Diluc
He sighed to himself, laying his head back while spinning himself in his office chair.
It's been 40 minutes and I still haven't gotten any work done. He thought to himself as he cursed his insomnia. He heard someone knock at the door. "Come in." He said.
His assistant, Adelinde walked in. "Mr. Ragnvindr, you seem quite exhausted. Would you like for me to go downstairs and get you an energy drink?"
"No that's alright. I'll go get it myself. Maybe it'll wake me up a bit."
"Very well then." She walked up to him and set down a set of documents on his desk. The blonde woman then left.
He tried reading a bit of them, but his eyelids were too heavy. "How come I'm always sleepy at the wrong time?" He groaned as he got up to go get his energy drink.
Stepping out of the elevator, he tried getting some coins out of his pockets.
Many people greeted him formally as he walked around. Most of them were panicking. Who wouldn't when you're slacking off and your CEO decides to pay a visit to your floor?
He greeted them briefly and rolled his eyes when he was faced with the vending machine so no one would see. He looked for an energy drink so he could dial the number and pay.
You've got to be kidding me. His eyes slightly widened when he realized there were no energy drinks.
He turned to a woman walking by him and stopped her. "You."
The woman slowly turned around. "Yes Mr. Ragnvindr?"
"Can you check if there are energy drinks in this machine? I can't tell if my insomnia's getting to me or if there really isn't anything." He sighed as he rubbed his temples.
"Oh, yes sir."
"Thank you." He smiled gently. Was it a real smile though? Next question.
The woman checked. She turned around to her boss. "Your vision is fine. There's really nothing in here. Sir."
"Thank you very much."
She nodded and left. Whispering to herself about how weird her CEO apparently was.
Diluc couldn't care less. "Guess I'm getting coffee."
Ding
You slightly flinched at the sound of the door being opened.
You checked the time on your phone. It's 6:13. We rarely get customers at this hour...
"I'll go take care of it." Ganyu walked to the client who was now sitting at a table.
"Thanks." You said.
You continued minding your own business. The blue haired girl came back.
"What did they order?"
"Black coffee and a... croissant." She said hesitantly.
"You okay?" You asked her as you got a croissant out of the display case.
"Yeah I'm fine." She said in a daze.
"Ganyu?"
"He was... he was so handsome..." she clasped her chest.
You, Lumine and Samantha looked at each other confused. "What?!" You all yelled.
"It's true!"
Lumine laughed. "How come everyone has a crush now?!"
You sighed. "Ganyu you sure that's the reason?"
"Yes."
Sam joined Lumine in laughter. "Who knew Ganyu was a sucker for pretty men?"
"I like everything that's pretty." She said innocently.
"Aren't you adorable." You chuckled lightly. "I'm gonna go get him his order now."
You walked up to the man. His back facing you.
"Here's your orde-"
"Y/N?" He said.
"Dawn?" You replied. "You really did come?"
"Yes, I needed coffee."
"At 6:13?"
"I was working but couldn't stay awake."
"What do you do?" You sat down in front him.
"I'm just your average businessman." He chuckled lightly as he took a sip from his coffee.
Which surprised you. You blushed as you examined him. He was wearing a white dress shirt with a blue tie. Fit for an average businessman.
Ganyu was right.
"You said you had trouble staying awake?"
"Yes, and in a perfect world I'd just go home but I have too much work."
"Scared of your boss nagging you?" You asked as you rested your cheek in the palm of your hand.
"Yeah guess you could say that." The lie came out smoothly. He didn't like lying to her but saying that he owned his company could risk her finding out who he was. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Shoot." you replied.
"Are you and Zhongli dating?" He asked.
"Why does everyone think that? I met the man last week." You chuckled lightly.
"Well he talks about you a lot. Never seen him like this before." The red haired man infront of you took a bite out of his croissant.
"Really? I'm nothing special though." You shrugged.
He did the same. "I wouldn't be so sure. If Zhongli finds you interesting, then there has to be a reason. You're a very beautiful woman." He kept his gaze on you.
You cleared your throat. "Um thank you but I don't see how that would make me special."
"Wait no-"
"I'd love to stay and chat but I have work to do. Enjoy your food." You glared at him and got up.
Once you rejoined the girls, Ganyu and Lumine looked confused. "You know him?" Lumine asked.
"He's the man Sam convinced you I have a crush on." You explained non-chalantly, trying to keep your nerves in check.
"Well? How is he?" Ganyu asked you.
"He said that he thinks I'm special because his friend apparently talks about me a lot even though we met a week ago." You explained. "And red-head over there is convinced it's just because I'm a "beautiful woman" " you scoffed.
"Oh wow. What a jerk." Sam admitted.
"Yeah well, you can always rely on men for surprises." You chuckled bitterly.
Diluc
A few days later
The man walked into the immense and regal library looking for his friend.
He made his way to the counter, but was unfortunately only met with his friend's co-worker. "Albedo, is Zhongli here today?"
"Yeah he's reading stories to kids in the child section." He pointed over.
He nodded and made his way to said area.
"The wolf then goes-" the brunette man started before he was interrupted.
"Zhongli can I talk to you for a second?" Diluc whispered.
"I'm a bit busy."
"Please."
"What do you think kids? Should I go talk to my friend or continue reading?"
"Friends are important!" One of the children said.
"Yeah!" The rest chimed in.
"I'll be back in five minutes." He got up and walked Diluc out of the kid's section.
"I need your help." The red head started.
"I'm not sure how I could possibly help you." He chuckled, referring to his friend being independent.
"It's about Y/N."
Zhongli nodded.
"I accidentally offended her. And I want to apologize to her by buying her a gift, but I don't know what I should get her."
"Okay, first off, how did you manage to get on her bad side? And second of all, I hope you're not hoping just a gift is enough."
"You know I lack social interaction and no, of course not. I'll apologize to her verbally. I just want to get her a gift."
"Alright well, I do remember her saying that she liked stuffed animals."
"Stuffed animals?"
"Yes, and tulips."
"Stuffed animals and tulips... okay got it. Thank you."
"One last thing before you leave."
"Yes?"
"You don't need to get her anything. I don't know her that well, but I believe she isn't that type of person. As long as you're sincere, I think she'll forgive you."
Diluc remained silent. "I'm not great with words. The gift's a backup." He patted his friend on the shoulder.
Zhongli chuckled before turning around and rejoining the kids.
