A/N: Contract formed and body suffering from the changes, Dain attacks and sabotages Rhine's experiment. However, as his condition grows unstable, Ishtar summons him back to her side. I hope you enjoy the song for Dainslief.

Important Note: Dain's not cursed yet. What you see is his God Familiar Contract at play and the following abilities that came with it. By Contracting with Ista he's gained the Umbra(The same element as Nyxia & Khaos) Element. He can now also access the leylines freely and tend to Yggdrasil as it's gardener. He is NOT immortal, but has been granted longevity. His arm's also not black yet but has the blue scars.

..............................

The sight of the malicious nebula-like aura coming off the knight captain had been one to startle many, frighten even. The ominous glowing blue vein scars on his left side are creeping like a disease. The elemental energy by now having left him very much shirtless, revealing his fine muscle toned body of a well trained swordsman. Alice and Halfdan had tried to stop him but even Alice couldn't get close as Dainslief moved faster than they could keep up. Stumbling and staggering before the eyes of his friends as he glared revealing his eye that fluctuated from his normal pupils to that of a feral beast. The look of venomous snake hissing and fangs bared. That was the impression they got as they heard his voice gravely, laced with pain he had snapped in a language only Alice knew. "Nolite intermixti mecum(Don't Interfere with me)!!"

Alice was stunned, her ears of a dark elf giving a twitch at the words. Dainslief was talking in the lost language...the old language. He was speaking the tongue of the heavens themselves!! "When did he learn to do that?"she wondered as she held up her hand to hold the worried and confused Halfdan back. Halfdan's eyes could not see it but that scar was full of the power of a god, a really ancient one.

"Alice what's going on why is he behaving like this?"pleaded Halfdan.

"Halfdan there are things in this world only an outsider like me can see. But even then I can't tell you for there are things humanity must never know."Alice turned her eyes as she gave a small nod to the blonde knight. If this really was what she thought it was then there was no holding him back. "If he really did do it...he's marching to the beat of the new raw instinct that has given him."she thought firmly. They could only watch as he with purpose continued towards the palace grounds for the wing the alchemists dwelled in. She had seen the monster she was cooking up in there, and it was not pretty.

Dainslief however was quite lucid and sane, despite what the elf was thinking. However as the minutes ticked by his pain was growing with a rising fever. His body is going through violent changes. The contract made him something not quite human but not quite a beast. Everything felt underwater like he had been tossed into a frozen lake. And yet...he never felt so clear headed. He never could have seen so sharply as his senses sharpened. Trails of elemental and soul particles were left naked and bare before his eyes. Like a snake he had purposed and locked onto one particular trail. His left hand touching the wall burning blue under his touch as he stopped the alchemists and soldiers.

Tossing them aside like they were nothing but rag dolls as he shouted with venom lacing his voice, "Vos non abscondam a me, Aurum(You can't hide from me, Aurum)!!"

"The captain's speaking in the old tongue? When did he learn that language!?"yelped an alchemist that was tossed through a wall. Hit square by a blast of the unstable umbra energy.

"Has he lost his mind—AAAIIIII!?"shouted another that got tossed out the window right into the distance.

Dainslief was on a rampage and the stronger the trail got the more violent and angry he got. It was like a berserker stood before them as he easily got through the guards and those bearing his advance. His powers by now hitting a fever pitch. "Rhinedottir...Rhinedottir!!"came his furious and labored breathing as he entered her lab.

"Yes, what is Dainslief? I've almost perfected it....WHAT THE HELL!?"the alchemist was horrified at seeing the state Dainslief was in. Destroying her lab this way and that. With a frightened yelp she scrambled to save the jetblack dragon egg she had just created. The egg was not ready, the embryo inside far from ready and complete from her work right now.

"I've told you...not to do anything st-stupid you damn alchemist."snarled the blonde as he found the injured leyline. His eyes had zoomed in right onto it immediately. He glanced over at the alchemy table and took out his sword bathed in the nebula energy. "I keep warning you that playing god one day does unspeakable damage. You are playing with a pandora's box!"

"You wouldn't dare!"she snapped. Her eyes grew horrified, pleading, and furious as she watched him take a sword stance she had seen many times. "No, please don't do it!" Her pleas fell on deaf ears as she watched him strike like a serpent. The table had been destroyed and reduced to rubble. Valuable equipment was also destroyed as he let his sword fall to the ground before it vanished in a golden light.

A strange golden liquid was coughed up as he covered his mouth as he used his right hand to steady himself on the wall. "One of these days you will bring the wrath of the gods down upon us. Be thankful your lab is the only thing I destroyed today."he hissed, wiping the corner of his mouth with a sharp glare over his shoulder. The eye covered in the scar that was now losing its glow fluctuated to a slit snake-like pupil one last time before returning to normal. With purpose in his trembling legs, feet dragging every few steps he smashed down the door to the garden.

He could see the damage and the dying irminsul sapling. Instinct or resolve? He was not sure his mind was beginning to become muddled with the rising fever. His senses were failing him yet he pressed forward stubbornly until he stood at its twisting trunk. Before the baffled alchemist's eyes she watched as an ancient melody whispered in hushed tones leaving his lips as his hand glowed. Then swift as a serpent his hand went into the tree, the scar-like veins bursting to life on him and the tree.

It caused a phenomenon all across Khaenri'ah that did not go unnoticed by anybody as the lone man began tending and mending the leylines. The results were felt immediately by Ishtar as she recovered, eyes snapping open like a lion on the prowl. She could sense him, feel him as she slowly sat up, one hand clutching his cape. Raising her hand an orb formed as she saw the chaos he had to fix this entire situation. She felt tired, her eyes of gold slowly fading to a rich anemo teal as she spoke her voice ringing in his mind, "Ourborous, come hither to my side. Thou knowest, oh fair knight."

Dainslief had frozen at hearing her words, the words of binding. Part of him howled and screamed to leave but the rational part wanted to stay and chew out the damn alchemist and toss her in some cell where the sun doesn't shine. However he somehow knew she was right, his racing heart roaring in his ears. His own blood felt like acid under his skin as he removed his arm from the restored tree. The dark aura vanishes and is consumed by his body completely. "I can't stay here....l-losing consciousness...hnph..."he grunted as he lifted a shaky hand to reveal a portal of a golden energy. Not caring that Rhinedottir was witnessing everything as with a dash of cosmic energy he dashed inside, the portal closing behind him.

Ishtar raced to his side just in time to catch him as he collapsed, her wings giving her the support and extra height she needed to support him. His sight was blurry but he could feel the soft breeze and smell the scent of spring again. Time had resumed around him as she guided him into the flower field. With a smile she slowly coaxed him so that he was lying down on his back. Letting his head rest in her lap as his eyes laced with pain and fever looked up at her. The sweets and most reassuring of smiles as her hand covered his eyes. "Ehe~! Thank you...for coming back."she giggled softly leaning down to kiss his forehead. The gentle motions soothing as he finally gave into his fevered dreams. Unaware his fate had now become sealed and there would be no going back....but it had been a fate he had grabbed in his hands.

While he slept, Ishtar hummed as the lone squirrel with eyes glowing green came to perch on her shoulder, "So that's him, teacher?"

"Yes this is Dainslief my Bough Keeper. Buer, are you leyline hopping again, dear child?"chuckled Ishtar softly, scratching the squirrel's belly.

"Hmm...maybe I am or maybe I'm just a squirrel in a tree watching the world go by."teased the dendro archon. "Humor aside, aunt Istaroth myself along with Morax, Barbatos, and Makoto wish you a happy birthday."

"My son better not be lazing about again drinking himself into a stupor."pouted the time goddess with cheeks puffed out and arms crossed.

"Ha ha ha~!! You should have seen Morax chew him out at the party. Darn wind sprite by mistake dumped a bunch of wine all over that dragon. He was literally chasing him around with his polearm for hours while me and Makoto were playing shogi."Istaroth had to facepalm when hearing that story. That was definitely her little boy, Sylph. One of these days his knack for finding trouble was going to get him killed if he was not careful.

The blonde sleeping in her lap snoring softly despite how uncomfortable he looked due to the fever. Actually it looked like his fever was starting to play cruel games with his head. Seeing this Buer while still possessing the squirrel hopped down so she was on his bare chest. Inquisitive twitching of the rodent's nose and whiskers.

"Fever nightmare from the contract's modifications and the link being established to House Aion I presume?"the archon inquired; Ishtar nodded. "Easy enough fix if you want me to do so."

"Go ahead."Ishtar permitted.

Excited chattering could be heard as she hopped onto his head being careful of the still healing contract scar. With a glow of dendro the distress left his ghostly pale, fever riddance body. It took some work but the young yakshini had gotten his nightmares to leave him be. The sweet dreams she was seeing now surprised her. There was a scene of a festival with lots of smiling and happy faces. Ishtar beside him as they sat by the fire, with delight and carefree look Buer had seen many times.

That had been the look Deshret would give Nabu and Morax gave Guizhong. This dream was reflecting the heart of a man that had discovered love. Question was...did her aunt's familiar know this as she watched him so tenderly hold the dream version of the time goddess. Like an unknown force was pushing this man and her aunt together. Glimmering faintly, a pair of snakes with eyes of gold and glittered like stars caught her attention hiding in Dream Ishtar's shadow. A voice both male and female, somehow slowly shifted to female caused her eyes to grow wide.

"Anon...my return is nigh. And the world....shalt burn no more..."
