Yang didn’t show up for lunch in the cafeteria, and neither did Weiss. Ruby was there but she wasn’t her normal quirky self, and she left as soon as the meal was over.

Jaune: “Y’know, Team RWBY’s bumming, is bumming us out”, he gestured to the rest of his team, as they walked together through the courtyard, heading towards the dorms after a rough school day.

Kai: “I’m going to try to fix that. We should probably do some activities together. But the question is what?”

Nora: “Oh I know! We could hold a pancake eating contest!”

Ren: “No one is doing that Nora”

Nora: “We could go diving off the top of Beacon tower!”

Ren: “Again Nora, not doing that”

Nora: “Oh I’ve got it! We can go out and wrestle ALL the Ursa we can find!”

Ren: “Nora!”

Nora: “Sorry Ren”

Pyrrah: “Something not so overwhelming would be nice.”

Jaune: “We could always play Spin the Bottle. What better way to get to know each other, than by ‘locking lips’?”

Kai: “Uuuuuhhhh….” As Kai struggled to find a good answer to that question, he spotted Yang all by herself on the balcony of one of the school buildings not too far away, “Uh you know what, just gather everyone at Team JNPR’s room. You guys get Ruby and Weiss. Kidnap them if you have to. I’ll get Yang.” And with that he headed off in the direction of the building.

Yang was startled to see Kai suddenly jump from the ground to the second floor balcony (with the help of his semblance of course) and land right next to her, “Kai…what are you doing here?”

Kai: “Could ask the same about you. Missed you at lunch today…”

Yang: “Oh I just…wasn’t hungry”

Kai: “Look Yang, I know something’s wrong. You can talk to me”. Yang looked away. Kai sighed and leaned on the balcony next to her, “Or we just can stay like this. That’s fine too I guess.”

About 30 minutes passed, before Yang finally spoke, “I just feel like, no one really sees me as a huntress”

Kai: “Hmm, what do you mean?”

Yang: “Well take Professor Port for example, I mean he was shooting me weird signals in that class”

Kai: “Yeah, I noticed…”

Yang: “Yeah but why? The answer is, when most people look at me, they don’t really see a huntress. They just see a pretty blonde girl who probably likes to party”.

Kai smiled, “You just called yourself pretty, a little conceited don’t you think?”. Yang grinned back, “Well I am pretty hot”. They both laughed. Yang continued, “Anyway, it’s like, as a huntress I’m not being taken seriously. My dad was happy when he found out I wanted to become a huntress, but he was also pretty surprised. Sure I do like going to parties and all, but there’s more to me that just that y’know”

Kai nodded. He had seen firsthand how quickly Yang could become gung-ho, and her strength and skills were no joke either. Underestimating her just because of how she looked would be a fatal mistake. And on that note…

Kai: “I’m sorry”

Yang: “What for?”

Kai: “I’m also guilty of looking at you that way. When I first saw you on the airship, and later on at that sleepover, I remember thinking something like, ‘This girl looks like someone who just came here to flirt with cute boys and go to parties all night’”
