"Come on! Are you really gonna fall behind us!? Push yourself harder than before!!" Mata-chan drilled her words into me after seeing me fail the tree-climbing technique for the 50th time that day. "I got this technique down by midday, months before the academy!"

I huff under my breath to push the chakra down my lower body, balance is important. Without it, you'll waste your chakra as a ninja. As a ninja, every bit of chakra counts, wasting it can result in death. It can make those around you also lose their lives. Kimi-chan, as she insisted to be called, practiced her chakra control on a rushing river nearby with her eyes closed.

"YATTA! There you go!" The pinkette gushed with delight, watching as I stood in the bark of the tree and panted heavily, balancing myself toward the tree with my hands and knees about my chest. I had long since disregarded my shirt halfway through the training, Mata-chan said something along the lines of 'Scandalous! I like it~' which prompted an eye roll from me and Kimi-chan. "Now you have to do Water-balance for your chakra control! And you can't go home without completing it!"

I was exasperated and lost my balance, and my body fell to the ground as Matata-chan gazed down at my pitiful form from up above, smiling cheekily with her mischief swirling in her eyes. "You said after I complete this training we would go for dango! Not more hellish training!"

"Oh...wait...I did say we would get dango after this tree walking balance thingy...Too bad." She laughed maniacally, throwing her head back. "Get yourself over there on that water where Kimi-chan is!"

It took over five months of effort, but Bukimi and Matata are now kind of friends even though at first they could hardly stand each other let alone be in the same space with each other. Even more so when Matata-chan told her that Bukimi's efforts to be my friend had all been unnecessary. Since Mata-chan and I see each other every day in class, at lunch, and after school. It is only during testing, academy training sessions, and kunoichi classes that Bukimi really gets to see me.

This comment was used to make the girl feel unimportant, by making her feel left out. She did end up feeling left out when she couldn't have the only person, she wanted for a friend. Though I felt bad for her, I figured likely she felt the same as I did, lonely and desperate for friends and affection. She may have her clanmates, but they stayed distant out of respect for her status.

So I offered to hang out with her around town, much to Matata-chan's displeasure, and to Kimi-chan's surprise. She returned a small smile in response, which was interpreted as a smirk, in the huffing Pinkett's direction. In a glittering stare, she consents to it and invites me to stay at her house after school. Which leads to protests about Matata-chan's plans to hang out with me at the hot springs.

I ended up at the hot springs with both of them... and dragged into the female section. I didn't see the strange smiles in their eyes when I told them my true gender. It didn't stop them from bathing with me, they seemed thrilled for some reason with the idea. I later considered them to be perverts...around me.

I imitated the tree-walking technique on the water and immediately soaked myself, by falling in. Swimming back to the surface, rather sluggish, and met the ominous eyes of Kimi-chan's now wet form, I smiled sheepishly, "Sorry maybe I should go somewhere else then."

I swam away just missing the flushed cheek of the pale girl, with her eyes glowing softer than before. Using chakra at the base of my hands and feet to push me back onto the surface of the river, placing my hands in a sign for balance. The second time I tried, I stood on the river, but standing is different from walking across it.

Taking a leap of faith, I took small steps 'Become one with the water, memorize the flow, and current of the water' then I ran across the length of the river. I didn't fall in once, shocking both the observers into an awed state.
