The cold from the Chicago air nipped at your skin. The dark sky was still well lit from the city. People weaved their way through the streets, all too fast and too busy.
You took your time strolling through the streets until you got to the coffee shop you worked at. You unlocked the door and got everything ready for the busy day ahead. The Blackhawks had a home game tonight after a roadie and you were excited to finally see your favorite customer again.
You sat your stuff in the break room and said hello to your coworkers as they came through the doors. You flipped the sign to open and people quickly filed in.
After an hour of rushful people getting their coffee and leaving the person you wanted to see walked in the door. He smiled whenever he saw you and you did the same.
"Connor" You greeted. "You want your usual?"
Connor's eyes roam over the menu and he bites his lip thinking.
"Can i have a holiday drink?" He asks. You nod.
"Of course which one?" Connor shrugs.
"Whichever one you think is best" He answers. You nod and quickly put in his order. He pays and you go to make his coffee.
You write his name on it and put a little heart like you always do.
"Connor!" You call out. He smiles and comes to get it.
"Thank you" He says and walks out without another word. You sigh and your coworker, elise, nudges you.
"When are you going to finally shoot your shot?" She asks. You roll your eyes and just get back to work.
The next day you do your usual routine and as expected Connor comes in again. He orders the same thing that he got yesterday and you make it for him and put the heart by his name again. This time however you put your phone number on the napkin you give to him. He takes it and read the napkin a smile overtakes his lips.
"I'll call you" He says before exiting the building. Your heartbeat races as you watch him. You bite your lip to try and contain your smile.
He did call just like he said he would...
