Cindy Powell uses detective work that she learned from her father as a young girl in her job as a real estate mogul Benson Easton's assistant. Benson needs to know every detail about an associate before doing business with them. It's Cindy who digs...
Cindy Powell's father was a detective for thirty years in the San Diego Police Department. He taught her everything he knew with the hope that she would follow in his footsteps. He always told her that she would make an excellent detective. It just so happens that the skills imprinted on her by her father help her with working for Benson Easton, a self-made real estate mogul.
While Cindy's degree is in business management, she does a lot of detective-type work for Benson. He needs to know everything about who he decides to be his business partner. He does not work with anyone with a glimpse of shadiness in their character. When she interviewed for her position as Benson's assistant and business manager, she mentioned that her father was a detective. Benson hired her on the spot fresh out of college.
It's funny how she enjoys that part of her job the most. I guess her dad was right. She was born to be a detective.

I wake up disorientated, with my head pounding. I touch the sensitive spot on my temple. My hands are extended and handcuffed to a water pipe. I take a moment to glance around the room that is my prison. Slowly, everything comes back to me. I was right. I cannot believe that I fell for this trap. Thank God that I gave every detail of this fake meeting in the message that I left for Sam. He will find me. I relax with the knowledge that Sam is coming. I sigh in relief till I hear the door above me squeak open. I close my eyes while I listen to the heavy footsteps descending the stairs. "Please hurry, Sam," I whisper to myself in despair.
