark/I'm afraid of what it makes me do/I'm afraid of the dark/I'm afraid, I'm afraid I'm already consumed.") It also represents the fear of your own mind, how your mind can trick you or confuse you. That happens to me a lot.
Anyway, tell me what you think. Does anyone else like Twenty One Pilots?
For some reason, this song means more to me now than it did when I wrote it. I connect with more of it and interpret it differently and more deeply. Is it weird that I could write something for my future self? Or is that just a weird thought? I don't know.
I'm also trying to put this to music, but it's pretty hard. I'm getting there. So far it's kind of in the key of D minor.
