From second to the third

The cool breeze of the night nipped at her skin. She sat at her window and simply looked upon the stars that never seemed to answer her prayers. She wanted her father, her mother, to be home. Yet she was left at another home that reeked of the same misery she felt. A couple years wasn't enough to mask all of the suffocating pain that these walls held to both her and her best friend. She couldn't cry though, she hadn't the clue why she couldn't, yet it seemed to make the pain all the worse. She stood and walked to her door, she needed air. Going through the house quickly would be the best option to not alarm or wake the ravenette. Yet she felt her heart skyrocket when she heard a pained scream. The sound was exactly in the direction of the raven, so she quickly bolted to the boys room. "Sasuke?" she entered quickly, the raven had a pained expression as he rocked back and forth in his futon. Nightmares came and went but they were never to this magnitude. The boy broke out in a cold sweat which drenched his skin, clothes, and futon. Quickly she crouched next to the boy and grabbed his hand, she let her other hand caress his sweaty cheek. "Sasuke, its all a nightmare. Wake up." she continued to coax him as he slowly calmed and opened his eyes. "(Y/n)?" he questioned. "Hey, get up and take a bath. Ill wash your futon tomorrow." she slowly sat him up as he felt the sweat trickle down his back. "Alright, did I wake you?" he asked as he stood and went to his drawer to get a change of clothes. "No, I was already up." she answered as she picked up his futon and walked out the room towards the laundry room. She put the futon on a wash cycle before walking to the kitchen for something to drink.

She wondered what his dream was about this time. She drank her cool juice before setting the glass on the table and heading to a storage closet. (Y/n) pulled out a spare futon and took it out the back door to dust it off, lucky for her and sasuke, there was no school and meant that the two could sleep in. She brought the futon back to his room to find him putting his clothes in his laundry basket. "U-Uh (y/n)?" he started which made the girl stop in her tracks of setting up the futon. "Yes?" she questioned. The moon was the only source of light for tonight but it never showed the slight blush on his pale cheeks.

"Can I...sleep in your room tonight?" he asked hesitantly. Smiling, the (h/c) haired girl nodded and picked up the futon before leading him to her room. She slid open her room door, and placed the futon next to hers. "You know leaving the window open will make you sick right?" sasuke asked as he closed the window. "Well maybe, but the air felt refreshing at the moment." she fluffed his pillow, it wasn't his first time sleeping in her room, and she was more than happy to not be alone. Sasuke drew the curtains which bathed the room in darkness, he quickly wobbled towards his futon and dove under the blanket. She let out a small laugh and followed to her own futon. Sasuke dove his hand under her futon and fished for her hand. "Someone's being a baby today." she teased. "Im not, im just allowing myself to relax." he answered as he squeezed her hand tighter. She took a moment before she realized he was slightly trembling.

"Was it me again?" she asked as she looked to where his face should be. "Yes." was all he said. "Im not leaving you sasuke, ever. Its me and you against the world." she declared. "Then do me a favor." he addressed. "Yeah?" she asked. "WAKE UP!"

"(Y/n)! We made it! Wake up!" naruto yelled. "What?" she asked groggily. Sasuke was by her side with water. "You slept through the rest of the 3 days." he relayed. "But what happened to those ninja?" she questioned. "I handled them." Sasuke answered with a stern tone as he once again pushed the water towards her. (Y/n) took the water container and drank from it. Her dry throat felt immensely better. Looking around she noticed they were right outside of the tower, she stood quickly. "Did we get a heaven and earth scroll?" she questioned. "Yup! Right here." naruto chirped as he held them up. "We wanted you to be conscious as we went in." sakura spoke as she smiled at sugimoto. "Then lets go." (y/n) suggested. The rest of the team nodded as they opened the big heavy door to be greeted with an empty room.
