Quote for the chapter:
"Don't be adamant; don't make up your mind about all the things that don't even have anything at all to do with you. Don't be too quick to define right and wrong. Life has a way of putting the adamant person into the very situations they've made up their minds about, in order to change those very decisions. So, unless you want the things that you judge in others to happen to you, you'd better live and let live."

" I remembered the proposal Natalie sent to us. I do wonder why you would want a budget increase. If you would, maybe you could provide me with the real reason. After being well- friends with Natalie. I know that must have not been the real reason for it. Besides, you guys are quite an honest bunch of people." Chloe said, shifting her position to face Christine once again.
Christine inhaled. She didn't know if she should tell Chloe the reason for their decision to do so, but it might be worth it. For all she knows, Chloe is friendlier than before and compassionate enough.
" It might not be stated there, but every year, the cheerleading team and the volunteer team partner up and share their funds to buy gifts to less fortunate kids at the orphanage in the neighboring town. Since most of our parents follow the rules of the school to only provide a specific amount for our allowance, our money won't be enough to buy gifts for the kids. Recently there were new orphans, not to mention the inflation. When our budget was rejected, Natalie came up with an idea to buy cheaper gifts before Christmas since some businesses tend to raise their prices. We're still short on some gifts luckily some were covered by the budget increase of the Volunteer Club, but it's still lacking since we mostly throw a party around the next week. At least a few days before Christmas, so that they could experience a wonderful Christmas." Christine admitted.
It has been the cheerleading team and the volunteer club's tradition for ten years now. Chloe was perplexed by what Christine had just revealed. If she had known, she wouldn't have rejected, would she? No, Chloe a few months earlier might still have rejected it simply because she didn't fancy the cheerleading team. She felt disgusted at herself. Chloe creased her forehead. There's only one way, a solution for it.
"The cheerleading team and the volunteer club could collaborate with the student council. That way, we could spare some of our budgets to help your event. I have a better idea. Why not write a proposal paper for it? Then it'll be an official event with the three of us. Plus, it'd be easier next year?" Chloe said.
Christine felt a wide smile crept on her face. That was a good idea. She was glad that she told Chloe. The past president may not have approved of it especially when it didn't have a signed proposal.
"Wait, wouldn't it be too late? It's happening next week and we don't have a proposal letter yet. Besides, it still needed to be approved" Christine asked, in panic.
"The event is already organized properly right? The gifts are also ready, well, some of them." Chloe asked.
Christine nodded. Everything is already set, except for the gifts because of the sort of budget.
Chloe grinned, "Who's going to approve it? It's me right?" Chloe winked at Christine, indicating that she'll have it approved right away.
Christine was extremely excited and ecstatic that she hugged Chloe immediately and tightly. They heard someone clear his or her throat, which made Christine pull away. Chloe looked up and saw Natalie with a smile.
"If you guys are going to flirt, better do it outside," Natalie said, pointing her thumb outside.
Christine stuck her tongue out at Natalie with both her eyes closed and greeted happy birthday to Natalie. She walked towards her other teammates right after. Natalie was laughing at her friend's childish behavior.
" What's up? Why are you here?" Natalie asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Chloe smirked.
Natalie rolled her eyes.
"We don't have practice starting next week. I messaged everybody including you, it looks like you didn't see it yet. It's a good thing I decided to check you guys out, and truthfully, everyone is here." Natalie sighed.
Chloe was laughing which attracted the other teammates' attention. Luckily, Christine distracted them and led them outside the gym. Christine gave her a wink and Chloe mouthed a thank you to Christine.
Natalie raised an eyebrow.
"Since when were you two close?" Natalie asked.
"We discussed the Christmas event you guys are organizing for the orphanage. I can't believe you didn't tell me." Chloe said as she stood up.
" I just-"
"You don't trust me, don't you?" Chloe said, her voice filled with anger.
Chloe felt disappointed that Natalie didn't trust her. Hadn't she changed or maybe Natalie wasn't paying attention to her. Chloe sighed. She couldn't blame Natalie. She wasn't such a great person before. She was cold and cruel. She didn't have compassion for others. Of course, Natalie would be afraid to tell her. For all she knows, Chloe might demolish the idea of continuing the event, especially since there was no proposal sent to them.
"I'm sorry I'm such a shit head before. I don't blame you. I was cruel, not to mention an egoistic one. Vanessa and Alice told me before, but I guess they gave up because I wouldn't listen to them." Chloe said, clenching her hands.
Natalie stayed silent. She didn't know what to say. Part of it was true. It's not that she didn't trust Chloe, she was afraid because she knows they didn't follow the school rules. Every activity should have a proposal paper sent and be approved by the student council, but the idea of using a huge sum of their budget solely for that might outrage the principal. Besides, both of the organizations have kept it secret for ten years now.
"Look, I already spoke with Christine. If you would allow one of your team and one from the Volunteer team to write a proposal paper with Alice. I'll have it signed right away. It could become a collaboration with the student council. We'll give some of our budgets for the event. I'll have to talk to Corner about it later on. I'll personally revise the proposal written later on and speak with the principal about making it a tradition. That way, there would be enough budget every year." Chloe said. She was now creasing her forehead. She did get hurt by what Natalie had said.
"I'm sorry. I was afraid that you might not understand and well, you'll stop our event when you find out about it. You weren't compassionate before. I just forgot to mention it to you today." Natalie clarified.
She was now playing with her outerwear.
