Chapter Twenty One

I woke up the next morning and Stacy  was still sleep. I got up and went in the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. Before leaving the bathroom, I stopped in the mirror and pulled my shirt close to my chest, trying to imagine how I would look when my stomach started to pulge out.

I patted my stomach.

"Don't worry little one.. Mommy's going to find your papa."

I walked out of the bathroom and headed to the kitchen thinking I was going to get breakfast started but the house phone began to ring.

"Good morning darling."

"Morning Mama."

"I was calling to tell you I was stopping by, I havent seen your face in a while."

"Okay. I just got to straighten up. What time you coming?"

"Im in the neighboorhood now."

"Okay, I'll be looking out for you."

"Okay baby."

We hung up.

I scratched my head as I looked around the house. I started straighting the pillows on the sofa and cleaning up the little mess I had in the living room. I heard a knock at the door and I already knew it was her.

I opened the door for her to enter.

"You were closer to my house then I thought you were."

She looked around the room.

"Yeah, Nah Lauren I know you aint called this clean."

"Ma, I was cleaning before you got here but I didnt know you were so close by."

"Im sorry baby." She said as she went and sat on the couch.

I sat across from her.

"Oh, its so good to see you baby and you look good."

She looked me over.

"You been to hospital?"

My face squenched up like how in the word do you know that. I looked down and realized that I still had on the wristband.

"Oh, It was nothing major."

"Oh okay.. You know its something about you baby, you are glowing hunny."

"Its probably from the healthy eating I've been doing lately. I've been drinking a lot of water."

My mom went on and on, telling me about something that my dad did. As she was talking I couldnt help but feel really bad about holding the news back from my mama. I mean it is her first grandchild. I was really debating about if I should tell her or not.

As my mom was talking Stacy walked in.

"Hey mama Teresa."

"Hey baby, how are you?"

"Im doing fine just a little hungry."

"I was just about to ask Lauren to have a little brunch with me, you should come."

"We gotta get dressed ma, we just got out of bed ."

"Okay and, I'll wait."

Stacy and I went to take a shower and get dressed. I decided to wear a strapless royal blue jumpsuit with a white vest and some single sole heels. I braided my hair into some milkmaid braids. Stacy wore a pink highwaist skirt with a white bralet and some nude heels. Her hair was in a messy bun with a braid around it.

"You ladies look good, yall got an ole lady thinking about changing."

"You look fine ma."

My mother was wearing a brown pencil skirt with a green and brown loose blouse and a pair of green pumps laced her feet. Her hair was in these thick bouncy curls that flowed when she walk.

"So where are we going?"

"I dont know, maybe we can try Brulé (Bru-Lay) they have this nice outdoor area.

"Alright lets go." I said as I grabed my phone and led the way out."

We drove up to Brulé and stopped at the front where the valet was standing to park the car. We walked in and chose our table out on the balcony that overlooked the city. We waited for the waitress to come and take our drink orders.

"So what have you young gals been doing lately, it seems like forever since we actually sat down and had a girls day out."

"It really has, I use to love our time together, just talking and gossiping."

"Where is your mother Stacy, I havent seen her in awhile."

"She somewhere mama Teresa,She got this new man and she claim they're traveling the world."

"The last time I spoke to Jennifer was about last month."

"Yea, she stopped by one day to see my brother but then she left."

"I need to talk to her, anyway how is your brother?"

"He's doing good."

"Thats good, I know he's happy to be free."

"He is, he never stays home."

"Really, I dont blame him. I would be moving around instead of staying in one place for a long time too. He's been locked down too long to be doing that."

"He's getting back on his feet though. He's looking for his own place and lets hope he's looking for a job too."

We laughed.

"Give him time baby, he's trying. He probably just got side tracked from seeing all these hot gals out here."

Stacy and I looked at each other.

"That is a handsome man, I dont know what Jenn is going to do when all these women wanna be her daughter-in-law and  your sister-in-law."

"I hope not." Stacy said.

"Thats okay though. He's going to be checking all your men too Stacy." I said.

And that was nothing but the truth. Evan couldnt stand O.G., he just delt with him for Stacy's sake. Being her older brother, it was in his nature to protect his sister from these no good me. He tried his best to keep Stacy from him but sometime you have to let people bump their heads on their on in order for them to learn better.

"So how have you and Marcus been doing?"

"Its getting better."

"Thats good, you two have been together to long to just let it go."

"Yea six LONG years.." I said as I dragged it out.

"Why you said it like that?"

"No reason."

"Hunny when you in a relationship with someone there is going to be times when you're up and times when you're down. You are going to go through things that make you want to give up but whether you stick it out or not is up to you."

"I told you Marcus was cheating mama, how can you just except something like that and act like it didnt happen."

"I didnt say act like it didnt happen, but if you forgive him Lauren then dont bring it up. I dont know how many times you and Marcus have been dealing with this but if you feel like you just cant do it anymore then leave but Im pretty sure you have more good than bad and you can at least keep working at it."

I stared down at the table as the tears started to form in my eyes.

"It just hurts to know that I wasnt enough. I didnt know what I would have done if this woman was pregnant by the man that I have built so much with. I was beating him up and angry with him..."

"You had a right to be upset Lauren.."

"No mama!" I said as the tears were full blown.

"Instead of going home and working it out with him, instead of working it out with the man Ive been with for SIX years, I CHEATED and now I dont even know if this baby growing inside of me is his!"
