A/N - These will sometimes be at the beginning, but mainly the end of each chapter. It'll probably only be in the beginning so I can tell you who or what is in the picture to the side (if there's one for that chapter). Anime version of Ciel above or to the side. The cover is of a real life version of him.
Chapter 1 _Runt_
I cower in a corner as nekos from my litter pass by me. I'm trying to look as invisible as possible so I can hopefully avoid another beating.
This morning, I woke up late and got dragged out of my room and into a puddle of mud in the front yard. The worst part, is that my "father" dragged me by my tail and stepped on it after repeatedly kicking me in the stomach. Well, that and I'm still in my pajamas covered in mud.
I cleaned up the best I could in the school restroom, but it's practically impossible to miss the fact that I'm wearing a button up pajama shirt with kitties all over and matching pajama pants accompanied by the bunny slippers on my tiny feet. The sad thing is that this isn't my worst day ever.
Am I rambling? No, no, no, this is just me talking to myself and I. Yeah, they're the only ones that listen and sorta kinda care for me. I have no friends and my family isn't exactly my family anymore.
You see, when I was born, I wasn-
"Hello Ciel." Brad says out of nowhere.
I'll have to tell you some other time myself and I. I'm sorry I can't tell you right now, but I'm in big big trouble.
"Ew, don't talk to the runt. You'll get weak and your rank in the litter will drop just by looking at it." His girlfriend and my sister, Larissa, tells him.
"Babe, I'm not that weak. He won't affect me. Plus, he's your little brother. You can just have your dad kick him out of the litter if it bothers you that much." He says before kissing her cheek.
"He's not worthy to be my brother! Don't ever say that again!" Larissa screeches.
I'm halfway to class, when Brad's best friend, Christopher, spots me trying to sneak away. He pokes Brad's shoulder and points at me.
I make a break for it.
"Hey, myself and I. Thanks for running with me. It must be tiring to have to come with me, but I'm really grateful." I mutter under my breath.
I make it to my class a minute before the late bell rings and ten seconds after my pursuers round the corner.
At first, I'm reveling in the sweet relief of getting away for now with my hand on my knees, eyes to the ground, and my breath going in and out of my lungs in short pants. Then, I feel all the judgmental stares pierce my body and slowly kill my relief.
I straighten slowly, trying to at least be slightly prepared for all the disgust and hate filled eyes directed at me.
"Have a seat Mr. Avin. You're holding up the class." My language arts teacher, Mrs. Poult, tells me sternly.
I nod, happy that she didn't ask me about my appearance and walk to the one empty desk in the back of the class. No one but me sits there. Everyone else was scared to get weaker by touching something that I had touched. That's also why there's also one empty desk between my own desk and everyone else's.
Since I have nothing with me, I try to remember as much of the lesson as possible. It's out of the question to ask someone for a piece of paper and a pencil, and I would miss some of the lesson if I asked to go get some supplies from my locker.

My stomach growls for food as my nose picks up the smells coming from the cafeteria. I hadn't had breakfast, and I don't bring lunch to school or have any money.
I force myself to walk past the cafeteria doors and instead go through the doors to the front of the school. I look for the tree I usually sit under, but Brad, Christopher, Larissa and two of his other friends were there.
I backtrack and run like a madman to the library.
Locked.
I go for the janitor's closet next, but hear something I really don't want to barge in on. My last choice is the bathroom because it's so painfully the most obvious place to check, but I have no other options. My mad dash continues until I reach the restroom and a perfect hiding spot pops into my head.
The vents.
I jumped in after using my claws to take out the screws and remove the cover thingy. Then, I do my best to put it back. Unfortunately, I'm stuck holding it up for fear of it falling and alerting them where I am.
