"So," I start, "my brother" I tell Savannah. Her cheeks go pink.
"Yes?" She says. Well, it sounds more like a question. I smile at her and let my head rest on the pillows again. "Oh, happy birthday!" She says, pulling out a gift.
"Savannah, you didn't have too" I tell her as she shoves it into my hands.
"Open it" She says excitedly. I gently tear the paper to see a beautiful card and beneath it, a phone case with a picture of all of the cast together on the back.
"Sav! This is amazing. How did you do the photo?" I ask her in disbelief.
"You'll never know" She says cheekily. I glare at her playfully and she laughs.
"How's filming going?" I ask her.
"We actually stopped, for a little bit, while you were out. Kenny wanted us all to have some time to ourselves and just quietly, I think it was for Charlie over anyone else" She whispers. I giggle at her sudden change in tone.
"Why just him?" I ask her, confused.
"I think he took it the hardest. He was convinced for days that it was his fault and that if he was with you, he could've protected you. He stood outside your apartment for 15 minutes that first night, contemplating whether or not he should actually go in" She tells me. "And then he began spending every waking moment here, with you, because he couldn't bare to see you by yourself and I don't think he liked being in the apartment knowing that you won't be there"
"Wow" I mumble.
"He loves you, Sky" She tells me. I cough suddenly.
"Loves me?" I wheeze. She nods and I shake my head. "Nope. Nuh-uh. Sorry, not possible"
"Very possible, Skylar. You need to see it through new eyes. He loves you and would do anything to protect you, even it meant him being hurt rather than you" Savannah tells me, placing a hand on my knee. I sit there silent, unsure of what to say. "Also, your brother and Charlie have been texting me non stop so can we just let them up?" She asks me. I giggle. Only they would.
"Yeah" I tell her. She texts them back and they both come waltzing in a few minutes later. "A little needy, are we boys?" I tease
"Only for you" Charlie shoots back cheekily. My cheeks go red. "Also, look to your right" He says. I do and see a small box on my table. Reaching over, I undo the ribbon and my eyes widen when I see a silver necklace with an amethyst on the end of it.
"Wha-? How? Why? When?" I sputter, trying to find the words as I lift it out the necklace. "Charlie! You shouldn't have" I tell him.
"I know, but I wanted to" He says. I smile at him softly.
"Put it on for me?" I ask him sweetly. He gets up without a word and move my hair as he gently clasps it together at the back, his fingers brushing against the back of my neck sending an electrifying feeling down my body. He moves back.
"Beautiful" He tells me. I blush and face my brother.
"Where's my present?" I ask him, teasing.
"Non existent" My brother says back. I pull a face at him and he gives one in return.
"Ok, so we're going to go now" Savannah says, dragging my brother out of the room. I wave to them both as they leave and sigh, letting my head hit the pillows.
"What's on your mind, Sky?" Charlie asks from the chair that is next to my bed. Many, many things.
"So many things. What's going to happen when this is all over, you know? I don't want it to end. You guys are legit my family and I can't stand to think that one day we're all going to part ways and might not see each other ever again" I admit. Charlie gets up and sits on the side of my bed, looking at me.
