More than friends

Alec’s POV

We got to the party and Chizzy was more excited than I was. We were greeted by the host herself.

‘Hey, Alec’ she said as she hugged me

‘Hey Zee’ I replied

‘What about me?’ Chizzy pouted

‘How you doing?’ she asked as they embraced

‘Better than ever’ he said

‘I’ll leave you two alone to catch up while I go  announce my arrival’ he said as he walked imto the crowd

‘So how have you been?’ she asked

‘Still same and you’

‘Normal I guess’ she said

‘But the party says otherwise’ I said

‘Crazy right’ she laughed

‘I’m finally 25’ she said proudly

‘I’ll be 28 next year dear’ I said as she hit me lightly

‘I don’t care’ she smiled

Ziola ‘Zee’ and I met a few months ago through Chizzy and we hit it off. We always hung out together, she was really sociable and that was one of the things that made me look forward to seeing her every time. Chizzy said she sees me as more than a friend but I never take him seriously because I don’t want anything to go wrong in this relationship.

‘Earth to Alec, what’s up?’ she asked

‘Oh nothing I just zoned out, anyways I wanted to give you this’

I brought out a black box and gave it to her.

She opened it and the look on her face showed she was in love with the gift.

‘I really love it, thank you’

‘You’re welcome, You deserve better’ I said

She hugged me and kissed me on the cheek before we joined the party.

The Party was amazing and Chizzy was a little tipsy so I had to drive again.

‘I haven’t seen you smile since you came back to this country, Alec is finally in love’

‘Whatever I’m just tired today has been stressful’ I said as I drove into the compound.

Avery’s POV

Today’s outing helped me take my mind off some things. I had just come back from my shift at the clinic and since there was no emergency so I left early.

*2 unread messages*

I.B: Can we talk?

Me: What is there to talk about?

I.B: Something that stops us from being friends

Me: Are we seriously having this conversation; I am really tired and I advise you never chat me up again

I.B: Then why haven’t you blocked me?

He was right why didn’t I block him

Me: Goodnight

I.B: Please wait..

I shut down my phone and went to watch some Netflix series to get my mind off some things.

Ziri’s POV

I woke up to a constant knock and Zara was too exhausted to get up from her bed to get the door. I opened the door to see the person I least expected it to be.

‘Avy?’

‘Good morning to you too’ she said as she walked into the house

‘Now I know how annoying it is to interrupt someone’s beauty sleep’

‘That’s nice’ she said as she made herself comfortable

‘What’s up?’ I asked as I took a sea

‘I realized I hadn’t gone to my best friend’s house in a while so I decided to surprise him; what’s the harm in that?’ she said feigning a smile

‘What’s going on?’ I asked again

‘Can’t you believe the stupid statement I wasted my time saying’ she pouted

‘That’s like an indirect way of saying you have something going on upstairs and you want to let it out’ I said

‘What’s up with you?’ she asked confused

‘I don’t know? I guess it’s one of the effects of interrupting my sleep!’ I said and she chuckled

‘But when you do it its okay? This life truly isn’t balanced’

I rolled my eyes

‘Forget about me, what’s up?’ I asked

‘Don’t get angry but its I.B’ she confessed

‘What did he do this time?’ I asked

‘I don’t know, he just came back; not just that, its been over 7 years and he still has this weird effect on me which is wrong, we can’t be normal friends due to some circumstances. I’m in a situation whereby getting close to him is dangerous at the same time avoiding him is killing me softly and its horrible’.

She continued going on and it was obvious they saw each other on numerous occasions I wasn’t aware of and it was unlike her to keep things away from me but I realised it was because of him and she was unaware of what really happened between both of us that lead to her name being cleared; she built up all her emotions because she didn’t want to lose me as a friend. I.B didn’t deserve her but I could see deeply how much she longed for him.

I apologize for the length of this Chapter. I promise to make it up to you all on the upcoming chapters. Its 10 days till new year and I want to finish the first part for this book.
