Just Fake It

Fake a laugh,

Force a smile,

A Make believe game,

You've played for a while.

With pretty words,

And perfect grades,

No one would doubt you,

Anyway.

Knee-high boots,

A sweater dress,

Perfect make-up,

That hides the rest.

Friends with everyone,

Always out,

Never once telling them,

What you're really about.

Dirty little secrets,

You're way too scared to tell,

The scars on your wrists

You hide them well.

Tormenting dreams,

That make you cry,

You relive the nightmares,

Of the day your childhood died.

Swollen red eyes,

And a throbbing wrist,

A simple wish,

That you didn't live like this.

But it's a new day,

Time for round two,

To cover the hurt in make-up,

Like you always do.
