Diamond follows the voices around to where the boys were working.

"What is this?" She questioned Marlow, moving passed Slivko in the engine pit and furthering into the plane like structure.

"It's a ploat." Marlow said like it was obvious.

"A ploat? As in a plane boat?"

"That is correct, the only thing that will get you across the island in time... if we can get it working," Marlow informs her.

"Don't know why they want me over here; I know nothing about mechanics."

"Actually, Boy-o here was telling me that you're a mythologist, I assume that's why you're here, to find creatures like Kong?"

"That was the initial plan... we never meant harm... or at least I never did, I can't help what my boss wants to do... I just wanted to see the creatures for what they are." She folds her arms leaning against the railings with him.

"And what are they?" He turns his bowed head, eyeing her expression. "What is Kong?"

"Kong... Kong is a protector; he Is only protecting his ground just as we protect our country." She states softly.

"No one agrees with you, they all think because he's batted you out of the sky in a hostile attack that he is aggressive but he's not."

"I know that and I'm trying to convince people of that fact but so far it's not turning out to be easy..." She releases a heavy breath, Slivko asking her a favour before Marlow can say anything.

"Come down here, keep me company Di?"

Diamond pushes herself from the railing and sits on the edge of the engine pit, her smile dropping when she realised why he'd asked her to sit with him. James joined the group with Brookes without a word, returning to his workstation that happened to be next to where Diamond was previously standing.

"Thank you." Diamond whispers to Slivko and he nods.

They worked at the ploat for hours, each unsuccessful attempt to switch it on draining patience from everyone, three hours in, Slivko slammed his hand to the deck growling deeply before pressing the back of his hand to his forehead.

"I can't do this, go one without me..." He stumbled dramatically grasping onto Diamond for support.

"Tell my wife, I love her..." He collapses to the floor pulling Diamond with him, she bursts out with laughter, the wind knocked out of her in the best way possible as they land in a knotted heap.

"You don't even have a girlfriend!" She screeches.

"You'll do." He turns to her, pecking kisses all over her cheeks.

"Oh no, no. no." Mills pulls her from the pits holding her against his side. "She's mine." Mills pressed kisses against her temple.

"If you really considered her a friend you wouldn't be so inconsiderate, she's just lost her boyfriend, get back to work." James snaps, his temper bleeding into a full-time position. "Diamond, go find Mason."

"Sorry Di, we didn't mean-"Diana cut him off, pressing her finger to his lips.

"Don't, you did nothing wrong." She stopped herself from biting at Conrad, refusing to end up back a point where James was screaming at her. "In fact, why don't we play a little game...?" Slivko raised an eyebrow, she winks at him.

"Diana, go find Mason," James instructs again but Diamond doesn't move.

"I'm sorry Mills but I have to go with Slivko." Mills' jaw drops feigning offence. "He's just so kissable." Diamond pulled Slivko by his cheeks, smashing his lips against hers, Slivko hides his smirk by diving into the role and returning the kiss.

He stood between her legs, hands on either side of her thighs, trapping her against him. Mills' catcalls, Brookes withholding a grin as he knew exactly what game she was playing. Marlow watched as James' jaw pop as he clenched his teeth.

Everyone part of his brain told him to contain himself, to sit and watch because she wanted a reaction but all it took was one push for his heart to override.

"If they bother you so much, why not do something about it?" Marlow taunted.

James gained momentum, swiftly dividing Slivko and Diamond and wrenching her behind a hut, Diamonds vicious grin naturally dropping as he pins her against the rough wall.

"We really must stop meeting like this Cap- "He pushes his finger against her lips, watching intently as her lips pull with the dragging of his finger. He traps her hands above her head, moving so their bodies press together, his forehead resting heavily on hers, his forget-me-not blue eyes flashing between her eyes and the fullness of her lips.

His movements fickle as he switches between leaning in and out, James stares into her eyes once more, pleading her to make this easy on him, to make the decision for him.

"You don't want to do this with me..." she hesitates with more to say sitting in her throat, his actions keeping them there.

He pushes himself from the wall, striding away from her, stopping he glances over his shoulder at her before going back to the group. Diamond sunk to the ground, blinking vigorously, the absence of warmth from his body to his breath dancing along her cheeks, drove her ever-closer to the edge.

"I'm going to disappear after we get back, I can't go back to Monarch and if I do this... if you do this... we won't be able to let go and that's what I need to do... I need to let you go." Diamond whispered the rest of her sentence, leaving her thoughts blank as she watches the world go by.

Residence going about their days as normal, married couples working together on jobs and children whizzing past. No amount of time seems like enough to process it all.

"You've been sitting here for a while now, everything alright?" Mason sat in front of her, finger fiddling with a button on her camera.

"He was going to kiss me..." Diamond mumbles.

"I know, he told me." Mason smiles empathetically. "He also told me you stopped him..." Mason hesitates, waiting for her to fill her in.

"He told you?"

"I should really say with much hassling and struggle, he told me he was going to kiss you and when I went 'what?!" because who would have thought, he told me it didn't matter because he didn't... you said no and "respected" that," Mason explains.

"When you care for someone, you don't let them do things that you know will hurt them in the end." Diamond states plainly, going deeper than she thought she would.

"He doesn't respect that decision, he was fuming."

"So, he should be if his action was genuine, it will wound him, just less than if he did."

"I don't understand, how it would hurt him? Don't you see that you are his strength?" Mason's face scrunches.

"I can't go back to Monarch, we were so wrong about these creatures, they're no harm to us, not if Kong's around, humans knowing about them will only make it worse. I can't go back and give them everything they want to know about this place... and that would mean-"

"You'd have to disappear and none of us would see you again." Mason finishes her sentence.

"Yeah..."

"Right." Mason hangs her head.

"I think I'll stay here..."
