Locked away,
sightless and afraid,
the walls watch with hungry eyes.
Here I'm forgotten
and here I stay,
trapped in towers high.
The waves that crash
and against rocks, thrash,
below my barren keep,
seem to beckon
as they lash
and dare me take a leap.
My highs and lows,
like the tides in tow,
beg me swift to flee.
So I'll take these feathers
and wings I'll sew
to fly beyond the sea.
