"You not ready yet?!" Rashaad asked, entering Emari's parents home. He was picking her up from there today—Saturday, so they could finally go ring shopping for Sahara. Their anniversary was coming fast and he had no idea what he was looking for.

"Yes! You don't see me making my plate?! And yours, greedy? Buddha get your friend, rushing me," Mari retorted.

In almost every way except literal relation, Rashaad was a part of their family. He had been around since Zion was about 7, and they'd been inseparable since the day they met. He had a very small family, it was only him and his mother, so the fact that the Fletcher's took him in so willingly and did so much for him as a kid, it warmed his heart and he was thankful for them.

"My other baby! I can't believe you're about to get engaged Juju," Emari's mom calling him by his middle name—Judah. "You was just this big," she pouted, showing visibility how short he used to be before he hit puberty and grew like a tree.

"I know ma, it's crazy. And to that crazy girl," he chuckled.

"Aht! Don't do my sis," Mari chuckled, walking up to him with their plates. "Here fatty, I gave you extra greens,"

"Ooh thank you," he cheesed, doing a little dance, making Mari and her mother shake their heads. "Alright, come on Moo, I wanna have time to browse,"

"We don't need to browse, Ju. I been telling you for weeks I know exactly what she wants down to the carats," she chuckled as they walked to his car.

"Can I afford what she wants?" he asked seriously, and Mari laughed. "You think I'm playing," he chuckled.

"I'm sure you can—you know Sahara isn't hard to please! If she just got to marry you she'd be happy. Don't think too hard,"

"Yeah you say that till she bleed my shit dry," he joked and she laughed some more.

Once they got to the jeweler, they did spend some time looking at diamonds and other pretty rings and random jewelry in the store before Emari spoke

Once they got to the jeweler, they did spend some time looking at diamonds and other pretty rings and random jewelry in the store before Emari spoke.

"Alright, let's get down to business," she clapped her her hands. "Grab somebody, let's get this moving," she said and he chuckled at her serious expression.
