the flames that burn with no light

86 3 2

Flames erupt,

Burning bright, though with no light

The nose burns first

Then the lungs

Until you’re scorched

Inside and out

This hell we brought upon ourselves

They say its more mercy than we deserve

For choosing this religion,

For making this one mistake

We die in this merciless well

They say it will be water

Gas leaks out

We hope for a mistake

Until the flames erupt,

The flames that burn with no light

Up and down, and down and up

The flames lick us to death

Until we turn to ash inside

And still, sometimes we live

This hell we brought upon ourselves

They say its more mercy than we deserve

For choosing this religion

For making this one mistake

We die in this merciless well
