AN- Sorry for the long note. I just thought it would be best to point out the changes I'll be making to the storyline. I ship Remus and Sirius. Remus won't end up with Tonks, but he will die with her. He will be with Sirius. Tonks will end up with Kingsley. In books 5-6 it might bring up a Regulus Lupin and that's because I might make Sirius a barer and PowerBottom. Tonks will still have Teddy and Harry will still be his godfather, but he might be Regulus Jr.'s godfather as well. And since Kingsley will still be alive at the end of this Teddy will grow up with him. Also, another ship I'm doing is George x Harry. I'm sorry for Hinny shippers, but I don't really like that ship. It's just so normal and basic, I mean falling for your best friend's younger sister is kind of normal, but if you want I can just rewrite this whole story after this and make it all the normal ships as well. I'm sorry I don't really like the whole James and Lily thing. But Harry is still their son. It's just that the past relationships may change a little. Who should I put James with other than Lily? The ships I'm already planning on using in the past are, Remus x Sirius, Narcissa x Lucius, Andromeda x Ted. Also, who should I pair with these two: Severus x ?, and Regulus x? I was thinking either Severus x James, Regulus x James, Severus x Regulus, or Severus x Regulus x James. But I want your thoughts. Please and Thank you. There might be very long paragraphs of just the book writing because I don't know what to put between certain sections. I don't really feel like just shortening the text to certain points because I never really understood where they really are in the book and I'd rather just read it off the page instead of going back and forth. Also, I'm just a 15-year-old girl. cut me some slack, yeah?

"Chapter One... The Boy Who Lived."Bellatrix started.

"The boy who lived? Don't all boys live?" Sirius whispered to James. Remus who heard him smacked the back of his head. "Ow! What was that for?" Sirius asked. Everyone was now watching them. Some annoyed, others amused. "For asking a stupid question. If you would have let your crazy cousin continue you'd know what it means," was the reply Sirius got. "What if I didn't want to hear said crazy cousin's voice?" Sirius asked. That got another wack to the head. "Fine. Continue Bella." Bellatrix just rolled her eyes and continued.

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.

"You're very welcome." Sirius and James shouted. Remus smacked the back of their heads again.

They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious because they just didn't hold with such nonsense. Mr. Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills.

"What are drills?" James asked.

"A muggle tool that helps create holes," Remus said. James nodded his thanks with a small smile on his face. Lily leaned against James more.

He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache.

"Sounds attractive," Sirius said wrinkling his nose in disgust. "Isn't your sister dating someone with the last name Dursley?" James asked Lily. She nodded.

Mrs. Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors.

"Yep, that's Petunia," Lily stated. "Then why is the book talking about your sister?" Peter asked. Lily shrugged in response.

The Dursleys had a small son called Dudley and in their opinion, there was no finer boy anywhere. The Dursleys had everything they wanted, but they also had a secret, and their greatest fear was that somebody would discover it.

"Ooh. Let me guess. He wet the bed and blamed his son for it?" Sirius tried guessing the secret.

James started laughing hard. Lily rolled her eyes but had a fond smile appearing on her face.

Remus smacked the back of his head again. "Hey stop hitting me," Sirius complained. "Well, stop saying stupid things." Sirius pouted and Remus turned away to hide the blush that started to appear on his cheeks.

They didn't think they could bear it if anyone found out about the Potters.

"Hey! What's wrong with the Potters?" Sirius demanded. Mr. and Mrs. Potter smiled at him as did James. "Absolutely nothing," Remus stated.

Mrs. Potter was Mrs. Dursleys sister, but they hadn't met for several years; in fact, Mrs. Dursley pretended she didn't have a sister,

Lily looked down at this upset. James rubbed her arm up and down and whispered, "Forget about her. If she can't see how amazing you are then let her see how much she is missing out." Lily smiled at him and kiss his cheek. James smiled back at her.

because her sister and her good-for-nothing husband were as unDursleyish as it was possible to be.

"James is not good for nothing!" Sirius jumped up to defend his best friend. "If he was good for nothing he wouldn't let me stay at his house, or take care of me like a brother would or..." Sirius' rant was cut off by Remus. "Hey, it's okay. We get it and know the truth it's okay." Sirius was pulled into an embrace by Remus which James joined in. "Thank you, for your kind words."

Mr. and Mrs. Black seemed a little put out. 'He should be defending us, not those blood traitors.'

'I'm his brother not that Potter boy.' Was the only thing running through Regulus' head.

No one mentioned how unDursleyish wasn't even a real word, too caught up with the 'good for nothing husband' bit. Most of the Slytherins rolled their eyes at Sirius' rant.

The Dursleys shuddered to think what the neighbors would say if the Potters arrived in the street.

Sirius was glaring so hard at the book, you'd think it would burst into flames. Bellatrix started shifting in her seat at how heated the glare was to the book she was holding. Remus smacked the back of his head. "Knock it off." The glare that the book was receiving was turned to the werewolf. In turn, Remus hid behind James. "Hey, it's okay. You know the truth and that's all I care about." After James said that Sirius stopped glaring and hugged James. James had a small smile as he hugged back.

The Dursleys knew that the Potters had a small son,

"You hear that Lilyflower? We have a son." James was all smiles. He couldn't believe it. "Yes, a baby Prongs. Pronglet is going to have an amazing godfather watching out for him." Lily, James, Remus, and the rest of the Potters look at him in amusement. "Whose to say you'll be the godfather?" Bellatrix, a little annoyed at all the interruptions. "Sirius and I made a deal. Our first children would be each other's godchild. So, since it seems I have a son, Sirius is the godfather." James was the one to explain. "What makes you think Lily would agree to that?" Severus asked, having been silent throughout the book, some jumped having forgotten he was here. "Lily and I already talked about this. We talk about if we had a future together or not. She agreed if Sirius matured more, and if we ever got married and/or had children, Sirius would be the godfather as long as Alice got to be the godmother. As well, Severus would be the godfather to our second child." Severus' eyes widened at this as did everyone else's except Lily, Sirius, and Remus since they already knew this.

too, but they had never even seen him. This boy was another good reason for keeping the Potters away; they didn't want Dudley mixing with a child like that.

"Whose to say I'd let my son/prongslet anywhere near your child?" Sirius and Lily spoke at the same time. The rest of the marauders (except Peter, cause let's face it. He's not marauders material.) laughed as well as the rest of the Potter family.

When Mr. and Mrs. Dursley woke up on the dull, gray Tuesday our story starts, there was nothing about the cloudy sky outside to suggest that strange and mysterious things would soon be happening all over the country. Mr. Dursley hummed as he picked out his most boring tie for work,

"Of course," Sirius muttered. James and Remus heard him though. Remus smacked the back of his head, yet again as James snickered. Lily who saw the whole bit since she was sitting next to James rolled her eyes.

and Mrs. Dursley gossiped away happily as she wrestled a screaming Dudley into his high chair. None of them noticed a large, tawny owl flutter past the window.

Everyone rolled their eyes at this point. Though some of the purebloods were confused about why that would be weird.

At half-past eight, Mr. Dursley picked up his briefcase, pecked Mrs. Dursley on the cheek, and tried to kiss Dudley goodbye but missed, because Dudley was now having a tantrum and throwing his cereal at the walls.

The mothers wrinkled their noses in disgust.

Little tyke, chortled Mr. Dursley as he left the house.

Even the fathers were unhappy with this development.

He got into his car and backed out of number four's drive. It was on the corner of the street that he noticed the first sign of something peculiar, a cat reading a map.

"It's Minnie!" Sirius exclaimed. Everyone was confused about who Minnie was except the marauders and Lily. Remus and Lily smacked the back of his head at the same time.

For a second, Mr. Dursley didn't realize what he had seen then he jerked his head around to look again. A tabby cat was standing on the corner of Privet Drive, but there wasn't a map in sight. What could he have been thinking of? It must have been a trick of the light. Mr. Dursley blinked and stared at the cat. It stared back.

"That's because it's Minnie!" Both James and Sirius exclaimed. Now Remus and Lily smacked the back of both of their heads. Everyone was still confused about who this Minnie person was.

As Mr. Dursley drove around the corner and up the road, he watched the cat in his mirror. It was now reading the sign that said Privet Drive no, looking at the sign; cats couldn't read maps or signs.

"Nope, but Minnie can." Sirius and James said with a smirk. Smack! Smack! There goes the brain cells I could've had, Sirius mused.

Mr. Dursley gave himself a little shake and put the cat out of his mind. As he drove toward town he thought of nothing except a large order of drills he was hoping to get that day. But on the edge of town, drills were driven out of his mind by something else. As he sat in the usual morning traffic jam, he couldn't help noticing that there seemed to be a lot of strangely dressed people about. People in cloaks.

The purebloods rose an eyebrow at this.

Mr. Dursley couldn't bear people who dressed in funny clothes the getups you saw on young people! He supposed this was some stupid new fashion.

Some of the purebloods had a look of outrage on their face. How dare he make fun of our clothing when he doesn't have a fashion sense himself.

He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and his eyes fell on a huddle of these weirdos standing quite close by. They were whispering excitedly together. Mr. Dursley was enraged to see that a couple of them weren't young at all; why, that man had to be older than he was, and wearing an emerald-green cloak! The nerve of him!

"Yes, the nerve of him!" James couldn't help but scream. Others looked at him confused. "What? He's wearing Slytherin colors. The nerve of him." Sirius couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Good one." Smack! "Oww!" The Slytherins roll their eyes and glare. Mr. and Mrs. Potter couldn't stop the small smile appearing on their faces.

But then it struck Mr. Dursley that this was probably some silly stunt these people were collecting for something. . . yes, that would be it. The traffic moved on and a few minutes later, Mr. Dursley arrived in the Grunnings parking lot, his mind back on drills. Mr. Dursley always sat with his back to the window in his office on the ninth floor. If he hadn't, he might have found it harder to concentrate on drills that morning. He didn't see the owls swooping past in broad daylight, though people down in the street did; they pointed and gazed open-mouthed as owl after owl sped overhead. Most of them had never seen an owl even at nighttime.

Then how do they get their mail? Went through some of the Slytherins minds. "Muggles deliver the mail instead of owls. They are called mailmen." Sirius explained. Everyone was in shock but James. The stag animigi, however, smiled. He liked that he and Sirius were underestimated.

Mr. Dursley, however, had a perfectly normal, owl-free morning. He yelled at five different people. He made several important telephone calls and shouted a bit more. He was in a very good mood until lunchtime when he thought he'd stretch his legs and walk across the road

"WHAT?! He walked?" Sirius got slapped yet again.

to buy himself a bun from the bakery.

"That makes sense." Smack! "Stop hitting me!" Sirius wined. Remus rolled his eyes and looked away with a little blush on his cheeks.

He'd forgotten all about the people in cloaks until he passed a group of them next to the bakers. He eyed them angrily as he passed. He didn't know why, but they made him uneasy.

All the witches and wizards couldn't help but roll their eyes.

This bunch was whispering excitedly, too, and he couldn't see a single collecting tin. It was on his way back past them, clutching a large doughnut in a bag, that he caught a few words of what they were saying. The Potters, that's right, that's what I heard yes, their son, Harry.

"What about Harry? What happens to my son/godson?" James and Sirius asked at the same time. A few people looked freaked out at this.

Mr. Dursley stopped dead. Fear flooded him. He looked back at the whisperers as if he wanted to say something to them, but thought better of it. He dashed back across the road, hurried up to his office, snapped at his secretary not to disturb him, seized his telephone, and had almost finished dialing his home number when he changed his mind. He put the receiver back down and stroked his mustache, thinking ... no, he was being stupid.

"He admits it!" This time it was James who got smacked.

Potter wasn't such an unusual name.

Everyone rose an eyebrow at this. Yes, even Lily.

He was sure there were lots of people called Potter who had a son called Harry. Come to think of it, he wasn't even sure his nephew was called Harry.

"Of course," Sirius muttered. James and Remus heard him though. Remus smacked the back of his head, yet again as James snickered. Lily who had seen the whole bit since she was sitting next to James rolled her eyes, yet again.

He'd never even seen the boy. It might have been Harvey. Or Harold. ere was no point in worrying Mrs. Dursley; she always got so upset at any mention of her sister. He didn't blame her if he'd had a sister like that ... but all the same, those people in cloaks . . .

Everyone rolled their eyes yet again.

He found it a lot harder to concentrate on drills that afternoon and when he left the building at five o'clock, he was still so worried that he walked straight into someone just outside the door. Sorry, he grunted

"He knows that word!?" Sirius exclaimed. That earned a few laughs as well as a smack.

, as the tiny old man stumbled and almost fell. It was a few seconds before Mr. Dursley realized that the man was wearing a violet cloak. He didn't seem at all upset at being almost knocked to the ground. On the contrary, his face split into a wide smile and he said in a squeaky voice that made passersby stare, Don't be sorry, my dear sir, for nothing could upset me today! Rejoice, for You-Know-Who has gone at last!

"WHAT!?" All of Voldemort's followers screamed. Even the light side was shocked, but also had smiles on their faces.

Even Muggles like yourself should be celebrating, this happy, happy day!

"Oh, Professor Flitwick, only you." James and Sirius said fondly with small smiles on their faces. "How do you know that's Flitwick?" Lily and Remus asked, then looked at each other in shock. "The squeaky voice could only belong to one wizard we know. Flitwick is that wizard." Sirius stated. "And if you pay attention to the rant you can tell it was Professor Flitwick by the choice of wording." James put in. Remus and Lily were surprised as well as the others.

And the old man hugged Mr. Dursley around the middle and walked off.

"Must have used a stretching charm. He has too big of a body to fit your arms around." Sirius stated offhandedly. Others laughter. This time no smack came.

Mr. Dursley stood rooted to the spot. He had been hugged by a complete stranger. He also thought he had been called a Muggle, whatever that was. He was rattled. He hurried to his car and set off for home, hoping he was imagining things, which he had never hoped before, because he didn't approve of imagination. As he pulled into the driveway of number four, the first thing he saw it didn't improve his mood was the tabby cat he spotted that morning. It was now sitting on his garden wall. He was sure it was the same one; it had the same markings around its eyes. Shoo! said Mr. Dursley loudly.

"Not going to work. She'll just give you a stern look." Sirius stated and James nodded. It then clicked in Severus' mind who Minnie is. Of course, these two would know that look, he rolled his eyes fondly. (I don't like having Snape as the bad guy that's why he's here.)

The cat didn't move. It just gave him a stern look. Was this normal cat behavior?

"No, but it's normal Minnie behavior!" James and Sirius both exclaimed, only to earn smacks to the back of their heads. Severus snickered quietly. Regulus heard his friend though and raised an eyebrow.

Mr. Dursley wondered. Trying to pull himself together, he let himself into the house. He was still determined not to mention anything to his wife.

"Nice to know who wears the pants in the household," Sirius muttered to himself. Remus who heard him goes to smack him again, but Sirius catches his arm, "ah, a, ah" he brings the arm down. He then slid his hand down the werewolf's arm and holds his hand. "Now that should stop you from hitting me," Sirius said with a playful look in his eyes. Remus blushes a little but doesn't pull his hand away. James who had seen the whole ordeal just silently cheered, 'Finally!' he had thought.

Mrs. Dursley had had a nice, normal day. She told him over dinner all about Mrs. Next Doors' problems with her daughter and how Dudley had learned a new word (won't!).

"Lovely." Sirius and James said with disgust. "Luckily, Harry is going to grow up in a nice and loving household. Since the Potters' are the best people to raise children, it just means we are going to have an angel to raise instead of... well that." Sirius said softly but was heard by everybody. James had a smile on his face, "Thank you, little brother." He had stated softly and pulled him into a side hug. "No problem big brother."

The blacks were a little put-out. 'That Potter boy is not his brother. The Potters aren't his family. We are!' Regulus had caught something though, 'If Potter over there is big brother, is there a chance that I could still be the little brother?'

Mr. Dursley tried to act normally. When Dudley had been put to bed, he went into the living room in time to catch the last report on the evening news: "And finally, bird-watchers everywhere have reported that the nation's owls have been behaving very unusually today. Although owls normally hunt at night and are hardly ever seen in daylight, there have been hundreds of sightings of these birds flying in every direction since sunrise. Experts are unable to explain why the owls have suddenly changed their sleeping pattern."The newscaster allowed himself a grin. Most mysterious. And now, over to Jim McGuffin with the weather. Going to be any more showers of owls tonight, Jim?" "Well, Ted,

"Ted as in your husband, Andy?" Sirius asked his older cousin. "Yes, Siri, that my Ted." She told him with a soft loving smile. He nodded, "I like him. As soon as he met me he considered me family. His words were, "Anyone who shows my Dromida love and compassion, is someone to admire and respect. Welcome to the family." Andy couldn't help, but smile, "He's very protective when it comes to the Black family." She stated. "I can see why. No one deserves to be banished from the people who were supposed to love them. Took me quite some time for me to figure that one out. But thanks to the Potters I did." Andy's smile widened a bit, "Then I must thank you Potters for looking after my cousin and showing him love. Merlin only knows what kind of love he received from them." She said looking at the Potter family gratefully. "No thanks needed. It has been a pleasure looking after Sirius. He makes James and the rest of us happy." Dorea Potter smiled at her.

Everyone other than the Potter family, Lily, Remus, and the duo who were conversing was in shock. 'Is that really how they feel?' Regulus and Severus asked themselves. Bellatrix was in shock as well by the conversation. 'Did I make my sister feel that way? Does that mudblood make her feel more loved than we did?' She questioned herself. As was every other Black in the room.

said the weatherman, I don't know about that, but it is not only the owls that have been acting oddly today. Viewers as far apart as Kent, Yorkshire, and Dundee have been phoning in to tell me that instead of the rain I promised yesterday, they've had a downpour of shooting stars! Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early it is not until next week, folks! But I can promise a wet night tonight. sat frozen in his armchair. Shooting stars all over Britain? Owls flying by daylight? Mysterious people in cloaks all over the place? And a whisper, a whisper about the Potters . . .

The Marauders couldn't help but feel worried.

Mrs. Dursley came into the living room carrying two cups of tea. It was no good. He'd have to say something to her. He cleared his throat nervously. Er Petunia, dear you haven't heard from your sister lately, have you? As he had expected, Mrs. Dursley looked shocked and angry. After all, they normally pretended she didn't have a sister.

Now Lily had a sad look on her face. James on the other hand looked murderous. "Remember what I told you before. If she doesn't love and appreciate you now, just show her what she's missing. Because you, Lily Flower, are the most talented, beautiful, strongest, most powerful female I know. Well, right below my mother. Muggleborn or not I love you. It has always been you." Lily had tears in her eyes, "Thank you, James. I love you too." She then hugged him tight and he hugged back just as tightly. Severus felt a little bit of jealousy but pushed it down. 'She's happy that's all I could have asked for. That's what she deserves.' He told himself.

No, she said sharply. Why? Funny stuff on the news, Mr. Dursley mumbled. Owls . . . shooting stars . . . and there were a lot of funny-looking people in town today... "So?" snapped Mrs. Dursley. Well, I just thought ... maybe ... it was something to do with ... you know ... her crowd.

The Blacks - Sirius looked offended.

Mrs. Dursley sipped her tea through pursed lips. Mr. Dursley wondered whether he dared tell her he heard the name, Potter. He decided he didn't dare.

Sirius snickered as did James. "Very brave of you Mister Dursley," Sirius stated. "Yeah, I wish I was that brave," James added sarcastically. Some couldn't help the smiles they had as they continuously mocked the Dursleys.

Instead, he said, as casually as he could, their son he'd be about Dudley's age now, wouldn't he? I suppose so, said Mrs. Dursley stiffly. What's his name again? Howard, isn't it?

James couldn't help, but wrinkle his nose, "Ew," he said with a bit of disgust. "Howard Potter?" Sirius couldn't help but gag at the sound of the name. Others couldn't help but roll their eyes or smile.

Harry. The nasty, common name, if you ask me.

"Well, no one asked you. And Harry is most likely named after your father Harrison. So you're disrespecting your father." Sirius said while rolling his eyes. Some of the others in the room were looking at him in shock and disbelief. "Ev- Lily talks about her father from time to time." He informed, correcting himself when he almost said Evans, everyone that knew her nodded.

Oh, yes, said Mr. Dursley, his heart sinking horribly. Yes, I quite agree.

"Of course you do," Sirius muttered. Remus couldn't smack him because Sirius was still holding his hand and he didn't want it to end. He liked the way Sirius' hand was smaller than his own, but fit so perfectly.

He didn't say another word on the subject as they went upstairs to bed. While Mrs. Dursley was in the bathroom, Mr. Dursley crept to the bedroom window and peered down into the front garden. The cat was still there.

"I feel bad for Minnie now. Having to watch that family all day." Sirius whined. Remus blushed at the whine, but didn't get the chance to say anything because James decided to ask the question that was on his mind for some time, "Why is she watching them in the first place? I mean Voldemort is dead right, so why not celebrate?" Some flinched at the name, but otherwise stayed quiet thinking of a reason to answer his question. Bellatrix decided to just read to figure out the answer.

It was staring down Privet Drive as though it were waiting for something. Was he imagining things? Could all this have anything to do with the Potters? If it did . . . if it got out that they were related to a pair of well, he didn't think he could bear it. The Dursleys got into bed.

"Bad mental images." Sirius gagged. James looked at him disgusted, "Why would you even think that?! Oh, now you gave me bad mental images." He whined while turning light green. Sirius was wondering why Remus hasn't smacked him for his comments yet, not that he's complaining, he's just curious. That's when he noticed they were still holding hands. He blushed a dark red. "Sorry," he whispered to Remus and tried to move his hand. Remus stopped him, "It's okay, don't apologize. I like it." He had said this giving the dog animagi's hand a slight squeeze. Sirius blushed a darker red, but didn't try to move his hand again and got more comfortable, leaning against the werewolf's chest a bit. "Is this okay?" He asked quietly, to where he almost wasn't heard, but he knew the other boy heard him. "Yes, it's perfectly fine." James who had recovered from his bad image mental breakdown had seen the whole thing and was having another mental breakdown, but this time he was being a fanboy squealing in his mind.

Mrs. Dursley fell asleep quickly but Mr. Dursley lay awake, turning it all over in his mind. His last, comforting thought before he fell asleep was that even if the Potters were involved, there was no reason for them to come near him and Mrs. Dursley. The Potters knew very well what he and Petunia thought about their kind.

James and Sirius glared at the book. Remus and Lily whispered comforting words to their respected person.

He couldn't see how he and Petunia could get mixed up in anything that might be going on he yawned and turned over it couldn't affect them. How very wrong he was.

There were a few groans heard throughout the room.

Mr. Dursley might have been drifting into an uneasy sleep, but the cat on the wall outside was showing no sign of sleepiness.

"Of course not. Minnie's stubborn." Sirius stated proudly. "That's where we got our example of being stubborn is okay," James added. Siri nodded at that. Now everyone wanted to know who set that kind of example for these tricksters.

It was sitting as still as a statue, its eyes fixed unblinkingly on the far corner of Privet Drive. It didn't so much as quiver when a car door slammed on the next street, nor when two owls swooped overhead. In fact, it was nearly midnight before the cat moved at all. A man appeared on the corner the cat had been watching, appeared so suddenly and silently you'd have thought he'd just popped out of the ground. The cat's tail twitched and its eyes narrowed. Nothing like this man had ever been seen on Privet Drive. He was tall, thin, and very old, judging by the silver of his hair and beard, which were both long enough to tuck into his belt. He was wearing long robes, a purple cloak that swept the ground, and high-heeled, buckled boots. His blue eyes were light, bright, and sparkling behind half-moon spectacles and his nose was very long and crooked, as though it had been broken at least twice.

"That's Dumbledore." James and Sirius stated calmly. Now everyone was slightly confused. "Not that I'm complaining, but why aren't you both cheering with happiness, "Regulus asked confusion noticeable. "In the note that we read when we first got here. It said we were going to learn about the mistakes and the danger he put others in." Sirius said trailing off, so James continued for him, "And before everyone else showed up when it was just us," he said motioning to everyone on the couch, "we had gotten a letter saying these books were about Harry and that means Dumbledore put Harry in danger multiple times." James finished. Now everyone was looking at them shocked. Bellatrix decided it was best to continue.

~~~~ A.N: I don't remember if it said this exactly in the letters or if it said anything about this at all, but I'm too lazy to check and rewrite the letters, so just pretend it says this in the letters somewhere.~~~~~~~
This man's name was Albus Dumbledore.
The duo from before just rolled their eyes.
Albus Dumbledore didn't seem to realize that he had just arrived in a street where everything from his name to his boots was unwelcome.
"He most likely just didn't care," James muttered to Sirius. The other nodded in agreement. No one messes with their baby and gets away with it. If they are in the room and they apologize and promise to change in the future (*Cough Cough*Snape*Cough Cough*)then maybe but by the looks of it right now no one.
He was busy rummaging in his cloak, looking for something. But he did seem to realize he was being watched because he looked up suddenly at the cat, which was still staring at him from the other end of the street.
"Get him, Minnie!" Sirius cheered, but not so loudly since Remus was closer to him than before and didn't want to hurt his ears by yelling. Almost everyone looked shocked that he didn't shout but didn't say anything. The ones that knew why he didn't shout smiled. Well, all but Peter, just looked at them with a look of disgust.
For some reason, the sight of the cat seemed to amuse him. He chuckled and muttered, I should have known. He found what he was looking for in his inside pocket. It seemed to be a silver cigarette lighter.
"Dumbledore smokes?" Sirius asked. "I guess it's not that surprising." James said, "I mean I would probably start smoking too, running a school with so many children, and having to deal with their problems all the time." Sirius nodded his agreement. Mr. and Mrs. Potter gave them a stern look. "Or not you know. Since smoking is bad and all..." James tried to amend his earlier statement. "We'll be having a talk later boys." Mr. Potter stated in a stern and commanding voice. They both nodded their heads fast, even though it was not an option, knowing it would be a lot easier to just agree.
He flicked it open, held it up in the air, and clicked it. The nearest street lamp went out with a little pop. He clicked it again the next lamp flickered into darkness.
"I may not be happy with him at the moment, but COOL! I want one!" James shouted and Sirius agreed. "We can always try to make our own..." He suggested to James. "No! I don't want the school destroyed!" Lily shouted. "Who said anything about using it at school?" Sirius asked secretly. "We're doomed." Remus deadpanned to Lily. "Indeed we are," she replied dully.
Twelve times he clicked the Put-Outer until the only lights left on the whole street were two tiny pinpricks in the distance, which were the eyes of the cat watching him. If anyone looked out of their window now, even beady-eyed Mrs. Dursley, they wouldn't be able to see anything that was happening down on the pavement. Dumbledore slipped the Put-Outer back inside his cloak
"That is such a stupid name. How about Deluminator?" Sirius asked. James nodded, "That sounds a whole lot better than the Put-Outer." Sirius smiled at that. Sime others rolled their eyes at them while others chuckled. Some more quietly than others.
and set off down the street toward number four, where he sat down on the wall next to the cat. He didn't look at it, but after a moment he spoke to it. Fancy seeing you here, Professor McGonagall. He turned to smile at the tabby, but it had gone. Instead, he was smiling at a rather severe-looking woman who was wearing square glasses exactly the shape of the markings the cat had had around its eyes.
"That's who you were calling Minnie?!" Narcissa shouted. "Well, yeah. Who did you think it was. Her name is Minerva McGonagall. So, we call her Minnie." James said calmly while Sirius nodded his agreement. Almost everyone looked at them like they were crazy.
She, too, was wearing a cloak, an emerald one. Her black hair was drawn into a tight bun. She looked distinctly ruffled. How did you know it was me? she asked. My dear Professor, I've never seen a cat sit so stiffly.
"You'd be stiff too if you were sitting on a brick wall all day in your animigus' form." Sirius huffed at the book defending his head of the house. James nodded in agreement. Some were shocked at how protective they were of her.
You'd be stiff if you'd been sitting on a brick wall all day, said Professor McGonagall.
"Hey, you think like Minnie!" James yelled a little. "Well then, I am honored to have a similar mindset as Minnie. She's the best." Sirius stated with a smile.
All-day? When you could have been celebrating? I must have passed a dozen feasts and parties on my way here.
"Maybe there were some losses. She isn't the time to celebrate while others are grieving. She believes it's unpleasant and impolite." James informed. "Really?" Regulus asked. "Yeah, she feels that celebrating something on the day some loved ones had died is disrespectful to the people grieving," Sirius informed. Everyone else in the room looked a little shocked other than James, Sirius, and Remus. Even Lily looked shocked about not knowing this.
Professor McGonagall sniffed angrily. Oh yes, everyone's celebrating, all right, she said impatiently. You'd think they'd be a bit more careful, but not even the Muggles have noticed something going on. It was on their news. She jerked her head back at the Dursleys dark living-room window. I heard it. Flocks of owls ... shooting stars. Well, they're not completely stupid. They were bound to notice something. Shooting stars down in Kent Ill bet that was Dedalus Diggle.
"I liked that Hufflepuff. He's funny." Sirius stated with a faraway look "He also was one of the people who didn't avoid me for being a Black." James looked at him with a sad smile, "He's one of the only ones who didn't avoid me because I hung out with a Black." He informed. Remus gave them both a sad look, knowing how hard their first few years of Hogwarts were. Everyone else looked shocked. "People avoided you two?" Mr. Potter asked. "Yeah, but it's okay, it's only because I hung out with Sirius and because Sirius is a Black," James said it like it was no big deal. The Blacks' looked a little offended, but when they saw how nonchalant they were about it, they felt hurt. Why didn't Sirius come to us about this? They asked themselves, but they already knew the answer, He was scared too.
never had much sense. You can't blame them, said Dumbledore gently. We've had precious little to celebrate for eleven years.
"That means this is in about three years' time," James said. "Eleven years is a long time," Remus muttered. Sirius squeezed his hand. "We can change things this time, yeah?" He whispered to him. Remus gave him a soft nod and a small smile.
I know that, said Professor McGonagall irritably. But that's no reason to lose our heads. People are being downright careless, out on the streets in broad daylight, not even dressed in Muggle clothes, swapping rumors. She threw a sharp, sideways glance at Dumbledore here, as though hoping he was going to tell her something, but he didn't, so she went on. A fine thing it would be if, on the very day You-Know-Who seems to have disappeared, at last, the Muggles found out about us all. I suppose he has gone, Dumbledore? It certainly seems so, said Dumbledore. We have much to be thankful for. Would you care for a lemon drop?
"A what?" Some of the Purebloods asked. "A muggle sweet that Dumbledore is rather fond of." Lily supplied. They still looked confused but nodded at the small explanation.
A what? A lemon drop. They're a kind of Muggle sweet I'm rather fond of.
"You almost said the same thing as him," Remus said in shock. Lily looked a little flustered and flattered that she thinks the same as the headmaster, but some of the purebloods looked disgusted.
No, thank you, said Professor McGonagall coldly, as though she didn't think this was the moment for lemon drops.
"Most likely wasn't since he dips them into a calming drought," Sirius informed. "He WHAT?!" Almost the whole room asked. "Oh, you'll didn't know. Yea, after an incident that happened 5th year. He asked if I wanted a lemon drop, I said no then he shoved it in my mouth and I felt instantly calmer." He explained. "He did the same with me," James said. "He WHAT?!" Remus and the Potter were in a full raging fit. The Blacks were angry too. Lily wasn't angry, thinking they were just trying to rile everyone up. "Let's talk about this later and continue," James suggested. Once everyone was calm enough they continued.
As I say, even if You-Know-Who has gone My dear Professor, surely a sensible person like yourself can call him by his name? All this You-Know-Who nonsense for eleven years I have been trying to persuade people to call him by his proper name: Voldemort. Professor McGonagall flinched,
"Oh, Minnie. It's okay to be scared, don't let him push you." Sirius said softly. They were all still shocked by how much love Sirius and James showed the professor.
but Dumbledore, who was unsticking two lemon drops, seemed not to notice. It all gets so confusing if we keep saying You-Know-Who. I have never seen any reason to be frightened of saying Voldemort's name.
"Don't rush her! Let her be scared. It's okay for her to be scared! Fear isn't something for you to get over easily!" James shouted at the book. Sirius was glaring at the book furiously. Others gave them a soft look for showing the professor this much care.
I know you haven't, said Professor McGonagall, sounding half exasperated, half admiring. But you're different. Everyone knows you're the only one You-Know- oh, all right, Voldemort, was frightened of.
"Oh, please. Even I'm not scared of Dumbledore. Only his choice of action." Sirius started rolling his eyes. James agreed with him. Lily glared at him but looked surprised when James agreed with this.
You flatter me, said Dumbledore calmly. Voldemort had powers I will never have.
"Only because you're too noble to use them, sir." Lily praised. At the same time, however, James said, "Sure, that's only because you're too scared to use them after what happened to your sister and falling out with your brother." Lily looked at him shocked as did many others. "I researched a bit on Dumbledore's past, it isn't pretty. And he should know Voldemort's moves and techniques already since he taught him. Voldemort was in the same year as Minnie I believe." He informed the room. "You don't have to be rude to him you know," Lily informed him. "I do since he put our son in danger. You do remember that don't you?" James asked. "Yea, but Harry could be lying." Sirius looked exasperated at this, "The letter said that they can't lie. Plus, this is a Blood Book. It shows the truth and nothing, but the truth. It was a ritual that most don't do anymore since it could be very dangerous. You have to have the Head of DMLE and the Ministers permission to do it. Also, you need to work on your all teachers and staff members are good complex. Because they're not, and you could get seriously (no pun intended) hurt." Everyone looked at him shocked. "What, I locked myself in the Black Library from time to time." Now some understand. Lily still looked shocked he talked back to her and James allowed it.
Only because you're too well noble to use them. Luckily, it's dark. I haven't blushed so much since Madam Pomfrey told me she liked my new earmuffs.
"EWW!" James and Sirius shouted. But almost everyone else in the room looked disgusted.
Professor McGonagall shot a sharp look at Dumbledore and said, the owls are nothing next to the rumors that are flying around. Do you know what everyone's saying? Why did he disappear? About what finally stopped him? It seemed that Professor McGonagall had reached the point she was most anxious to discuss, the real reason she had been waiting on a cold, hard wall all day, for neither as a cat nor as a woman had she fixed Dumbledore with such a piercing stare as she did now. It was plain that whatever everyone was saying, she was not going to believe it until Dumbledore told her it was true. Dumbledore, however, was choosing another lemon drop and did not answer.
"Just tell Minnie what she wants to know!" Sirius demanded. Remus started rubbing his back to calm him down.
What they're saying, she pressed on, is that last night Voldemort turned up in Godrics Hollow. He went to find the Potters.
"No, he can't do that. The Potters are too good. He can't go looking for them." Sirius said softly. James grabbed the hand that Remus wasn't holding and squeezed it. He squeezed back tightly. "What did you do to make the dark lord want to look for you?" Lily demanded. Everyone looked at her shocked. "How am I supposed to know? Also, What if I didn't do anything? There could be another reason!" James asked. "With you? There is no other reason." Sirius glared at her. "You don't have my blessing to be with James. He's too good for you." He said pulling James closer to him and Remus. James didn't resist and sat closer, feeling hurt by her words. Lily looked at them shocked. "You can't do that!" She screeched. "I can and I will. James is my older brother and I won't let you break him." He said firmly. "Your not brothers. Besides the Potters probably only took you in as pity. Hoping to save at least one Black from You-Know-Who's grip on the family." Sirius looked at her hurt. That enraged both James and Remus, but elated Peter. "Watch what you say Evans you might learn to regret what you say." Remus growled at her pulling Sirius closer to him, til' he was almost on his lap. "If you keep disrespecting me, my family, and Sirius you won't have to worry about Sirius' blessing," James said. Everyone looked at him shocked. While everyone looked shocked Lily looked smug, "Because I would drop you as quickly as it took you to say no every time I asked to out before." He growled at her. Her smug look dropped. "Let's just continue." Mrs. Potter said enraged. Bellatrix started to read again afraid of feeling the Potters' wrath. Severus looked shocked. 'What happened to my Lily? That's not the Lily I fell for.' He was rather upset with her personality change. She was so kind before. It couldn't have all been an act, could it?
The rumor is that Lily and James Potter are that they're dead.
"NOOO!" Sirius screamed. He was holding onto James so tightly, that it looked impossible for James to breathe. Remus had both of his arms wrapped around the two. Lily looked jealous of the group hug but said nothing, shocked she was dead. "Now, look what you did, you got us killed." She said snobbily. James flinched and felt guilt settling in. Sirius and Remus glared at her as did many others. Lily decided to add, "Harry could have even died because of your stupidness." James flinched even harder than before, Was I the blame for us dying. Oh, Merlin, I'm sorry Harry. While James' thoughts were running wild Sirius spoke up. "Don't listen to her Prongs. You would never do anything that could cause any sort of harm to your family." Remus was rubbing both James' and Sirius' backs. Severus then spoke up, "Lily that is enough. I can't believe you." He was so disappointed in his childhood friend. He didn't like the Marauders because of the jokes and comments they made, but she is acting worse than them right now. Lily looked shocked at him then hissed, "Just it Snivellus, not like you got room to talk." That's when James had enough, "Lily what has gotten into you? What happened to the girl I fell in love with?"James then did something that nobody thought he would do. "Lily we are over. I can't handle the way you are acting you may get back together in the future, but I can't handle the way you are treating me and my loved ones. I'm sorry. I do love you but you are not acting like the woman I fell in love with. Once you find the woman that fell in love with deep inside you and bring her back I don't think we could be together. " He then decided to explain, "us, as in the Marauders, have decided to put our differences aside was Snape. We came to an agreement. we have decided that it would be best to lay off the pranks and everything else to study for our NEWTS and become better people. It seems while we were doing that you decide to become someone else. I don't like who you have become I don't think any of us do. we are beautiful people, if we changed back then we can change again." ( AN: if you get this line comment what it's from. how to refer somewhere.)Everyone was shocked by what James had said other than the Marauders. Though Peter did have a stupid look on his face. (' when doesn't he? stupid rat-looking boy...') Lily was in shock that James had dumped her. Especially for the reason being that she was treating him and his loved ones wrong. It doesn't make sense to her, how he loves that's Sirius Black anyway. Remus, she gets because he's quiet, but why Sirius all he has ever done was bring trouble.
Dumbledore bowed his head. Professor McGonagall gasped.Lily and James... I can't believe it... I didn't want to believe it... Oh, Albus...
"I love you too, professor," James whispered. Sirius was running his fingers through his hair, gently untangling knots with his hand when his fingers get stuck on one. It was calming for them both.
Dumbledore reached out and patted her on the shoulder. I know... I know... he said heavily
to know he cares." James whispered rolling his eyes. "Don't worry about him. We love you and we care for you. We won't let you die this time." Sirius told him quietly. James gave him a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes.
Professor McGonagall's voice trembled as she went on.
"Don't push yourself, Minnie. It's okay, I promise. It's going to be okay." James said quietly, though everyone heard him. It broke so many hearts that even though he knows he's going to die at the dark lord's hands, he is still trying to comfort his head of house. Maybe he isn't as selfish as I thought, thought Severus.
That's not all. They're saying he tried to kill the Potters' son, Harry.
"He would willingly kill an innocent child?" Orion asked. He never really like the Dark Lord, but he believed something was off about him, but he didn't want to upset his wife, so he went along with it. If the Dark Lord is okay going after innocent children, he doesn't know if he'll be able to pretend anymore. Regulus' thoughts were almost the same as his father's. "Please don't be hurt, Harry," James whispered. "I'm sure he's fine. I don't know how, but I believe he is, isn't he the one who sent these books?" Sirius stated softly. The Potters and Remus were hoping the child was okay. They could see how broken James looked and they didn't like it. Lily was glaring hard at James, making him feel worse. Severus and everyone else who had been considering taking the dark mark is now conflicted. They didn't feel comfortable hurting children. Andy just held her Nymphadora closer to her chest.
But he couldn't. He couldn't kill that little boy. No one knows why, or how, but they're saying that when he couldn't kill Harry Potter, Voldemort's power somehow broke and that's why he's gone.
"My baby defeated Voldemort?" James asked in surprise. "I'm so proud baby, but please don't do such dangerous things." He said softly to the book. Lily was thinking about how famous her baby would be and was angry that she wouldn't be able to be in the spotlight with him since she was dead. This is all James' fault! Why did you have to antagonize the dark lord?! She thought. Everyone else was shocked, but also happy because of James' words, He has grown up. Snape and Regulus both thought as did the Mamma and Papa Potter.
Dumbledore nodded glumly. It's true? faltered Professor McGonagall. After all, he's done... all the people he's killed... he couldn't kill a little boy? It's just astounding...of all the things to stop him...
is astounding." Remus said nodding his head. "But why isn't Dumbledore shocked? There is no way he could have seen something like this coming." James stated confused. Sirius looked at James and agreed, Why was Dumbledore so calm?
but how in the name of heaven did Harry survive? We can only guess, said Dumbledore. We may never know.
"I bet he does know. He said 'We can only guess when he knows something." Sirius stated. That was true. Every year they would hear the staff talk about who'll win the house cup and when they ask Dumbledore who he thought would win and look at Gryffindor's table. And every year Gryffindor would somehow gain enough points to win.
Professor McGonagall pulled out a lace handkerchief and dabbed at her eyes beneath her spectacles. Dumbledore gave a great sniff as he took a golden watch from his pocket and examined it. It was a very odd watch. It had twelve hands but no numbers; instead, little planets were moving around the edge. It must have made sense to Dumbledore, though, because he put it back in his pocket and said, Hagrid's late. I suppose it was he who told you I'd be here, by the way?
"What are they even doing there? They should be with Harry in St. Mongos if anything." James and Sirius asked at the same time. "Creepy." Others whispered.
Yes, said Professor McGonagall. And I don't suppose you're going to tell me why you're here, of all places? I've come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle.
WHAT?! No! I do not want my son living with those bastards!" James screamed at the books. "Hey watch how you talk about my sister!" Lily yelled at him. "Well, your sister seems like a snobby, gold-digging, bitch. My son is going to be mistreated in that house because your sister hates you! My son can go live with Sirius and Remus. Hell, he can go live with Minnie or Snape." He stated firmly. Severus was shocked that James trusted him enough to look after his son, but appreciated the jester. Lily was shocked into silence.
They're the only family he has left now.
"No their not! Give him to Sirius or Remus! What about Alice and Frank? Minnie? Andy? Hell, leave him with Snape, Narcissa, or even Regulus. There are so many other choices don't leave him there!" James yelled. Everyone that was in the room that was mentioned was touched that James' was comfortable with them taking care of his son. Lily decided to but right then, "I do not want my son to be raised by death eaters!" She was angry that James' would let her son be raised by death eaters. All of the people who considered joining flinched. "Well, luckily he won't be your son anymore since we are no longer together. Yes, there will be a Harry Potter. I'll convince my lover to name our son that, but there will be no Lily Potter and you will not be the mother." He snapped at her. She was looking at him shocked, "You can't do that!" James looked her straight in eye, "I can and I will. You will never become a Potter if I can help it." She looked at him with so much rage in her eyes others were sure steam was coming from her ears. "Now as I was saying before, I am comfortable with any of the ones I mentioned before taking care of my baby. No offense, but precisely in that order." Nobody took offense as they could tell he didn't mean it in a hurtful way. Bella was kind of hurt she wasn't mentioned but said nothing because she knew she cause Sirius a lot of pain when they were younger.
You don't mean you can't mean the people who live here? cried Professor McGonagall, jumping to her feet and pointing at number four. Dumbledore you cant. I've been watching them all day. You couldn't find two people who are less like us. And they've got this son I saw him kicking his mother up the street, screaming for sweets.
"Thank You! At least someone out of the two can see sense! No offense Minnie, I love you, Minnie!" James said to the book, much to everyone's amusement.
Harry Potter come and live here! It's the best place for him, said Dumbledore firmly. His aunt and uncle will be able to explain everything to him when he's older. I've written them a letter.
"A LETTER?! How can you explain everything in a LETTER?!" James screamed, he sounded a lot like a mother being told they aren't able to hold their baby after they have just given birth.
A letter? repeated Professor McGonagall faintly, sitting back down on the wall. Dumbledore, do you think you can explain all this in a letter?
"THANK YOU! Merlin the headmaster is so stupid!" James growled. Sirius pulled out a calming drought and sleeping drought potion that he always had in his robe pockets in case he ever needed them and gave them to James and told him to drink, he looked at Sirius confused but did as he said. He drank them both and fell into a peaceful sleep. With the help of Remus, they carried him to the empty couch and sat there with James' head in Sirius' lap and his legs across Remus'. "I thought it would be a whole lot easier to finish the chapter with him asleep, so he couldn't rant after every other thing being said." Everyone nodded at him when they looked at him in confusion and shock. "Please continue Bella." Bella nodded still shocked and continued.
These people will never understand him! He'll be famous and a legend I wouldn't be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in the future
Lily had a dreamy look in her eyes at this.
there will be books written about Harry
That's ironic, Snape thought. Sirius and Regulus were thinking along the same lines it seemed since they both snorted.
every child in our world will know his name!
The dreamy gaze on Lily's face grew with each new thing that Harry would have to deal with while being famous. She seemed to like the fact her son was famous. Even if she's dead.
Exactly, said Dumbledore, looking very seriously over the top of his half-moon glasses. It would be enough to turn any boy's head. Famous before he can walk and talk! Famous for something he won't even remember! Cant, you see how much better off he'll be, growing up away from all that until he's ready to take it?
"I like Dumbledore's mindset. He doesn't want Harry growing up snobby." Lily nodded in the agreement with the Headmaster's words. Everyone else looked at her in shock and disgust, "While I agree with him being away from the eyes of the paparazzi and everything, there is still a chance he'll grow up snobby being raised by the Dursleys." Sirius and Remus stated together. They looked at each other in shock but then turned away happy they agree on this. Lily gave Sirius a dirty look, believing he turned everyone against her.
Professor McGonagall opened her mouth, changed her mind, swallowed, and then said, Yes yes, you're right, of course. But how is the boy getting here, Dumbledore?
he isn't Minnie. You are just too scared to talk back to him since he's your boss. You don't want to lose your job." Sirius whispered a little upset for his favorite teacher. Remus gave him a small smile.
She eyed his cloak suddenly as though she thought he might be hiding Harry underneath it.
"He better not be." Sirius and Remus growled, one deeper than the other. Sirius swore he almost got hard hearing Remus growl like that. He blushed a little and turned away so Remus wouldn't see it. Unfortunately, Sirius has horrible luck and Remus saw it. He didn't comment on it though, he did however have a smug smirk on his face, proud of the fact he made him blush.
Hagrid's bringing him. Do you think it wise — to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?
"I would trust Hagrid with my life! Just not with my secrets." Sirius said and those who knew why laughed, those who didn't look confused. "He lets secrets slip a little too easily," Regulus informed. Everyone who didn't know nodded at the explanation.
I would trust Hagrid with my life, said Dumbledore.
Sirius looked sick that he almost said the same thing as the headmaster. Lily glared at him for disrespecting her favorite wizard and a staff member of the school. Staff and Teachers can do no wrong! What is wrong with him! She thought.
I'm not saying his heart isn't in the right place, said Professor McGonagall grudgingly,
"I get what you were saying, Minnie. You don't need to explain yourself." Sirius said softly.
but you can't pretend he's not careless.
"That is true, that is very true."Sirius agreed, not trying to disrespect Hagrid in any way, but agreeing the transfiguration professor had a point.
He does tend to what was that? A low rumbling sound had broken the silence around them. It grew steadily louder as they looked up and down the street for some sign of a headlight; it swelled to a roar as they both looked up at the sky and a huge motorcycle fell out of the air and landed on the road in front of them.
"I WANT ONE!" Sirius screamed. "SHH! Padfoot, you could wake him!" Moony whispered and shouted at the dog animigus. Sirius blushed a little, but did check and see if James was still asleep. James just snuggled closer to Sirius' lap to get more comfortable while he slept. Sirius had a small smile on his face. He said softly, "I still one on." Remus rolled his eyes. "We'll see." Sirius looked at him with stars in his eyes. Remus blushed a little from the look. "Really?" He asked excitedly, but still quiet enough to make sure not to wake his best friend. When Remus nodded, Sirius had a huge smile on his face. "Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!" He said gratefully cheering quietly. Orion's chest was hurting seeing his son like this. He had never in his life seen some happier or at peace.
If the motorcycle was huge, it was nothing to the man sitting astride it. He was almost twice as tall as a normal man and at least five times as wide. He looked simply too big to be allowed, and so wild — long tangles of bushy black hair and beard hid most of his face, he had hands the size of trash can lids, and his feet in their leather boots were like baby dolphins. In his vast, muscular arms he was holding a bundle of blankets.
Everyone raised an eyebrow at the description but said nothing wanting to finish the chapter.
Hagrid, said Dumbledore, sounding relieved. At last. And where did you get that motorcycle? Borrowed it, Professor Dumbledore, sir, said the giant, climbing carefully off the motorcycle as he spoke. Young Sirius Black lent it to me.
"YES! YES! YES!" Sirius whispered shouting. "I get my bike~ I get my bike~..." Sirius sang happily. Orion couldn't help but coo at his son. He wished it was him that made him that happy. Walburga saw her husband coo at her blood traitor for a son but said nothing. She was disappointed in him but said nothing. Remus was just thinking how cute he was being right now. Regulus was upset that he had never seen his brother like this. Is he always like this when I'm not around? He asked himself, though he seemed to already know the answer.
I've got him, sir. No problems, were there? No, sir house was almost destroyed, but I got him out all right before the Muggles started swarming around.
Sirius had lost his smile and all joy had left his face at that. He has almost forgotten that James dies in the future. Remus saw this and reached his hand over and grabbed Sirius'. Sirius smiled at this, but this smile was full of sadness and held no joy. Sirius seemed to believe that as soon as James dies he won't have the ability to be happy for a long time. He just doesn't know why. Remus seemed to know what he was thinking and swore to himself he would never turn his back on Sirius if the reality of their reading ever comes to pass.
He fell asleep as we were flying over Bristol. Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall bent forward over the bundle of blankets. Inside, just visible, was a baby boy, fast asleep.
Sirius cooed a little as did many others, but Sirius was the loudest. Remus smiled at him in awe at how precious he was.
Under a tuft of jet-black hair over his forehead, they could see a curiously shaped cut, like a bolt of lightning. Is that where? whispered Professor McGonagall. Yes, said Dumbledore. Hell has that scar forever.
"Don't worry. We'll find a way for you to never get it Prongslet." Sirius whispered.
Couldn't you do something about it, Dumbledore? Even if I could, I wouldn't.
Sirius glared at the book but said nothing. As did many.
Scars can come in handy. I have one myself above my left knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground. Well give him here, Hagrid we better get this over with. Dumbledore took Harry in his arms and turned toward the Dursleys house.
Now almost everyone was glaring at the book. How can Dumbledore be so insensitive?!
Could I say goodbye to him, sir? asked Hagrid. He bent his great, shaggy head over Harry and gave him what must have been a very scratchy, whiskery kiss. Then, suddenly, Hagrid let out a howl like a wounded dog.
Sirius looked insulted but said nothing. Remus gave a soft chuckle at his face. Sirius sent him a betrayed look and turned away. Trying to pull his hand from his Remus' so he could cross his arms and pout. The keyword here is Trying. When Remus felt Sirius try to pull his hand away, he tightened his grip and wouldn't let go. He bent down towards his hand and gave it a soft kiss. Sirius was blushing a bright red. "Sirius, honey, you think I'm letting you go that easily?" Remus asked teasingly. Sirius's blush got a little darker. "You're mine now okay? You are now my boyfriend, okay?" He said softly looking him straight in the eye. Sirius nodded, "okay." He whispered, scared that it is all a dream, and woke up knowing, he was never Remus'. He wants to be Remus and Remus alone. So, he hopes this isn't a dream.
Shhh! hissed Professor McGonagall, you'll wake the Muggles! S-s-sorry, sobbed Hagrid, taking out a large, spotted handkerchief and burying his face in it. But I c-c-can't stand it Lily and James dead
Sirius flinched a little, as did Remus. Mr. and Mrs. Potter had silent tears rolling down their faces, as did Severus, but no one said anything. Lily just looked angry that she was dead.
a poor little Harry off ter live with Muggles Yes, yes, it all very sad, but get a grip on yourself, Hagrid, or we'll be found, Professor McGonagall whispered, patting Hagrid gingerly on the arm as Dumbledore stepped over the low garden-wall and walked to the front door. He laid Harry gently on the doorstep, took a letter out of his cloak, tucked it inside Harry's blankets, and then came back to the other two.
"He left my godson on a doorstep in November?!" Sirius whispers shouting on the verge of yelling. The only thing keeping him from yelling was the fact that James was sleeping in his lap. Almost everyone else looked angry too. Everyone except three people was angry James, who was sleeping peacefully, Lily, who believed the Headmaster had very good reasons for his actions and doesn't believe he did it to hurt anyone, and Walburga who didn't care what happened to the filthy half-breed.
For a full minute, the three of them stood and looked at the little bundle; Hagrid's shoulders shook, Professor McGonagall blinked furiously, and the twinkling light that usually shone from Dumbledore's eyes seemed to have gone out.
"See he does care!" Lily screeched. James shifted a bit from the noise, but nothing more. "SHHH! You'll wake him!" Sirius whisper and shouted at the redhead, pointing to James. She rolled her eyes but said nothing more.
Well, said Dumbledore finally, that's that. We've no business staying here. We may as well go and join the celebrations.
"Oh, so you're going to celebrate the day my best friend died and my godson almost died?! I can't see why I ever looked up to him." Sirius said disgustedly. Many agreed, again all but Lily. She was about to say something, but Severus pulled his wand out and put a silencing charm on her. "That should be enough to finish the chapter." Sirius and many others smiled their thanks at him, while others nodded. He gave a small smile and nod back to each of them, and then Bella continued.
Yeah, said Hagrid in a very muffled voice, I'd best get this bike away.
Sirius gave another small smile at the fact that this was his bike. Remus just gave his hand a small squeeze and kissed it again, making the black-haired boy blush.
Gnight, Professor McGonagall Professor Dumbledore, sir. Wiping his streaming eyes on his jacket sleeve, Hagrid swung himself onto the motorcycle and kicked the engine into life; with a roar, it rose into the air and off into the night. I shall see you soon, I expect, Professor McGonagall, said Dumbledore, nodding to her. Professor McGonagall blew her nose in reply.
"You'll be okay Professor. You always are." Sirius whispered. You know there's something wrong when he doesn't use your respective nickname. Remus just tightened his hold on the others hand and gave it another kiss.
Dumbledore turned and walked back down the street. On the corner, he stopped and took out the silver Put-Outer.
still like my name better." Sirius pouted. Remus chuckled, "So do I." Sirius's eyes brightened a bit at this and gave his werewolf a soft smile.
He clicked it once, and twelve balls of light sped back to their street lamps so that Privet Drive glowed suddenly orange and he could make out a tabby cat slinking around the corner at the other end of the street. He could just see the bundle of blankets on the step of number four. Good luck, Harry, he murmured. He turned on his heel and with a swish of his cloak, he was gone.
still don't like how he left Harry on the doorstep in November." Sirius said a little angry at the headmaster. "I know, but he'll be okay," Remus whispered to him. Sirius nodded, but he still wasn't happy. And you could tell many others weren't either.
A breeze ruffled the neat hedges of Privet Drive, which lay silent and tidy under the inky sky, the very last place you would expect astonishing things to happen. Harry Potter rolled over inside his blankets without waking up.
Sirius cooed a little at this. "My poor, poor baby must be freezing." He said to himself, but everyone heard him. Lily glared at him, Harry's not his baby! He's mine! My famous baby, Mine, and James Famous Harry Potter - Defeater of Voldemort. My famous Harry. Almost everyone else seemed to think it was sweet that Sirius could see James' baby as his own.
One small hand closed on the letter beside him and he slept on, not knowing he was special, not knowing he was famous,
Almost everyone else was upset with this revelation. How will Harry feel when he finds out he's famous for surviving when his parents didn't.
didn't.
not knowing he would be woken in a few hours by Mrs. Dursleys scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley.
Almost everyone growled at this, again all but 3. James, Lily, and Walburga.
couldn't know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: To Harry Potter the boy who lived!
"And that's the end of the chapter," Bellatrix said. "Finally that took forever!" Sirius complained. Remus snorted at him but said nothing. Everyone else agreed, but Lily was still angry at Sirius for making her beloved James dump her. I'll get him back, one way or another...She thought. As well as being angry at Severus for silencing her with a spell. They are childhood friends, where is his decency. It must have gone out the window when he called her a Mudblood because of Sirius and her beloved James. Though she mostly blamed Sirius for this.
