Demi's POV

"Are you sure we should be doing this?" Selena asked me hesitantly.

I rolled my eyes and threw her purse at her.

"Come on bitch," I teased playfully. "We're already here and looking hot. We might as well go and have fun," I said.

"But what if our parents find out? And we have church tomorrow! I'm nervous!" She said in a worried tone.

I sighed and opened my car door. It looked like Selena was going to need a push.

"Well, I'm going in with or without you," I said hopping out of the car and grabbing my purse. "Here's this in case you change your mind," I told her as I threw her the fake ID I had bought with her photo on it.

"Ugh, fine!" Selena said with a huff as she rolled her eyes at me and got out.

-

"Demi, I'm getting nervous," Selena said as we got closer to the entrance.

"Sel, it's going to be okay. This club lets everyone is. They won't even check the ID," I said trying to convince her.

"I still don't know," she said nervously.

I sighed and looked at the line as it started to move in front of us.

"Well, you better decide whether you want to go or not because we're next," I said.

She took a deep breath and quickly jumped out of line.

"I'm sorry D," she said giving me a sad look. "I'm just having too much anxiety," she explained.

I gave her a small smile.

"It's okay. I'll be really quick like an hour, okay?" I told her.

She nodded her head as I handed her my car keys.

"Wish me luck," I said.

"Of course," She said.

I watched as she walked back to the parking garage to find my car. I thought for a moment that maybe I should go with her but I knew that I didn't want to.

"Next!" The bouncer yelled.

I turned around and saw that it was my turn.

Here goes nothing, I thought.

"Can I see your ID miss?" The bouncer asked.

I nodded my head as I began to dig through my purse and found the ID.

"Here you go," I said showing it to him.

"Thank you. Enjoy yourself," He said placing a stamp on my hand and letting me pass through.

I couldn't believe it. It really worked.

-

After about an hour I regretted not just leaving with Selena. It was fun dancing and stuff but it got boring quickly without my best friend or anyone I knew. I watched and soaked in the environment as I sat at the bar alone. I was content just watching everyone else living and how free everyone looked.

"Hey sweetie, can I buy you a drink?" I heard a voice say.

I turned and saw a guy with blonde hair looking at me with a hungry look on his face.

"Thanks but no thanks. I'm actually about to go," I said.

"Come on sweetie," he said getting closer to me.

I quickly began to get nervous. I could smell the liquor on his breath and got an uneasy feeling as his heavy breath began to make me sweat.

"I-I'm good. I'm meeting a friend," I said trying to be as nice as I possibly could but I was visibly nervous.

"You're no fun," the guy said putting his arm around me. "Come on, let's get out of here," He suggested.

"I really-,"

"There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you babe," I heard another voice say as I was cut off.

"What?" I asked confused.

I looked up and saw a dark haired man walking closer to me.

"Hey man, is there a reason you're touching my girlfriend?" The dark haired guy asked the man who had his arm around me.

"My bad bro, I didn't know," The blonde haired guy said removing his arm from me.

"Are you sure? It sounded like she made it pretty clear she wasn't interested," The guy stated.

"I-,"

"Save it man. I'd suggest you just walk away and find something else to do that doesn't include preying on women," The dark haired guy said.

The blonde haired guy began to stumble away towards someone else. My heart finally slowed down and I was able to calm down a bit.

"Thank you so much!" I said to the stranger with a sigh of relief.

"Don't mention it. I hate to see women being harassed," He said to me giving me a smile.

"I appreciate it," I told him thankfully.

"Are you comfortable with me walking you out to your car?" He asked me.

I bit my lip as I thought about it. I'd never really had this long of a conversation with a man this attractive before. Some part of me was so nervous that I felt like I was going to freeze up in front of him. Though there was something about him that was so inviting and I couldn't help but trust him.

"Y-yeah, sure," I said struggling to get the words out.

-

"Which car is yours?" He asked me as we walked around the parking garage.

The parking garage was now empty and I didn't see the car where I had parked it. I began to dig through my purse to find my phone.

"It's a Lincoln Navigator but I don't see it anywhere," I said. "I'm trying to call my friend who had my keys," I explained.

"Yeah, I don't see it either," he said looking.

I finally found my phone and picked it up but was immediately disappointed when the screen failed to light up.

"Of course it's dead," I said with a nervous chuckle.

He picked his phone out of his pocket and his screen was just as dark as mine.

"I'm sorry. I'd offer to let you use mine but mine is also dead," He said.

I sighed.

"It's okay," I assured him. "Thank you for walking me out here," I said as I began to walk towards the bus stop.

"I mean if you want to I can give you a ride," he offered.

I stopped walking and turned around.

"Are you sure?" I asked him.

"Of course," he said with a nod.

"You're not going to murder me, are you?" I asked.

He chuckled and shook his head.

"I am not," He said. "Sorry to disappoint," He added.

-

"So do you have a name?" The stranger asked me once we were in his car.

"Demi," I replied.

"Wow, I love that name," he said with a smile. "I actually had an aunt who passed away in a car accident when she was 19. Save your tears though, her name was Devi," He said.

I couldn't help but giggle.

"I'm sorry to hear that. That's so sad," I said as I stopped laughing.

"It's okay. What's life if we can't find beauty in the sadness, right?" He asked.

I nodded.

"That's one way to look at things," I replied. "Do you have a name?" I asked him out of curiosity.

"Joe," He replied.

I nodded as it got quiet and we just let the music play for a minute.

"I hate to break the silence and be so cheesy but I just thought I should let you know that you're gorgeous. I hope that someone is buying you flowers or lunch or something," He said with a grin.

I could feel my cheeks burning from how red I was.

"Thank you," was all I could manage to get out.

I took a deep breath and began to get comfortable.

"So are you from Colleyville?" I asked him.

He nodded his head.

"Yep, born and raised. I just recently moved back though after living in downtown Dallas for the last four years," He said to me.

I raised an eyebrow.

"You chose to come back?" I asked him in a curious voice. "Are you mentally ill?" I joked.

He leaned his head back and chuckled.

"Believe me it wasn't my first choice," He said with a cool smile. "It's home though," He said.

"I understand," I said with a nod.

"So I hate to ask a woman this but how old are you?" He asked me.

I quickly gave him a nervous grin.

"Seventeen," I said biting my lip as I waited for his reaction.

"Wait, what?" He asked in a confused voice. "How did you get into the club?" He asked.

I opened my purse and held up my fake ID.

"Wow," He said with a laugh. "If only I had this when I was a teenager," He joked. "Unfortunately, I had to do things the old fashion way and wait until I was twenty-one," he said.

"Okay grandpa, and just how old are you?" I teased.

"Twenty-two," he said with a wink.

I chuckled as I looked out the window.

"Oh, actually turn right. This is my street," I said.

He nodded and did so.

Soon we were pulling up close to my house.

"Hey, if you want you can just let me out here. My parents are kind of strict and I don't want them asking too many questions," I said,

"Say no more," he said with a smile.

I smiled and opened the car door.

"Thank you again for helping me out and for the ride," I said with gratitude as I stepped out of the car.

"No problem," He replied.

I started to shut the door and bid the stranger goodbye when he stopped me.

"Wait!" He said.

I stopped in my tracks.

"When will I see you again?" He asked me.

I grinned and grabbed a pen out of my purse.

"Give me your hand," I said.

He held out his hand and I scribbled my number on his wrist.

"Call me," I said before walking away towards my house.

I could not wait to tell Selena.
