a helpless soul in the body of a poet.
broken in the same little creaks
where light pours out
from its shelter
into these pages.
it expands
in spaces i cannot hold within myself
it wants to explore
stolen lands
and vaste woods of my past tense
i want it to have space
and i want my body to be it.
hand in hand
i want them to walk
while i stand back
and watch them talk
and i always thought
it would come kind of like a revelation
but it's just hesitation.
i stand and wave
as i make my vow
to never lose either of them.
a smile on my face for every time i got scared
a scar into place for every time i got saved.
