𝖿𝖺𝗅𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗂𝗇 𝗅𝗈𝗏𝖾 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝗒𝗈𝗎. ❫
"What are you doing?" Camila asks, giving Lando a kiss on the top of his head as he sits in his gaming chair.
He takes his headphones off, turning his chair around to face her. "Just listening to Xinnie's song. The new one that she wrote with Hajoon." he replies, and Camila nods.
"I feel like she would be really cute with Hajoon. They compliment each other well ― ooh, you could play matchmaker and set them up together," Camila tells him with bright eyes. She clearly thinks it's a good idea, but that uneasy, sinking feeling in the pit of Lando's stomach returns.
"I don't know about that. She seems... kinda still hung over that one guy she likes." he lies ― he actually doesn't know if Yuxin still likes the person. He also doesn't know who the person is, since Yuxin's refused to tell absolutely anyone.
He thinks he could figure it out.
He knows it's someone on the grid. Charles, maybe. Yuxin is close with Charles, but she's closer to Carlos. But it also couldn't be Carlos, because he doesn't fit the description of the person that Yuxin talks about in her songs.
He doesn't know that he's not thinking of the most obvious option: himself.
Lando thinks that it's most likely Charles. But why does that make him feel uneasy again as well?
"She likes someone?" Camila asks him, with wide eyes. "Yeah. She won't tell me who it is, though. Apparently, all her songs are about that one guy."
"He must be lucky, then." Camila hums.
"Hmm, yeah. I think he is pretty lucky."
Lando Norris is very lucky. He just doesn't know that.
"Perhaps you should help push her and the guy together. I don't know — you're a good friend of hers, so I'm sure she'd be fine with you playing matchmaker," Camila chuckles. "Don't tell her I came up with the idea, by the way — she literally hates me."
Lando furrows his eyebrows. "What? No, she doesn't. What makes you feel that?"
"I don't know," Camila shrugs. "Things always seem awkward between the two of us, and she doesn't really talk to me often. She's your best friend, I'm your girlfriend — and also, it's a little hard to not feel intimidated by the Zhang Yuxin."
"What?" Lando says, as if he had heard the most absurd thing in the world. There was no way that Yuxin didn't like Camila — Lando knows when Yuxin's lying, he prides himself on knowing her well. "No, Cami — she likes you! She told me that she thinks you're sweet."
"I mean, of course she'd tell you that if you asked, since she doesn't want to upset you." Camila says. "It's fine, though. I just haven't seen her a lot, I guess. The times where I have though, I just get the impression that she doesn't like me."
"She might just need some time to warm up to people. She's friendly. She knows you make me happy, and she likes people who makes her friends happy. Xinnie's always been the type of person to care more about others before herself. Sometimes not exactly the best, since she'd rather be upset instead of having someone else be upset. But it comes out of the goodness of her heart." Lando says, and his girlfriend shrugs. "We'll see."
"Do you... like her?" Lando asks, and Camila pauses.
"I don't know. I don't hate her." she shrugs.
"But you don't like her either?"
"Is it bad if I tell you that I don't?" she replies, and Lando sighs, looking at Camila with a frown.
The fact that his girlfriend doesn't like Yuxin leaves Lando with an unsettling feeling in his chest. He doesn't quite like it when people dislike Yuxin — and those words coming from his own girlfriend make him feel quite uncomfortable.
Lando has always felt the need to protect Yuxin, even ever since they were younger. He made sure that words that would make her feel upset never reached her ears, and every single time something or somebody had upset her, he'd be there to comfort her.
But as Camila's boyfriend, he thinks he needs to reassure her that Yuxin truly doesn't feel any negative feelings towards her.
"I mean... she is my friend."
"I don't have to like your friends, do I?" she replies, and Lando frowns.
That reply makes Lando feel very uncomfortable.
"I'll talk to her." Lando says, and Camila shrugs once again before leaving the room.
Lando really can't believe that Camila thinks that Yuxin doesn't like her. Yuxin doesn't really dislike anyone, from Lando's knowledge.
And he doesn't know why Camila not liking Yuxin makes him feel a little... off. Of course, she's not obligated to like Yuxin, but Lando cares a lot about the girl. After all, they have been friends for quite a long time. Lando was there when she wrote her first ever song.
Cami thinks that you don't like her, Lando messages Yuxin. She replies back almost instantly. What? Cami's amazing, she writes. I'd date her if you weren't.
Lando gasps at the message. I can't believe that you're trying to steal my girlfriend, he replies, a smile on his lips.
Believe it, Lan. she writes. What are you doing right now?
Just at home. With Cami. he replies.
Go spend time with her instead of talking to me! She's your girlfriend, for fuck's sake. Yuxin writes back, and Lando chuckles.
You don't want to talk to me, huh? he texts. Don't put words into my mouth, Yuxin types back. Go kiss your girlfriend.
Shut up, I'll talk to you later. Lando replies, before turning off his phone and placing it on his desk.
"She doesn't hate you!" he calls out, and Camila enters his room. "You actually asked?"
"She said that she'd date you if I wasn't."
"That's flattering."
"She's trying to take you from me. I'm heartbroken." Lando jokes, and Camila chuckles. "That's funny. Did you tell her about our plan to get her and Hajoon together?"
"Our plan?" Lando asks. "I... never agreed."
"Why? Don't you think she deserves someone too?"
"I mean, yeah, just... I don't know." Lando says. He doesn't know why this uncomfortable, uneasy feeling returns every single time Camila or anyone else proposes the idea of getting Yuxin and Hajoon together.
Lando thinks he hates it, and he doesn't know why.
"You don't know?" Camila says. "What, is there someone else you have in mind?" she asks, and Lando shakes his head.
"I just... I'm not good at playing matchmaker," Lando lies. He's actually quite good. He just doesn't want to get Yuxin and Hajoon together. He doesn't know why thinking about Yuxin with someone else makes him feel... strange. It makes him upset. He finds it quite weird.
"I'll help you," Camila offers.
"I..." Lando trails off, Camila looking at him with expectant eyes. "Sure, I guess."
Lando thinks he's going to regret this decision.
