..................................................................
We entered the doors of C bar, our second and hopefully last venue of the night. The music pounded so loud, the building vibrated underneath my feet. My heels were starting to hurt, and I just wanted to find a booth to sit down in. Katie, being the party animal she was, was heavily drunk and loving life. Sophie, Lucy and myself were merry, feeding off the buzz of the alcohol in our systems.
"Babe, Rob's calling me. Grab some drinks, and I'll come meet you at the bar." She slipped me twenty dollars, and headed outside. I followed command, and continued over to the bar where Katie was propping herself up.
"Kate, how are you feeling?" I pealed the hair from off her forehead and placed it down her back. Her face was laced with an spirited glow.
"I'm not going to lie, Nay, I think I need some water and to sit down." Her words were slurred, as she closed her eyes and her body swayed.
"Go with Sophie to find a booth and I'll grab you some water OK?" I instructed, signalling for Sophie to come and help take care of her. Sophie placed her hand over Katie's back and I watched as they staggered over to an unoccupied booth. Whilst waiting to be served, I checked my phone for the time. I had two texts and a missed call from Brandon.
Brandon: The show was awesome! I put that down to your well wishes, Naomi. Hope you're taking it slow and enjoying your night!
Brandon: p.s you are always invited to any of our shows from now on. VIP treatment included. (Yes, this does include taking selfies with the hot lead singer!)
I couldn't help but grin at how informally informal he was over text. I could imagine him saying every word.
Me: I'm happy to hear the show went well. I feel like I've missed out. Although the atmosphere of C bar tonight would give you a run for your money. As for the lifetime membership to the killers fanbase, I may take you up on that. Selfies included. ;)
I placed my phone back into my bag and carelessly looked around the venue. The bar was full of people, mainly of the younger generation. Bright lights danced and thumping music echoed throughout the halls, with many people dancing their troubles away on the lit up dance floor. It gave an almost nightclub feel.
"Sorry Nay, they were already on their way." I looked over my shoulder to see Lucy standing behind me with an apologetic look on her face. Behind her was Rob, Daniel and their other friend Logan all grouped together.
"Oh no, that's fine. The more the merrier. Katie and Soph are sat in a booth over there. I'll bring the drinks over to you."
"No, I'll help you carry them. What you getting?" She questioned, slipping in next to me. We ordered multiple drinks for everyone, ranging from beers, cocktails to wine and a glass of water for Katie. We ended up having to switch booths to a slightly bigger one located towards the back of the room, as now there were seven of us ready to enjoy a shot of the night.
We were all sat around a circular table idly chatting away and casually singing along to certain songs that blasted from the speakers. At one point, Sophie had got up to use the bathroom, leaving the spot next to me vacant. Within seconds, Daniel shimmied his way next to me. He had been making eyes at me all night so I knew it was only a matter of time. He was obviously attractive: with dark hair and bright blue eyes.
"Hey Naomi. How are you? You enjoying your night?"
"Yeah, it's not been too bad thanks. How was the gig?" Within one question, I had turned this around to make the guy I was actually thinking about the topic of conversation. It wasn't unnoticed that I was talking to the guy I was about to go on a date with, about the guy I wish I was going on a date with. Maybe in another life.
