Eli POV
Now being 24 weeks pregnant, Nick is much bigger. I've kept my distance because I know it will only hurt more if I stay close. We still share a bed and do stuff together but other than that I stay away.
Darren and Hannah have tried talking to me about it, telling me to be with him. They know my worries and reassure me everything will be ok, but deep down everyone knows it won't be. I haven't felt the baby kick like everyone else, I don't sit with them to laugh and joke around.
It's like they can't see what's going on. Nicks becoming more pale and his cheeks are starting to become hollow. He's getting skinnier and they still laugh like it's nothing. It's getting so much harder for me to stay back and let it happen, to sit and watch him die slowly.
It feels like him losing his memories all over again. Except this time there is no guarantee that I will never see him again. If nick dies he's going to heaven, there is no doubt about that. Not only that but I will have to go on knowing it was me who sent him to an early grave.
"When do you get to find out the gender?" Hannah asked nick while her hand was on his bump.
"I don't want to find out yet. I want to wait until the baby is here to know the gender." My husband smiled and laid his head back.
"What do you want Eli?" Hannah looked at me.
"For nick to be ok." I stubbornly said.
"Eli." Darren said in a warning tone. I just shook my head and turned my gaze to the tv.
"I'm going out." I sighed and left the house. I just walked the streets until I came across a baby shop. I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a ornament. It immediately caught me eye so I stopped to look at it more.
"Can I help you?" A young girl walked out.
"Not really. Just looking." I replied.
"Expecting?" She asked.
"Yeah. It's a bit complicated really." I chuckled a little.
"Not together?"
"Yeah, we're married but it's still a bit complicated."
"Wow, you're so young." She breathed out.
"A lot older than I look." I chuckled.
"Oh. Well I'll be in the shop if you need anything." She smiled a little before going back inside.
I looked back at the ornament and shook my head. Closing my eyes, I just went inside and picked it up. Once I paid for it, I went back home. Hannah, Darren, Lexi, Brandon and Carl was in the living room but nick wasn't.
"He's gone for a nap." Hannah told me. I nodded and went up to our room. Stood by the window looking out of it was nick with a mug in his hands.
He wore one of my T-shirt's that still went down to his knees even with his bump.
"Hannah said you went for a nap." I broke the silence after a while.
"Couldn't sleep." He sighed.
I put the bag on our bed then went over to him. Wrapping my arms around him and placing my hands on his bump. The first time feeling it and it's so strange. Not in a bad way but I've never felt someone pregnant before so it's all very much new to me.
I pecked his neck a few times before placing my chin on his shoulder.
"I love you, I hope you know that." I told him.
"Yeah, I know. The day you married me told me that." Nick smiled a little and looked at his ring. "I love you to."
All of a sudden I felt a strong push on my hand. "Oh." Nick winced a little. "And so does this little one." He laughed a little.
A small smile formed on my face. After that we just stood in silence. Small pushes were on my hand where I had it on nicks bump.
"He really likes you." He rubbed my hands with one of his, the other still holding the cup.
"How do you know it's a he?" I asked.
"Just a guess. Whenever I think of it I just see a baby boy. And the time when you made me see us as a family, there was a little boy." Nick smiled. "What did you get?"
"Nothing important. Just a new T-shirt I liked." I lied. Nick slipped from my arms and went over to the bed. Before he could I pulled him back and wrapped my arms and wings around him.
"What are you hiding from me?" He giggled.
"Nothing. It's a T-shirt and I don't want you taking it. You've got all my other ones." I chuckled and pulled at the T-shirt to prove my point.
"Alright." He sighed but with a smile. "I believe. I'm going to get another drink and sit with the others."
"Nope." I stopped him again. "We're going to take a nap. I can see you're tired so you can have a couple hours sleep. I'll lay with you as well."
"Ok." He smiled a little. I took the cup from his hands making it disappear to the kitchen again. My wings retracted and I let nick go to our bed. When he laid down I grabbed the bag and took it into the walk in wardrobe.
I took it out of the bag and looked at it. Hanging from my finger was angel wings made from glass. After putting it back in the box and hiding it, I changed into some joggers then joined nick on the bed.
My arms wrapped around him and pulled him to my chest.
"I've got a name for the baby if it's a boy." Nick turned to me. I hummed telling him to continue. "Elijah Nikolai Hale. Elijah because it has your name in it as well but it's not quite and my name as the middle. Then hale so we'll all have it."
"Whatever you want." I told him.
"Eli, if anything does happen to me, you have to promise to take care of him."
"Nick I don't want anything to happen to you. That's why I told you to get rid of it." I sighed.
"Please Eli. Promise me."
Hesitantly I nodded making nick smile a little. He leaned up and kissed me softly. After that, nick laid back down and closed his eyes.
"Please don't leave me." I whispered to him when I knew he was asleep.
