I miss you. I know that you will never see this, or read this but I miss you.

I started writing. I was sitting in the park, freezing cold on the bench after running out of Dakota's.

I wish you would still be mad at me, I wish that you would burst back into my life. But you won't. I know now from Al that I need to be brave for your sake, but its hard.

I stopped writing and looked up just in time to see a basketball hit me in the face.

"I'm so sorry!" a boy my age said.

I looked at the boy angrily and said, "I believe your supposed to say 'heads up'."

The boy laughed and said, "I believe that I should have. Are you okay?"

"I don't know that hurt like heck," I replied.

The boy sat next to me and smiled. "Well I'm sorry. I'm Hayden by the way," he said.

"Jocelyn," I replied bitterly.

"Well Jocelyn, what are you doing sitting on a bench in the freezing cold on Christmas Eve?" Hayden asks.

"Its Christmas Eve?" I mutter, not believing my ears. Why wasn't the house decorated? Why was there no Christmas lights and cheesy music playing?

"Um yeah...You didn't know that?" He asks in disbelief.

"Well I haven't really left the house much," I snap.

"And why might that be?" Hayden asks with his brows furrowed.

"Its none of your business!" I mutter.

"Jo!! There you are we've been looking all over for you!" Jake says running over and hugging me. "Why'd you run out?"

"You know why," I whisper hugging him back.

"Um sorry to break this up but who are you?" Hayden speaks up.

"I'm Jake, Jo's friend," Jake explains, "A better question would be who the hell are you?"

"Jeez, no need to go all jealous boyfriend on me! I just accidently hit Jocelyn, and I was making sure she was okay," Hayden said defensively.

"He's not my boyfriend!" I said surprised, before I felt tears trying to come. Willow had always teased Jake for being such good friends with Jake. Sure, she wasn't the only one, but it had always been Willow's way of getting me mad.

"Welp, Jocelyn, I hope we can meet again but next time under better circumstances," Hayden said backing away.

"What about your ball?" I said, throwing it back to him.

"Keep it," He threw it back before running away.

Jake turns back to me, with soft eyes, "I know your trying to run away from your problems but you can't. She's dead. There is nothing you can do to change that!" he said.

"She was my best friend!!" I whispered defensively. "She still is."

"Jocelyn, I know that your sad, you wouldn't be human if you weren't, but you can't keep looking back, and getting lost in the past. If you do, you may never find your way back," Jake muttered.

"Welp, I never will so you may as well stop trying to find me," I said as I ran away from Jake. I ran away from that bench. I ran away from Venzer Creek. I ran away from the world, my problems, and my sorrow. If only they could stay away forever.
