Yeonjun's POV:
I'm nervous. I lied to him. But, it was a good lie, I hope. I told him I'll be coming back in two weeks, but in reality, I'm coming back a lot sooner. I'm coming the night before Soobin's birthday, and I just wanted to surprise him. That's why I lied... I hope he's not mad at me.
Meeting my parents at the train station was emotional. The train ride back to Daegu was anxious. Everyone kept thanking me since I was wearing my uniform, the dark green camo uniform with my tan boots and the same green camo colored hat. I smiled when I saw them outside the window, watching them frantically look for me. My parents were already crying before I was able to get to them. They both hugged me before I was able to bow to them, repeating over and over how proud of me they were. I couldn't hold myself back from tears and started sobbing. It was so embarrassing to cry in front of that many people, but I knew I would've cried harder if it was Soobin.
As soon as I pulled away, I asked about Soobin. I just wanted to know if he was ok, that's all I needed. They said he was excited to finally see me, but sad that I couldn't be there for his birthday, but they reassured him. They know I'll be surprising him and the rest of our families and they helped me set the whole thing up. I hope the plan goes through. It feels so wrong staying at my parents house for the night while he's alone, just a few blocks down the road. That's what hurt the most, but at least I knew he was ok.
My parents drove me straight to Taehyun's house so I could talk to Beomgyu, and I bought a bouquet of flowers at the train station for him. As soon as I got to the door, I took a deep breath before ringing the doorbell. I heard shuffling towards the door and my heart almost stopped. I was terrified. I'm the one who was supposed to protect his husband. I promised him. And I broke that promise.
He opened the door, I instantly recognized him from the pictures Taehyun has shown me, noticing his head tilting to the side when he saw me. I bit my lip as I took the hat off my head, putting it against my chest as I knelt down in front of him.
He seemed confused since he asked, "Are you Yeonjun-ssi?" As I placed the flowers in front of him on the porch.
I nodded as I lowered my head out of respect, quiet replying, "I'm sorry... I was supposed to protect Taehyun... I'm so sorry."
He took a step out onto his porch before saying, "Yeonjun-ssi..." In a soft voice, causing me to look up at him with my glossed over eyes, "I'm so sorry, I didn't get the chance to tell Soobin-ssi... He's home."
My breath hitched before I replied, "W-What?... H-He's ok?"
He softly smiled, "Taehyunnie came back last night... I only found out that he was alright and coming home a few hours before he arrived at the train station. I'm so sorry, I was just so overwhelmed and I completely forgot to call Soobin-ssi."
I shook my head as I felt the tears coming, "I-I thought he w-was gone because of m-me."
"He said he needed to have surgery and he lost a lot of blood, but he's totally fine... His arm is just in a sling... He said you saved him... Thank you for saving my husband. I owe you the world for that."
I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to hold back my tears, but I felt the warm drops sliding down my cheeks, "I-I thought h-he was d—" I couldn't finish my sentence as I let out a sob. I closed my eyes and felt Beomgyu's arms wrap around me.
"Tae's ok... He's alright. I'll go get him, ok?"
"Yeonjun-hyung?" I heard a voice say from a distance, causing me to pick my head up. I felt Beomgyu pull away from me and turn in the same direction, both of us looking at Taehyun walking towards us.
