Unique. That's a word, isn't it? It means "to be different, or special." Some will take it as a compliment, others do not. At least that's how it should be.
See, in the world we live in, certain people are, unique. Meaning they have powers. That's not a compliment. People, uniques, are hunted. They are hated by society. By everyone, really. The thing is, it's not genetic, it's a mutation. Anyone in your family can get it, it's random, but uncommon. Some people are lucky enough that, if they do get it, they have a good family. A family that protects them. Until the end.
Others aren't so lucky. Others are forced out of there homes, onto the streets, some flat out murdered, some are even taken to the facilities, "For testing".
There is hope for Uniques, though. A safe place. But very few make it to the safe place, hopefully I'll be one of those few.
My name is Phoenix Mell, I'm 15 years old and have known about my unique-ness for 3 years. I've also been on the run for 3 years. But, I'm searching, for a home, a family, a safe place where I don't have to fear for my life. This is my story.
