Bakugou felt cold inside, an empty pit deepened inside him. He didn't know if he was just imagining it, but the smell of smoke resinated in his lungs, almost as if his heart had burnt into ash.
He would do anything to go back in time, to undo his mistakes, to stay by your side. Life would be different now, stained by the possibility of what could of been. He needed you to keep him warm, but now, no matter how much he ran away, he would never escape the mistake he made. The mistake of losing you.
Turning to look back just once more, his eyebrows began to furrow. A small, golden glow emitted from the castle. But as he squinted his eyes to get a better look, the golden colour darkened into a reddish flame.
Feeling his heart rate begin to increase, he ran back to the castle. Climbing up to the window, he slammed him palm on it a few times. But you weren't there. Smashing the window open with his fist, he began frantically searching for you. But slowly his eyes trailed up to the door in front of him. It had been broken down, almost as if it had been attacked.
Choking on his breath as it hitched, he ran out the door, looking both ways before picking randomly. As he ran, he could feel heat began to prick at his skin. The air was thicker and darker. Unable to find anyone, not even the guards, his frustration grew.
But as he turned around the corner, he saw a blonde girl pinning you down with a knife millimetres away from your stomach. Your eyebrows were furrowed as you endured the pressure, using your energy to fight her off.
"Y/n!" he called out, running up the blonde and pulling her off you by her arm. Her golden eyes locked with his as she smiled sadistically, extending her arm upwards ready to slice the blade down through him. But before she could do anything, Bakugou's fist slammed against her right cheek, the pressure strong enough to make her fly backwards. She landed against the wall with her head low, fading out of consciousness.
"You came back." you panted, sitting up and wrapping your arms around him.
"Of course I did." he said squeezing you.
But the moment quickly ended, "My father. The league are trying to kill him." you told him.
"Where is he?"
"The throne room."
Helping you up off the ground, his fingers interlocked with yours and you began running together. Leading him through the long corridors, the ash in the air began to thicken. Sweat collected along your forehead from the heat.
As you made it to a large doorway, you looked over to Bakugou, covering your mouth with your arm to stop your lungs from filling with ash. He did the same, as he kicked on the door, swinging it open to show the throne room. It looked like hell, orange flames climbed up the curtains, casting shadows as black powder polluted the air.
In the centre was Shigiraki and Dabi, they're smiles were wide as they towered over the King, with Shigiraki's foot on his chest. Your heart clenched, watching your father's eyes widen.
But when the door slammed open, they all turned to face you. You let go of Bakugou's hand as you ran to your father. As you stood opposite the two dark figures, you tried to think of something. Anything.
"Dabi, get rid of her." Tomura smirked.
The dark haired man approached you making your heart race. He looked down at you as you took small steps backwards. Your eye's flickered from him down to your father.
"Dad, I'm sorry." you panted, watching as your fathers eyes changed shape, showing only love.
Bakugou ran up to you, standing in front of you, defending you. Something he wasn't able to do before, but this time, he wouldn't let you go again.
"Katsuki?" you said, making him look over his shoulder at you, your eyes blurred with tears as your lips pressed into each other.
"I'll protect you this time."
He lost his focus, and as his angry gaze softened, Dabi suddenly punched him, wiping any smile he had completely off. As he fell to the ground, Dabi grabbed your neck, heating his hand almost enough to burn you. You clasped onto his large hands, scratching at the skin, as he lifted you off the ground only to throw you back down.
With his hand, in one swift motion, he set fire to the metal chandelier. The flame climbed up to the rope that attached it to the roof and burnt it, making it fall directly on your legs. You cried out in pain as you were trapped under it. The roaring flames grew around you, separating you from the others. Hearing you cry triggered something inside of Bakugou, his eyes began to open and his blurry vision focused on you.
"Katsuki!" you said, seeing him run to you, but you were quickly separated by a wall of fire and broken furniture.
You began to loose your vision, it was fading from red to black as you watched Bakugou struggle against the two villains from the gaps in between the flames. His eyebrows furrowed as he wiped the blood away from his nose. You saw the images flash in your head, one after the other, watching him use all his strength to try and fight them off.
Shigiraki had had enough, stomping on your father's head, he did all he could to kill him. But when Bakugou noticed, he was immediately knocked to the ground. Bakugou straddled him as he slammed his fists into his face, blood pouring out with each punch. But Bakugou wouldn't stop, even though Shigiraki's skull was completely shattered, he wouldn't stop. It was as if he lost control. The man who laid dead in front of him had taken everything from him, he scarred his life, breaking everything he loved. He wanted revenge. No, more than revenge. He wanted Shigiraki to endure the same suffering he had to go through for years, with no mother, no family, no home. Nothing. Completely alone.
