"no! no, just listen!" was said through giggles, "no, just- STOP TICKLING ME!!"
jisung didn't stop, and he kept his fingers tackle her waist as seorin squirmed around on his bed.
"fifteen is unnecessary-"
"BUT THEY WERE ALL SO CUTE I COULDN'T CHOOSE OH MY GOD STOP" she finally pulled out the classic younger sibling kicking and pushed his arms away, sitting up to take deep breaths
"my hair is probably so fucked now," she whined and hit jisung's arm.
he just smiled like a fool, unable to take his eyes off her flushed face. he brought his hands up to her face to boop the small mole on her nose, making her scrunch up her nose and hold his wrist.
"stop," seorin said through a chuckle and he smiled wider at her in response.
his eyes crinkled and his smile reached his ears. the apples of his cheeks looked more squishable than ever. it was getting harder for seorin to control the sudden cuteness aggression that crept up to her so she pulled him in a bone-crushing hug and squeezed the hell out of him.
"i can't breathe-"
"you're so cute!"
"but I'm gonna die"
"we're all gonna die one day," she said letting go of him
"damn, that's.. deep" jisung heavily sighed
"what would you do if i died before you?" he asked after a minute or two of silence
her response came almost immediately, "kill myself, duh"
he just shook his head at her, "i wouldn't want you doing that.."
"then what would you do if i died first?" she retorted, giving him a look
"i don't know.. I've gotten so used to you in my life now. it's hard to think of a day without you, to be honest.. " he said, looking up at the ceiling. he often did so when they talked about meaningless topics and he was always invested in them. she loved that about him. how he immersed himself in short conversations and always had something to say, even when he claimed he didn't know.
seorin knew he had a different type of wisdom as compared to others, one of the writers and poets of the past. their ideologies and words now reborn in the form of a human named jisung park, a walking proof of how human a human can be.
"would you move on if i died?" he asked a question that itched his throat as he worded it out
"i wouldn't. even if i tried, i just don't think I'd be able to.." she admitted shortly after he asked the question, "i would never be able to love someone as i love you, i think. I'm not promising you anything, I'm just saying what I feel right now- and i just feel like that at the price of loving you; or anyone, really, i need to learn how to let go, too"
they sat in silence, staring at the plain white ceiling of the room. it was a while until seorin felt a weight on her hand. she looked down to see it intertwined with jisung's, who was smiling at her once again.
"you're so corny," he joked, making her snort out a laugh too.
"but seriously, that's the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me. thank you, rin."
before she could reply, a symphony cut through the air and interrupted their moment. it was jisung's phone, ringing loudly from his bedside table and flashing his sister's name on it.
he sat up on his bed fo recieve the call, hand still in seorin's.
as he picked up and began the conversation, seorin felt him squeeze her hand tighter with every passing second. he didn't lay back down with her when he ended the call. he just stared at the door of the room infront of him.
worried, she sat up too and put her free hand on his shoulder.
"everything okay?"
he shook his head, "my uh.. my dad.." he sighed, heavily and took a minute to collect his thoughts.
seorin didn't want to jump to conclusions and make false assumptions so she waited patiently for him to say something while rubbing delicate circles on his hand.
"dad got in an accident and he's severely injured." jisung finally spoke.
