princess abigail and prince james, better known as "charming" examine the shrine for the guardian of the magical lake meant to restore anything to it's natural state.
the two stand in the cold night of the forest, crickets and creatures chirping around them. the shrine smiled back at them with two sharp teeth, water spouting out it's mouth, the droplets falling onto the candles and pomegranates littered around.
"every man who faces it leaves an offering here first." the princess informs james. "asking for the creature's mercy."
charming chuckles, his breath fanning out from the harsh temperature. he thought it to be ridiculous. "i'll go the rest of the way alone."
"no, this is for me." abigail objects. "you have to let me come with you."
"no. the only life i want in my hands is my own."
abigail nods hesitantly, "good luck, then, and don't forget..." she trails off, motioning to the shrine.
charming scoffs, "a lot of good it did them." he drops the helmet in his hands onto the shrine making the water splash.

the dark haired beauty gasps as the prince enters the area surrounded by the lake. she sunk low into the water, keeping her dark eyes covered in black eyeshadow above the surface, hiding in the shadows.
she watches as he looks around the magic lake, which was more like a pond, and shed his winter gear off. she wondered if he was like all the other ones who have come and died at the hands of her guardian.
maybe, just maybe she could be free.
he pulls out a water canister and leans down to gather the liquid from the lake. the woman could feel her mistress grow happy at the thought of another knight to feed on.
as he makes contact with the lake, the water ripples as it glows. the prince stands, cautious of the creature. "where are you? make yourself known to me!"
the woman moves slightly causing the water to ripple. james catches this and pulls out his sword. "beast! show yourself." she jumps slightly at his out burst.
the dark haired beauty felt odd. like something was different about this man. she didn't understand this feeling.
at that moment the water begins to bubble and glow a bright blue as the guardian of the lake rises from the water. her fair skin glowed and the silver crown upon her wet platinum hair sparkled. she wore a long sleeved dresses littered in jewels. she looked regal and breathtaking.
charming stood in shock at the creature in front of him.
"here i am." the woman's pink lips pull into a smirk and she starts toward him, her feet kissing the water beneath her. "what's your name? would you like to know mine? because i can be anyone you want me to be"
