Dear Amanda

I remember that time we skipped school together in 9th grade.

You had been ignoring me for two days because I kissed some girl at a party that you didn't like. I'm still really sorry about that.

I saw you walking off campus after second period. You walked down the street, I followed you with my car.

I tried to convince you to get in, and when you finally did, we drove down to the beach.

We hung out there all afternoon. I still have that Polaroid picture you took when we were watching the sunset and you kissed my cheek.

I have it my wallet, I still feel warm inside every time I look at it.

Those were the days I will miss the most. When we just enjoyed each other's presence. Just being close to you made me happy. I didn't need to touch you or talk to you, only knowing that you were close enough for me to hear your quiet humming was enough.

No matter how many times I tell you this, you tell me I'm crazy. But you do hum every time you're quiet. Only loud enough for you to hear, it's like your blood pumps rhythm and you breathe melody. You're heartbeat was and will always, be music to my ears.

Love Colin
