“Cute,” I answered with a bit of a mouth full. I swallowed and answered, “Cute enough I lose concentration at times. But a little standoffish. I’m guessing he’s got the business is business attitude. But,” I wiped my mouth with my napkin.

“But?” Mark slowly gave me a look.

“But, there are times he looks at me, you know, in that way.” I covered my embarrassment with another bite.

“That way, how?” The glint in his eye told me he wasn’t going to drop it.

“Well , I think he’s distracted by me sometimes too, but I’m not sure.”

“Really? That’s an interesting problem to have. What are you going to do about it?”

“Nothing. I want the job to last through the summer, and maybe later after I graduate. I’m going to need to work somewhere. Peter’s been hinting that the project could take a few years.”

“Already on a first name basis. That is always a good start.” Mark took a sip of his coffee.

“He did insist I call him by his first name.”

“That’s a good sign. He must be interested then.”

“I’m not sure about that. I mean, he could just be nice?”

Mark gave me a stern look. “Honey, no man wants you calling him by his first name unless he’s interested. He’d keep it to Mr. Mason if he wanted just business.”

“You mean, he could be interested?” My voice cracked slightly as I inverted the question in my voice.

“I’m guessing a maybe. The question is, are you?”

I sipped my coffee before answering since I wasn’t sure of the reply. “I might be.”

“That’s a start. Now, we’ll have to come up with a plan to see if he’s interested. That’s where I can give some tips. I think I’m going to have to give a you a crash course of flirting with a man.”

“I’m not very good at that.”

“Yes, well, we book worms have got to stick together. We’ll start with what you’re wearing. I think a make-over is in order.”

I looked at my simple long skirt and button up light blue blouse. “What’s wrong with this?”

“Everything. You’re not going to grab his attention, dear. Now, we should go shopping for a few extras, and then there’s your make-up.”

Here it comes. I felt like I was becoming Mark’s next project. “What is wrong with my make-up?”

“Nothing I can’t show you. It’s a good thing I’ve been working at Macy’s long enough to help you now. Finish your coffee. We’re off on a crazy shopping spree. Stat.”

***End of Part 5***

Thank you for reading my story. I plan to write a chapter a week, posting on Fridays and sometimes Wed. It's exciting to be writing a New Adult Novel. Wattpad is a new experience. Any tips and comments would help.

I also have another novelette series called Beware of Warlocks available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Plus, I'm in the middle of writing a time travel romance. All the information is available on my website. I enjoy any feedback and comments, and will read them all. I'd love to get comments on how I can improve any part of the story. It's part of why I find Wattpad so attractive. It will be great interacting with you and other readers as I go through the process of writing "Saving My Heart". Thank you for all of the support. I look forward to reading your comments!
