Disclaimer: I do not own Netflix, Julie and the Phantoms, or any of the music!
Julie had looked everywhere. All the places that she could think of that her late mother might be turned up empty. Her grandparents house, the record store that was now a fro-yo place- whatever that is-, their neighbors (most of which were gone), even the Orpheum where she used to work! Julie tried to exit the Orpheum, reaching for the handle of the front door but instead of feeling the cool metal, her hand passed straight through it. She tried it again and again, both times failing just the same. Julie let out a frustrated sigh and walked through the glass, the weird ice cold tingling sensation taking over.
Taking a minute to shake out the bad feeling, she didn't notice the skater boy who was passing through people, whooping in delight. He slid smack dab into her, knocking them both over. Julie groaned, hitting her head for the second time in one night. "I've been having a really strange day and getting ran over does not help." Julie snapped, still on the ground. "I am so sorry! Are you okay?" The skater boy said, extending a hand to help her up. It finally registered that someone actually ran her over and did not pass through her. "Wait you can see me? Are you dead too?" Julie asked, taking his hand and pushing herself up.
She got a better look at him and he had baggy jeans, long hair, and mismatched socks. "Ever since I got in a pretty bad skating accident, yeah. I'm Willie by the way." He said, chuckling. "I'm Julie." She was discerned by how okay he seemed with being a ghost. He must've read her face because he started rambling. "I mean we can do so many cool things! Plus I get to do my favorite thing. Skate everywhere and anywhere I want. I've even skated in Justin Biebers empty pool!" Julie was getting more confused by the minute. "Who's Justin Bieber?" She asked and Willie laughed. "Wow. How long have you been dead?" Willie asked. "Apparently 25 years. I mean I was in this dark room for like an hour and then bam I drop from the sky into my old studio and it's 2020." Willie seemed nice enough and it's not like she can die again so she decided to trust him.
He frowned in thought when she mentioned the dark room. "Woah. I've never heard of that happening before." "Yeah and what's even weirder is that there are three guys living in my old house that can see me." Julie said, throwing her hands up in exasperation about her situation.
"Wait... you mean lifers can see you?" Willie asked with wide eyes. She raised an eyebrow, not knowing what 'lifers' were. He caught on quickly, explaining. "Lifers are what ghosts call the living." Julie nodded. "Then yes, three lifers can see me but no one else can. Besides you obviously."
Willie pointed to the bench and they both moved to sit down. "That is seriously crazy." He said, sitting down on the empty bench. Julie tried to sit down next to him but fell through it. "I'm guessing you haven't gotten the hang of being a ghost yet." Willie laughed at her. "It's not funny but yeah. I mean I haven't even gotten used to being able to walk through things. It's seriously unsettling, man." Julie said, making Willie laugh harder. She sent him a glare and he stopped.
"Okay so to be able to feel things you just need to focus all your energy. Make sense?" "Not really but let's try it anyway." Julie said, getting up and trying to focus on being able to feel the metal. She lowered herself down and when she didn't fall like she thought she would she smiled and internally cheered. "That was easier than I expected." She said and Willie nodded, grinning. "I should probably get going but I'll catch you 'round, Julie." He got off the bench, putting his skateboard on the ground and pushing off.
Julie sighed as he left, having so many unanswered questions. She looked at the clock and it was almost 1:00 AM. "I guess ghosts don't need to sleep either." She mumbled to herself as she set off back to her house.
You guys are probably thinking 'Man, this took forever to come out just for it to be this short!' and you are completely right. I'm so sorry for the long wait and this chapter is way shorter than I wanted it to be. I hope you guys understand that I don't have a lot of opportunities to write in my hectic life and when I do I want to publish it so you guys have something to read. This chapter also may not be proof read either 👉🥺👈 hehehe. Thank you guys for the support and I have a feeling all of my fellow Juke shippers will enjoy my next chapter! (it might be a long time before it's published though)
