Ciane

Two weeks had gone by in a blur. Christian was anything but gentle. I had learnt that the hard way the first time his fist had hit me. He lacked emotions and he enjoyed torturing me. I had seen firsthand how sadistic he could be. After he had 'emotionally tortured' me, his training had grown even harder. I was on the verge of giving up most of the time but somehow, somehow I got the strength to keep going.

I also noticed that in those two weeks, my body was becoming more toned, more muscled and I wasn't complaining one bit. It was one of the perks of the vigorous and tormenting training I was going through. The only one actually.

Today however, when I awoke at the right time, Christian was no where to be seen. I was so accustomed to our daily routine that his sudden disappearance was quite odd and left an uncomfortable feeling within me. I barely knew him and wouldn't say I was overly concerned for the guy but I was curious. What could have possibly come up?

Maybe it's another of his crazy 'tests' and I knew I needed to be ready for a thorough session with him. However, an hour later, I knew he wasn't going to show up. I sighed and dropped down on the mat, my legs and arms spread wide apart from each other as I made 'mat angels'

I was already so bored laying on the mat so with a rash decision, which I knew I'd completely regret, I get up and match towards his supposed room. I had ever really gone there after the time I had accidentally seen him crying his eyes out.

I match towards his said room and pushed the door open only to be met with. . .nothing. He wasn't in and it looked like he hadn't been in for an entire night. Maybe he went out? But where?

In the past few months I've been here, he had never gone out. Always doing something or training me. I always tried my best to avoid him at all cost. I did not know what to think of his sudden disappearance and I honestly did not want to know.

I prepare myself some coffee and made a few pancakes for myself. Surprisingly, he had said he didn't mind if I used any of the things and food he had. Of course he did not state it out.

*

Two days later and he still wasn't back. Each morning I woke up at 4.00am and headed to the training ground. Maybe he got bored and abandoned me in this gigantic house in the middle of nowhere.

It was early morning and I was busy taking my second cup of coffee when a loud noise echoes through the empty house. I ignore it not ready to move away from the comfort of my sit. I try to take a sip only for the same noise to interrupt my mood. I knew I had to go and check. Maybe it's another rogue? That shocks me and I immediately shoot up from my sit, heading towards the door, where the noise was growing quite loud as if someone wanted to get in.

I quietly tiptoed towards the source, my eyes eyeing the bat that was by the couch. Reasons it was there? I didn't know but I was thankful for it. With quick fluid movements, I run over and grab it, clutching it tightly with both my hands. I tip toe towards the door where the same noise was still coming from. I knew I wasn't really trained much but I wouldn't go down without a fight. Without Christian here, I had to fend for myself and realize that I was already a grown woman who needs to fight her own battles.

I knew I had to act quickly before the culprit could sense or smell me. I quickly unlocked the door, ready to deliver a life uttering blow. The bat, however, remains mid air when my eyes focuses on the form of the person outside.

My eyes widen comically as I stared at the being who was currently slumped on the floor, his eyes barely open. His face was black and blue with bruises and bloody gushes all over his now barely clad form. I was beyond shocked. What had happened to him. No words left my mouth as I focused on his now closed eyes, breath coming out shallow and barely there.

What happened to him? Was he attacked? But. . . But he's skilled? Who would have done this to him?

"Christian?" I mutter finally realizing the severity of the situation.

Dropping the bat, I clutch his hands that were already laying motionless on his side. I try to lift him, only for me to fall straight on him. He lets out a groan and I knew I had worsened his injuries. I quickly shoot up, taking a few steps away from him.

"Christian, can you get up?" I almost face palm at the outrageous question. Of course he couldn't get up.

Using the little strength that I had I repeat the same thing and this time, I'm successful. I manage to lift him up, and cooperatively, he slings his arm on my shoulder. I push the door open with my foot and slowly lead him inside.

"Umph" I hiss when we almost tumble down. I could tell he was barely conscious and I was praying hard he did not have any internal injury because there'd be nothing I'd do for him.

He was weighing me down but I pushed myself harder leading him up the stairs, each step harder than the last.

I was almost passing out too when we reached his room. I, as gently as I could, laid him on his bed before heading to his bathroom to look for bandages and anything I could use to treat the wounds littered on both his face, arms and hands.

Who would have done this to him? Didn't he fight back? Whoever did it must have gotten away with more wounds that he did. Or so I hope.

I position myself right next to him before I began tending to his wounds. He didn't make any sound even though I was sure the antiseptic stung  a lot. After dressing all his wounds, I had nothing else to do. He now looked like a creepy version of a mummy with almost the entire side of his head wrapped in a white bandage.

I took a step and stared at his form that was too calm for my liking. I closed my eyes praying that he'd get better and not die on me. I honestly don't know where I'd put his body if he died. I barely knew him and I didn't know if some relatives would come looking for him or maybe his pack would feel his death? And his mate? I'd never thought of that. He is a complete mystery to me and I was starting to get very weary of it all.

"What the heck happened to you, Christian?" I mutter to myself, knowing fully well I wouldn't get any answer.

I sighed knowing I'd have to come and check and change his bandages soon, if he doesn't die that is. I leave the room and head to the kitchen to prepare some soup in case he woke up hungry. I knew he wouldn't even care that I prepared food for him but I wasn't going to let him starve to death.

A few hours later, the food was already ready and I was preparing myself a cup of hot chocolate. I was ready to head upstairs when I heard a loud scream coming from Christian's room. Without a second thought, I find myself already running towards the room.

Maybe the person had come back to finish what they started? But I would have heard it?

I quickly push the door open ready to tackle the attacker and protect Christian. However, for the second time in a row, my eyes widen in shock as I stared at him. He had tears rolling down his cheeks in a heavy flow. His eyes were closed shut and I instantly knew he was having a nightmare.

It might not even have been a nightmare for I had experienced it too before. I had had the same reaction too and I was frozen.

I did not know what to do.

"No, please don't do it. Don't hurt them. I will do anything. . ." He pleaded, every word uttered filled with pain and utter misery. The Christian I knew, the tough and ruthless man who had trained me a few weeks back was nowhere to be seen. Here was a broken man, crying his heart out for things and people o did not know and for the first time, I felt empathy for him. He had his own fights, demons chasing him.

I take a step towards him and my legs seems to finally work as I ran towards his bed. I instantly held his hand and when he pulled away, I got closer to him, pulling him to my side in an embrace. A much needed one.

"Christian. . .listen to my voice. None of it is real. None of what you're seeing is real. It's all just a dream." I repeat the phrase over and over again until finally stopped muttering the  words. I turned to his face only to see him deep in sleep.

I sighed and slowly pulled away from him and exited the room. I honestly did not like how rude and emotionless he has been but, for once, I almost understood why. I almost understood the urge and need to hide his emotions.

I didn't even know if I wanted to tell him what had unfolded tonight.

But something I was certain of was something had happened to Christian.  Something painful and dark.
