"Happy birthday to you!" We sang as Ally blew the candles.
As we were about to take a picture, the bell rang.
"I'll get it!" I said excitedly.
"What has gotten into you?" Shawn smirked.
"Just answering the door."
"Hey, Bree!" Johnson pulled me into a hug.
"How's it going, Jack?"
"Not bad, how bout you?"
"Great, we just cut the cake. Go eat." I smiled.
My face fell when I didn't see Gilinsky, but hey at least Johnson is here!
I went to go close the door when Jack appeared.
"Hey! It's no two year old birthday party until G arrives!" Gilinsky laughed then kissed me on the cheek.
I turned red, "Uh, you look great!"
"But not as gorgeous as you."
"That was real cheesy, you're making me lose my appetite!" Shawn yelled from the kitchen.
We laughed and greeted the other guests.
While Jack and Jack went to go give Ally's present, I sat with Shawn who looked pretty lonely.
"No Claire?" I asked.
"I guess she's busy working with celebrities."
"That busy to miss her daughter's birthday?" I scoffed.
"I guess..."
"She'll come around." I patted his leg then went back to my friends from university.
"Hey, Bree do you know if Jack is single?" One of my best friends, Leah asked.
I cringed, "Which one?"
"Johnson, obviously." She said in a 'duh' tone.
"Oh, yeah, want me to hook you two up?" I sighed in relief.
"But don't make it too, obvious." She said.
"He's coming this way, brace yourself."
"Wait, do I look okay?" Leah panicked.
"Since when do you care about how you look?" I laughed. "And yeah you look hot."
Johnson came to sit down, "Hi!"
"Leah this is Jack J, Jack this is Leah."
"What's up?" He and Leah started talking. I left after I realized I was officially the third wheel.
I walked back to the kitchen to see Gilinsky's arm wrapped around my other friend, Madison.
I backed up and bumped into Shawn.
"Woah!" He caught me.
"Sorry, I just need some air." I apologized walking away awkwardly.
"Wanna talk about it?" Shawn must've followed me.
"I don't want to drown you in my boy problems." I looked down.
"Isn't that what best friends are for?" He said.
I shrugged, "If you really want to know."
He leaned back and nodded for me to start talking.
"Well, I thought Jack liked me, but I thought wrong." I looked down.
"My child, you have just encountered a fuckboy."
I laughed, "Wow, this sucks, he really had me going."
"Don't worry about him too much, I should've warned you."
"I wouldn't have listened."
"True."
We both laughed, "You'll find someone eventually."
"Eventually?"
"I didn't mean it like that. There are plenty of guys who, like you are looking for love."
"Wow Shawn you're making me sound desperate!" I laughed.
"I'm really bad at this, but you get what I mean?" Shawn said.
I nodded, "Yeah."
"Good." He said. "Now forget about him and go party."

"Shawn, Claire's coming over." I gave him his phone.
"How'd you get my password?" He panicked.
"It's called notifications, dumb ass."
"Oh thank God." He put a hand over his heart.
"And the year you were born is totally not your password."
"Dude, how'd you-"
I shrugged and walked back to my room.
All of the guests already left. I was also in my pajamas, so why would Claire come now? Ally was also asleep in my room. She and I started having sleepovers which is really fun.
I sat on the bed scrolling through twitter moping about the Gilinsky incident.

I quickly changed out of my pajamas and into something presentable.
Before I got to style my hair, the doorbell rang. I ran down the stairs and opened the door.
"I came to drop off Ally's present." Claire handed me a pink gift bag. "Sorry if this is a bad time."
"Oh not a problem, would you like to come in?" I offered.
"I really have to go, sorry." She smiled apologetically.
I nodded in understanding. Even though I was kinda sad she couldn't stay.
"Is it alright if we catch up another time? Perhaps tomorrow night?" She suggested.
"It's a date." I grinned.
