" I don't get it, I was internally bleeding? " I asked.

" Yeah, they haven't told us anything yet, they're also confused how you were bleeding in the first place " Gene said, I place my hand over my stomach and turn my head to the side with a little discomfort.

" My dad? " I asked.

" Outside with the others " he said and sit down on the edge of the bed.

" So much for not getting you hurt huh? " I asked as I see the cut on his lip along with the bruise on his cheek.

" I've face worse than a punch and a kick " he smiles, I chuckle.

" I'm sorry, I didn't know what got over me, I just froze " my voice cracked and tears stream down on the side of my face.

" Hey " he place his hand on my cheek then wipe the tear away.

" I'm sorry "

" It's normal " he said and I look at him, calming down.

" You were just in shock when you saw him, everything was happening too fast which overwhelmed you and you froze " he said.

" Probably " I said in a childish voice.

" Yeah " he smiles and the curtains open, I turn my head as Gene stood up.

" Y/n M/n L/n? " Ask the man, I nodded as I see him holding a tablet in his hand.

" How are you feeling? " He asked.

" Drowsy " I said.

" It's probably the anesthetic we gave which will wear off soon, anyways, we run some test about you and it looks like you had a miscarriage " he said.

" What? " Gene asked.

" We took your blood and it seems like you have a high levels of alcohol which explains why you had a miscarriage, we'll give you some pain medication and should be out of here a day or two " he said.

" We did everything we could to save it but it was unfortunate and I'm sorry for your loss "

" I was pregnant? " I asked, he looks at me in confusion.

" You didn't know? " He asked, I exhale in disbelief and he pressed his lips into a line.

" I'll give you both some time " he said then close the curtain as he leave.

Gene turns to me.

" I didn't know " I said.

" Neither did I " he said.

" It's okay, I'm not mad, we didn't know " he sit back down next to me.

" I wasn't late, was I? "

" You never thought of it? " He asked, I shake my head.

" I guess I was too distracted and stressed to think about it, I haven't checked my tracker as well " I said, I groan and hit my forehead of my stupidity.

He sighs.

" It's not okay but we'll get through this " he said.

" What am I going to tell mom? " I asked.

" Telling your dad is what I'm more afraid of " he said, I chuckle.

" He's not that scary " I said.
