"Some days you tame the tiger. And some days the tiger has you for lunch."

Chloe was walking towards the cafeteria, trying to avoid her friends. After that encounter with Natalie, she wasn't her usual self. She didn't have enough energy to be cold or whatever it may be. She just couldn't find herself to care anymore at all. She just wanted to mend her aching heart. Vanessa and Alice have been pestering her about the details about what happened. It seems like Vanessa knew that she stayed over at Natalie's house that Saturday and even informed Alice of it. She really should tell her mother to stop exchanging gossip with Vanessa about her life. Her lunch today consisted of sandwiches and milk. She spotted an isolated seat far away from the popular crowd—Natalie's group. She sat there peacefully as she took a bite of her sandwich. Ever since that night, she's been trapped inside her thoughts more often than before. She doesn't even need to avoid Natalie since Natalie hasn't tried to message or approach her in any way. She should be glad but somehow she felt used and betrayed. Natalie did say that they'll remain as friends. Chloe told herself not to overthink. If she wants assurance, she could just approach Natalie herself; however, she couldn't bring herself to do that. Her pride is on the line; moreover, her body would just tensed up whenever she would try to approach Natalie.
Chloe sipped her milk, trying not to let out a sigh. A pair of hands suddenly cupped her cheeks. Chloe was surprised as to who had the guts to disturb her, knowing her ice queen reputation. Chloe turned her head with a glare to be met with two familiar faces of her friends, carrying their lunch tray with them.
"Trying to avoid us, Chloe?" Vanessa said as Alice and her sat near Chloe. They laid their tray on the circular table.
Chloe sighed. She already knew that this might happen. It's better than to meet Natalie. Things would definitely go awkward. Avoiding people has been her thing whenever she felt awkward towards them, and if things went towards the wrong turn, she would just glare at them. It has always worked except for her friends. They knew her too well, and will never hesitate to confront her unlike the others.
"And because of that, we invited Natalie!" Vanessa said. Chloe was surprised by what Vanessa had said.
When she turned around, Natalie was already there standing in front of her. Chloe's lips twitched, but managed to have a small smile, approving of Natalie having lunch with them. Alice moved, giving Natalie her seat beside Chloe. Chloe was puzzled at what was happening. She was sure that her friends might be plotting something on their own, and she needs to confront them later after class. Of course it was only a bait since Alice and Vanessa would surely flood her with questions.
"I hope I'm not bothering you," Natalie said.
Chloe didn't really know what to say. She left quickly yesterday without waking Natalie up. She felt guilty towards Jevon if she did wake up next to Natalie. Natalie had her legs sprawled over her while cuddling her. She did leave a note beside Natalie giving an explanation that her mother would be anxious if she weren't home early—of course none of that was true. She didn't even receive a reply from Natalie after that which made her uneasy about her relationship with Natalie, not to mention her recent discovery that she was indeed falling for Natalie. She occupied herself all day by playing with Brian.
"I don't mind it," Chloe said with a cold voice.
Upon hearing that Natalie's face fell. She wondered why Chloe was back to her cold self. Chloe was warming up to her that Saturday night. They were actually getting along. She regretted planting her lips on Chloe. She knows that her actions weren't reasonable at all. She was just jealous towards Blake Lively—the one who played Emily. Natalie knows that Chloe might not even know the name of the actress, but her heart ached when she saw Chloe's expression towards the actress. What saddened her the most is when she woke up with no one beside her and only a note filled with explanations as if she had a one night stand with Chloe. She was contemplating with herself whether to message or call Chloe, but decided not to since she was afraid that Chloe might be avoiding her. This is the first time someone stood her up like that, and a friend at that. Natalie doesn't like the sound friend, but it will have to do for now. She knows that Chloe likes her. Chloe said it herself when Chloe thought that she was asleep. She didn't know for sure if she liked Chloe that way, but she definitely knew that she likes being with Chloe. She planned to have a talk with Jevon yesterday but he was away. She'll definitely need advice from Jevon as her best friend. Her parents would definitely get angry with her, especially when she wants to break things off.
"So darling. We didn't finish the movie." Natalie said.
Chloe's eyes widened but regained her composure. Vanessa smirked as well as Alice. Natalie smiled to hide her regrets about asking Chloe about the movie. Because of what her mouth has said, Vanessa and Alice surely found something fishy going on between them. She was actually quite surprised that Vanessa invited her over to have lunch with them. She wondered why Vanessa invited her over when everyone knows that Chloe and her are alway at each other's necks. Maybe Chloe told her that they're friends after all. Although upon seeing Chloe's reaction, Natalie was sure that Chloe was just as surprised as her. As always, when she told Jevon that she'll be going with Vanessa, he just smiled and rooted her on as if Jevon knew what was going on.
"What movie is that?" Vanessa asked.
"A Simple Favor." Chloe answered.
Alice and Vanessa looked at each other and exchanged smiles which made the other two confused.
" It's quite gay, if I must say. Alice winked.
Chloe blushed, remembering her night with Natalie. Chloe didn't know what to say. They weren't able to fully enjoy the movie because of their make-out season. Chloe glanced at Natalie with a surprised expression. Chloe wasn't sure what Natalie was thinking at all. She then recalled that it was Jevon's recommendation. She pondered whether Jevon did it on purpose, and if so Jevon might have known about Chloe's recent attraction towards Natalie. It would definitely turn out bad.
"It was Jevon's recommendation. Please don't spoil. I plan to watch it again." Natalie said and gave a glance at Chloe.
"With you perhaps one day." Natalie smiled.
Just simple gestures of Natalie are making her go mad. Those full lips of Natalie's and her striking smile is making her stomach twist and turn in every way. It seems like being close to Natalie would make her go insane at some point. The fact that Natalie's within her proximity to accidentally engage a touch, yet was unable to make it look like it's best if they weren't friends to begin with. At least with that, she could continue to try and avoid Natalie for as long as she can. Chloe's thoughts were a mess, but it was worth getting to know Natalie.
