I lay on my back with my head hanging off the end of the bed, hugging a pillow to my chest. Cheshire had left to go talk to Mad Hatter an hour ago and i was bored and tired of waiting.
After another hour had passed i was sure all the blood had rushed to my cheeks. I sat up and glanced in the mirror. Yup. My face was completely red and i was seeing stars.
I climbed out of the bed and walked into the living room. I headed to the kitchen to make myself something to eat. I checked the cupboards but, found absolutely.... nothing. They were completely bare. They were so empty i almost expected to see cobwebs in them.
I frowned. "Now what?" I said to the empty house. Getting no response, i walked back to the living room. I plopped down on the couch and sighed. I guess i could go out and find something to eat. It can't be that hard to find food.
Then again, if Cheshire gets back and I'm not here he might freak out. I don't want to worry him. He should trust me to take care of myself, though.
I stood up and went to get my jacket. As i was stepping out of the house i hesitate just slightly. Then i shook my head. "I can keep myself out of trouble."
I'm an idiot.
I raced back the way I had come, the loud footsteps following me. I turned to my left and came to a halt. There was a very high cliff right in front of me.
I cringed. "I guess i can go down that way." I turned to go back but, then the creature, i didn't even know what to call it, burst through the trees. It had huge teeth and was probably twice my hight. It kind of looked like a really really big wolf that could stand on its back legs.
I turned back around and grabbed on to one of the hanging vines. "Then again, maybe i can."
I held on while i slid down it trying not to hit myself on anything and failing badly. I reached the bottom of the cliff and landed with a thud on a rock.
I rubbed my butt and looked up. My eyes widened. "Oh, shit!" I jumped out of the way just in time for the wolf thing to slam down onto the rock i had just been sitting on.
I scrambled to my feet and ran away from it as it snarled at me, baring its long teeth and claws.
"Alice? I'm home." I opened the door expecting to see the really boy living with me but, soon frowned as i didn't see nor hear him. "Alice?"
I dropped the bag of new clothes for Alice on the couch and went to his room. It was empty. I checked all the rooms and got the same result. I started to panic.
I raced to the door. "Alice?! Hey, where are you?"
The woods were silent. I made my way as fast as i could to Rab's house, calling Alice's name the whole way. When i got there i practically threw the door into the wall as i opened it. "Rab!"
Rab was sitting on the couch having tea and looked up, startled at my outburst. "Chesh? What's wrong?"
"Alice is gone! I can't find him anywhere!" I was trying to hold it together.
"Calm down. Tell me what happened from start to finish." He stood up and pulled me to the couch.
I took a deep breath and tried to relax. "I went to see Hatter to talk about when we were going to take out the queen and when i got back the house was empty."
He set down a cup of tea for me but, i didn't want it. "Okay? Was the door shut?"
"Then that means he left on his own. He'll be back. He's a smart kid."
I shook my head. "But, he doesn't know what kind of dangers there are or how to fight. He could get killed! This is all my fault!"
Rab slapped my leg. "What was that for?!"
He frowned. "For not trusting him. He has to fight the queen. How do you think he's going to do that without some experience? The queen will be harder to take out than anything in the woods. He needs this."
"But, what if he gets hurt?! I don't-" I stopped and looked down.
"'You don't' what?"
I shook my head. "Nothing."
"Chesh." He used a warning tone but, i ignored him. He was quiet for a moment then his jaw dropped. "You like him." He stated.
I swallowed. "As a friend/housemate."
He shook his head. "No. You like him more than that. You love him, don't you?"
I glared at him. "No, i don't. I'm just worried about him."
"Wow, you suck at lying."
I kicked his ankle. "It's not a lie." I muttered.
"Chesh, just tell me. I know I'm right so stop denying it."
I didn't say anything and the room got quiet.
He smiled. "Well, I'm just glad you've finally moved on."
I smirked. "What? Did you think I'd never get over it?"
He shrugged. "You did take it pretty hard-"
I stood up. "I better get going. I'll wait till dark then I'm going to go out and look for him."
Rab nodded, ignoring that i had completely cut him off. "Okay. Good luck."
I waved as i shut the door. "Who needs luck when you're a cat with a nose that can smell a mile away?" I asked and he grinned. "It's always usefull."
