▬▬▬▬▬ㅤ 𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐘 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐄𝐃, sitting on top of the highest branch of an oak tree, she wondered how long it would take for her family to realize she was gone. Sol could only hope they wouldn't search near Camelot first, or else she would be dragged to ᛗᚨ's house and locked there for eternity to "rot by her side", as she had said, and now regretted with pure embarrassment, to the matriarch.

ㅤㅤㅤDeciding not to put too much thought into that for now, the sun fairy took a small twig in her hands to play with it as she extended her left wing, watching its reflection on the white walls: the yellow and orange from her butterfly patterned wings shone on the bricks and Solaomoni smiled at how beautiful it was to look at.

ㅤㅤㅤShe observed it carefully, painted the image in her mind, and burned it into her memories; Sol knew she would never have the chance to look at it again. Albeit her viceroy-patterned wings were forever, Camelot's walls were not.

ㅤㅤㅤShe would miss the ladies complaining about the weather, and also the great smell of blueberry that passed by every now and then, and also the lovesick sighs of random girls every time a specific young man ━or, as they called him, "Pretty Boy"━ walked near them and greeted them with only a word.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Ladies!" Sol recalled Pretty Boy's greeting in a hushed tone, trying her best to copy his low tone of voice and giggling right after at how silly it sounded.

ㅤㅤㅤThen she decided to walk around the walls, something she had never done before, just to remember the place completely before going back to Eriynx.

ㅤㅤㅤSolaomoni was a bit hesitant at first━ was it worth it to take the risk of getting seen by humans just because she was curious about a particular white wall? No. Sol did it anyway, she liked the adrenaline, and it should be healthy to have a high dose of that every once in a while.

ㅤㅤㅤJumping from tree to tree ━a shame she couldn't use her wings at the moment, as the forest around her was too crowded with trees around the humans' home and some of the twigs could easily rip or even break her sensitive wings, which was something Sol was not fearless enough to take the risk━, she observed carefully as each sound of the south side of the walls became more distant while others from the west came closer.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Bread! Bread! Come get a fresh loaf of bread!" someone shouted, rather unenthusiastic about their product as they announced it lower and lower, even yawning every once in a while.

ㅤㅤㅤThe smell was glorious. If Sol had to guess ━which she didn't, but she liked the challenge━ cardamom and cinnamon were used, she could easily tell that by the strong, and wonderful, smell. Kanelbullar. Solaomoni heard someone mention how good they were and how the cardamom complemented the dessert, although she never had the chance to smell it in a human recipe.

ㅤㅤㅤShe inhaled the smell, trying to remember it so she could try and replicate that recipe at home. Cinnamon, cardamom, and the base dough humans created to make their pastry ━flour, eggs, sugar, and maybe salt, if Sol was not mistaken━. Sol wouldn't dare to forget.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Did you hear?" Sol put a hand behind her ear to hear better━ she wasn't one to enjoy gossiping, but the humans were always doing something interesting and she couldn't help but feel excited about anything that happened inside Camelot. "The trolls that were in the king's chambers escaped!"

ㅤㅤㅤ"What?! Who let that happen?" another voice whispered back to the first one, albeit a bit loud, even while whispering.

ㅤㅤㅤ"We all think it was Morgana," the king's sister, as Solaomoni heard before. "But we don't know yet."

ㅤㅤㅤ"I don't doubt it," the other one snorted in mockery. "That witch is a monster lover."

ㅤㅤㅤIt was a shame, Sol thought, that the humans were so discriminatory toward trolls. She had never met one, but in the first Eriynxinian war ━in a time where Eriynx wasn't even called Eriynx yet, but Drupyn instead━ they refused to fight by Gunmar's side━ the enemy's side.

ㅤㅤㅤAnd, for that only, she held some respect for their kind, but she knew they feared hers simply because of how the fairies won the first and second war against the Gumm-Gumm king.

ㅤㅤㅤ"I heard that the king is out in search of them, he plans to kill them all." Sol's heart dropped. She knew the trolls resided in Dwoza, beyond the Wild Wood, but her own home wasn't so far from there, and that meant that her whole family was in danger.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Finally, we'll be at peace! No more danger outside." the other person sighed, and Solaomoni took that as a sign she should leave, because as much as she appreciated the humans' culture and talks, she wasn't welcome there. That was enough to make her more than upset, it was a shame that she would never get to truly meet a human without being in danger.

ㅤㅤㅤFor a moment, Sol wondered if peace would've been possible if there wasn't fear on any of the sides of the war.

ㅤㅤㅤShe jumped to a tree behind her and didn't stop jumping until the sound of footsteps and screams were starting to get close. Sol froze, she stopped right there and hid behind the tree's trunk as she sat on one of its branches, covering her mouth with both hands to hide her rushed breath to not get caught.

ㅤㅤㅤThe fairy could hear her heart in her ears and almost felt it jumping out of her chest, her ears started ringing and she shivered at how cold it suddenly was. Sol gulped as a creature ran near the tree she was hiding in and looked back to see if they managed to lose them, catching Sol's gaze accidentally ━she should've known it would happen, her eyes weren't exactly made to be furtive, being almost as bright as the sun and so round that she always looked wide-eyed━ and staring at her for a long minute, almost as if stuck in a trance. Their magenta-colored eyes were equally as hypnotizing, Sol couldn't look away.

ㅤㅤㅤThe troll's eyes lowered to her poorly hidden wings and widened, finally realizing what she was.

ㅤㅤㅤ"There it is!" a voice called, making the troll turn to it and stumble back, not hesitating as they ran in the opposite direction as the humans.

ㅤㅤㅤThere were so many knights following the one who shouted that surely they would catch the troll in less than a minute. Sol couldn't let them die like that, she just couldn't.

ㅤㅤㅤ☀︎︎

ㅤㅤㅤAnd, instead of watching it happen, she raised her left wing and let the light of the sun reflect through it directly into one of the humans' eyes.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Ah!" he dropped his sword to cover his eyes with his palms, Sol hid again as the other knights finally reached the blonde human.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Sir Lancelot! What bothers you?" a young voice called, running to 'Sir Lancelot''s side as he quietly sobbed. The knight gestures to somewhere near the trees, not sure where the attack came from.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Something... something in the trees just blinded me!" he blinked, then, again and again, to try and open his eyes forcefully. He was being dramatic, Sol figured, as she hadn't even burned his eyes that much.

ㅤㅤㅤ"In the..." the knight who stood by his side turned to the trees, pointing as soon as he saw a glimpse of Solaomoni on one of them. "There! I see it!"

ㅤㅤㅤOh no.

ㅤㅤㅤSol stepped back, still trying to stay in her hiding spot, but the same knight who managed to see her was already behind the tree and ready to get her there. She stepped back again, watching as the man gasped at the sight of her shiny eyes, but there was no ground for her to step onto when trying to get away, and so Sol fell helplessly to the grass on her stomach, taking all the air from her lungs with the impact.

ㅤㅤㅤ"What is that...?" she couldn't tell which one spoke this time.

ㅤㅤㅤThey were all too close, she could feel it, and it made her stomach turn and her face become cold in a single second.

ㅤㅤㅤSol was terrified━ she never actually expected to meet a human, and now that seven of them stood in front of her she couldn't help but feel conflicted. They all looked like fairies, it was the absence of wings and brightness in the eyes that made them different.

ㅤㅤㅤSolaomoni and the humans weren't as different from each other as she had expected.

ㅤㅤㅤShe couldn't focus on one thing at once, there was too much happening. All eyes were on her, widened, and as terrified as she was, but they had much more to protect themselves than she did. All she had was half of an invisibility potion, an acid poison bottle, and a pocket knife.

ㅤㅤㅤAs much as she tried to control her breathing, it was hard to think of taking deep breaths when danger was quite literally circling her. Sol's vision was starting to whiten in the corners of her desperate fear. The world was spinning━ she felt like passing out at any moment.

ㅤㅤㅤSolaomoni had no option but to work with what she had.

ㅤㅤㅤAs soon as one of the guards extended his sword to try and poke her with it, Sol twirled her left leg around, then kicked his wrist to disarm him and rolled to avoid his sword as it fell right where she was laying on the grass ━she hadn't been very smart there, Solaomoni should've aimed her kick better, if her reaction had been delayed by only half a second she could've been pierced by a human's sword━. The guards took that as a sign that she was not friendly and raised their weapons in a quick second.

ㅤㅤㅤTaking out her pocket knife with shakey hands, Sol couldn't focus her eyes on anything, not on the seven knights, not on her surroundings, and not on the two approaching humans.

ㅤㅤㅤOne hand on the grass and the other on her weapon, she pretended to push herself forward to attack and the knights gave a step back to block, Sol used the distance in her favor as she turned quickly with her wings open to use the strength of the air to move quicker, then she ran, skipping some steps as the flutter of her wings made her feel light on the ground.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Quick! Get it before it runs away!" 'Sir Lancelot' commanded, running ahead to catch the fairy before she could outrun them.

ㅤㅤㅤNo, no, no. That wasn't good. Sol didn't expect the humans to be fast. Not as fast as she was, that is━ Sol was never known to be especially fast, but she still suspected she'd be faster that a simple human, a being with no wings to help and much more body mass.

ㅤㅤㅤA rope to her ankle pulled her back, making her fall on her stomach again. Sol hit her chin on the ground and bit her tongue in the process, her knife was knocked out of her hands by her fall and now it was too distant for her to get it back so easily. With a groan, she pulled on the grass to get away from the humans once the rope started pulling her back, but it was of no use. Desperate breaths left her as she pulled the grass faster until dirt got under her nails and markings began appearing on the grass where she pulled.

ㅤㅤㅤ"ᚾᚨᚩ! ᚾᚨᚩ, ᚹᚩᚱ ᚠᚨᦾᚩᚱ!" she cried and begged as if that were enough.

ㅤㅤㅤFor a moment, only a quick second, the rope stopped pulling, then two of the humans pulled on each of her arms until she was facing two new humans, one of them was big and wore a piece of gold in his head while the other was old and held a magic staff in his hands while also pulling on a magic rope connected to Sol's ankle.

ㅤㅤㅤThe old human had an amused expression on his face, one raised eyebrow and wandering eyes that went from Sol's eyes to her wings again and again.

ㅤㅤㅤShe struggled against the humans' hold, kicking the far ground ━even with her rather tall stature, she was still shorter than the humans and that left her a few inches off the ground as they held her so strongly that it was already leaving red marks on her skin━ and groaning in anger at her failed attempts at escaping their grasp. There was no way she would let inferior creatures like those humans take her like that.

ㅤㅤㅤ"What is that creature, Merlin?" the one with a golden circle in his head spoke, so calm that it made Sol shiver━ she didn't like how he looked at her with such disgust, she had to be the one looking at him that way, not the other way around.

ㅤㅤㅤ"A fairy, My Lord." the old one ━Merlin━ murmured back, releasing the magic rope to scratch his short beard. As he stopped holding the rope, it disappeared into thin air, leaving behind traces of green magic. "From Eriynx, by the language she speaks."

ㅤㅤㅤHow did he know that?

ㅤㅤㅤSol stopped struggling, shocked as she looked up at the old wizard. He narrowed his eyes at her, seeing as she recognized the name of her home.

ㅤㅤㅤHer curiosity as to why the human knew where she was from lasted only a moment as she started struggling again. Now that she had calmed down a bit, Sol could see and hear better, and the incessant rattling of liquid from the side of her hip was starting to piss her off. Glancing at it, Sol held in a gasp as she remembered her poison bottle.

ㅤㅤㅤWith no plan whatsoever ━which was a terrible thing, considering Sol was not good at improvising━ Solaomoni brought her legs up in a way that she felt heavier for the humans, who almost dropped her with the new weight added, then used the momentum to put one of her feet on the back of the knee of one of them and kick it, forcefully bending their leg and making him get on his knees.

ㅤㅤㅤWithout the support from one of the sides, the other knight released her arm. With her free hand, Sol took her poison bottle and threw it on the big human ━their "Lord", it seemed━, although she was instead aiming at the wizard by his side, and turned back to try and pry the other human's hands away from her arm as they still held it with all their might.

ㅤㅤㅤHer attack wasn't fast enough, another one of the humans got in front of the man to protect him from the poison with their shield, glancing at its front as pieces of it melted away with the acid poison.

ㅤㅤㅤ"ᛗᛖ ᛋᚩᛚᛏᚨ, ᛋᛖᚢ ᚹᚢᛏᚩ!" she kicked the person who was still holding her in the face, making him let go of her arm, but as Solaomoni lost her balance and fell back, she felt someone else's arm hold her, trapping her arms under theirs as they practically hugged her from behind.

ㅤㅤㅤ"It seems she's a fighter." Merlin scoffed, approaching the fae with a frown. Sol got scared when he started extending his hand towards her face and acted on impulse, biting it in the side. With a pained growl, the wizard's frown got heavier and he waved a hand over her face as if to slap her, instead throwing a spell over her eyes.

ㅤㅤㅤSol's eyelids grew heavy as her struggling breaths slowly calmed down. She did her best to stay awake, but the spell was too strong for her to simply fight it.

ㅤㅤㅤ☀︎︎

ㅤㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤㅤ

ㅤㅤㅤ𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐎𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈 𝐆𝐀𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐊𝐄, she could've sworn that nightmare would last forever. Sol absurdly hated nightmares.

ㅤㅤㅤShe looked to her left, then to her right, but didn't recognize the room.

ㅤㅤㅤAh, that wasn't a nightmare after all.

ㅤㅤㅤThe fairy paused for a moment, then stood up abruptly and forced herself to the bars in front of her, but she couldn't get close to them. Looking back, there were chains on both her wrists and even on her ankles. The feeling of cold iron and leather on the lower part of her face was odd, she couldn't open her mouth under the uncomfortable mask they put on her.

ㅤㅤㅤThe sound of footsteps made Sol give a few steps back, her back colliding with the cold wall of the cell.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Finally, the beast is awake." the strong voice of the man who looked at her with hatred in his eyes made her shiver again. She stared at him from behind the bars, breathing heavily, then looked at the man by his side. "Take the muzzle off of it, Merlin. It needs to speak."

ㅤㅤㅤ"Yes, My Lord." the wizard nodded and raised his hands. Something rattled behind Sol's ear, then the muzzle fell to the floor with a clink. Finally able to open her mouth, somehow Solaomoni could breathe better.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Ask it why was it invading our grounds." the wizard's Lord commanded.

ㅤㅤㅤ"ᚩ ᚲᚢᛖ ᚠᚨᛘIᚨ ᛖᛗ ᚾᚩᛋᛋᚩ ᛚᚨᚱ?" it surprised her that the old man knew how to speak her language, on top of knowing it existed at all.

ㅤㅤㅤSol didn't answer at first, and that was enough to anger the Lord as he hit the bars with his fist, making Sol jump.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Answer!" he demanded of her, but she stayed silent.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Your Highness, if I may speak, we must give it a moment. It must still be in shock from the capture." Merlin quietly suggested and the Lord simply scoffed at that.

ㅤㅤㅤ'Your Highness' was what the humans called their king, as far as Sol was aware. That brute with a disgusting-looking face was their king.

ㅤㅤㅤThey should be embarrassed of  letting such a man command them.

ㅤㅤㅤ"ᚨᚩ ᛗᛖᚾᚩᛋ ᛞᛖ-ᚾᚩᛋ ᛋᛖᚢ ᚾᚩᛗᛖ." the wizard looked at her with softer eyes, albeit his hardness was still there, stuck to his face alongside his expression lines.

ㅤㅤㅤShe wondered for a minute if it was a good idea to give out her name as asked of her.

ㅤㅤㅤOnly the most trusted people had knowledge of her language, but Sol would've remembered if she had ever seen a human in her home. He was old and most likely had seen much more than she could ever wish of, Sol figured it wouldn't be too unusual if he had ever met anyone from her land when it was still called Drupyn. She wondered who he could've met there that she would never have the chance to.

ㅤㅤㅤSolaomoni wasn't one to simply trust a human like that, as much as she respected ━even as much as admire━ their culture, they were all humans, vile creatures who took a liking to destroying pieces of her land and taking it as their own.

ㅤㅤㅤBut if someone trusted that wizard enough to give out their language, then so would she to give out her name.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Solaomoni Ilzzetrum."

ㅤㅤㅤThe king frowned, confused by her sudden words. The wizard by his side nodded slowly and turned to his Lord.

ㅤㅤㅤ"That is her name, your Highness." he explained, the softness he had shown completely gone.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Hm. So the beast has a name, after all." he crossed his arms over his chest. "A long one, even. It shouldn't expect me to say all of that every time I am to call for it, you tell it that, Merlin."

ㅤㅤㅤSol scoffed.

ㅤㅤㅤ"If you're so lazy that you can't say a few syllables, then you may just call me Solamon Izzet, your highness."

ㅤㅤㅤSilence.

ㅤㅤㅤ"It knows our language!" the king exclaimed, his face red in anger for having to wait for Merlin to translate everything he said just for it to not be necessary at all.

ㅤㅤㅤ"By my beard..." Merlin scratched his beard again, an amused look in his eyes. "How much do you know, Solamon?"

ㅤㅤㅤ"A lot." she shrugged, simply.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Then what were you doing in my land, beast?!" the king hit the bars again.

ㅤㅤㅤ"You were in my land first!" she stood close to the bars, ignoring the chains pulling her arms and ankles back as she frowned at the king. "You hunt those of my kind, steal my land as if it's yours to take, and expect us to respect you?! Where is your respect?!"

ㅤㅤㅤ"You are all monsters who take the lives of my kind, you deserve no such privilege as my respect!" he shouted right back at her, to which Sol responded by spitting in his shoe.

ㅤㅤㅤShe smirked as the king growled in anger, ready to go inside her cell. The wizard stopped him by getting in front of him with his hands raised.

ㅤㅤㅤ"My Lord, don't. It's important for us to know if the rest of the fae are a threat before taking action with one of them. If they know of us, our language, and strategies, it is possible that they are planning on joining forces with Gunmar and trade the information."

ㅤㅤㅤ"What?! No! Gunmar is our enemy as well as yours, we would never join forces with that brute." Sol spat with a frown. She thought Merlin would know more than that, Solaomoni had expected too much from a human.

ㅤㅤㅤ"We can't be so sure of that, can we?" he raised an eyebrow at her, then sighed. "How about this, My Lord," he turned to the king again. "If the fairy can prove to me that she and her kind aren't any kind of threat to us, we let her go. The fae is not one to meddle with, her kind is strong enough to defeat our kind with ease, keeping her here for too long can create conflict instead of avoiding one."

ㅤㅤㅤThe king turned to the fairy, then to Merlin. Eventually, he huffed and nodded his head.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Very well," he turned to her with anger burning in his blue eyes. "I will let you here for as long as it takes to find out your dirty secrets. You try and escape, we'll hunt you down and find the rest of your kind to teach them not to stay in our land."

ㅤㅤㅤNo, Solaomoni didn't want that at all. She wanted to go home. Go home and never return to the walls of Camelot, just like ᛗᚨ told her to.

ㅤㅤㅤDecided, the king and his wizard turned their backs to her and walked away with no hurry.

ㅤㅤㅤ"No. No! Where are you going?! Come back here! I'm not staying in your dirty home, I'm not! You hear me?!" she kept screaming until the sound of footsteps could no longer be heard from her cell.

ㅤㅤㅤSol gulped, the burning sensation in her throat made itself present again, she hated that. Solaomoni sat back down and sighed, forcing her eyes closed to not let a single tear fall.

ㅤㅤㅤSolaomoni did not cry, because she was fearless, and fearless people don't cry. Just like Kinowl, Luczianao, Lupiniᛕᚨᛕ, and ᛗᚨ. They never cried, so why should she?

ㅤㅤㅤEven so, Sol didn't feel so fearless once the loneliness hit her in the dark and cold cell.
