It was now lunch so Lexi and I sat at a table in the far corner of the atrium. It was crowded with friends wanting to catch up with what they did over the summer.
Of course I stayed home and drank the whole six weeks off. Yes, six weeks. That's how long students in England get off for summer. It's shit to be honest but it doesn't matter. I just drink and drink and end up in a hell cell to get sober for the last two weeks of it. Lucifer being good old father makes sure to keep me in check.
That's partly why I have Lexi as well. Lucifer made sure she keeps me in check at school seeing as she fits in with her age. Lucifer would do it himself but he looks in his mid 30's, therefore signing Lexi to do it for him.
Not going to lie I absolutely hated Lexi, all she would do was talk and whine that I was walking too fast. Then after two years of it, I snapped at her. Only to be smacked in the face and told off. Yeah it was then Lexi became my best friend because she's the only one to actually hit me. Even lucifer wouldn't do that because he knows how angry I get.
But here we are, fucking 214 years of being friends. But Lexi and I have a lot in common. She likes food, I like food, she likes wolves, I like wolves. Just not werewolves, horrible creatures but are sure beautiful to look at.
Other than my anger, Lexi and I are very similar. That is why I love the small girl to my right. Lexi was talking to me until she stopped and I smelt the scent of a boy stood by our table.
"Hello." A chirpy voice sounded. "Can I sit here? I'm new and don't have any friends."
"No." I mumbled.
"Sorry about him, he's a grumpy pants." Lexi rolled her eyes. "I'm Lexi. Please take a seat."
"Thank you." The boy sat down. "I'm Nikolai but everyone calls me Nick."
"So nick, what brings you to Halledale college?" Lexi started conversation with him.
"Uh, art really. I like drawing, it kind of gives me an escape really. Like reading and things like that. So I'm here to uh, make myself better." Nikolai shyly said.
"That's cool. Mr grumpy likes to draw as well. Can I see what you have?"
Nikolai nodded and picked up his bag from the floor next to him. He pulled out a sketchbook and handed it to Lexi.
"This is amazing, Nick. You don't need to have anymore lessons on being better, trust me, this is just as good as Eli's." She smiled brightly at him.
Just then, Lexi put the book on the table in front of me making sure I could see it.
"Look, Eli. It's the devil." She giggled. Damn child makes me want to strangle her sometimes, but Lexi has good intentions and I love her so I don't.
All I did was nod then look around the room. Then I felt my bag being taken from by my feet and on to the table. Lexi took my sketchbook out which I sent her a glare for her to stop.
"Here, this is Eli's book. He likes to paint as well as draw so there's a mixture in there." She told him.
"Uh, I don't think your boyfriend likes that idea." Nikolai blushed a little. "Uh, it's ok. I don't really need to see it."
"It's drawings that you're both into. Well the art side of it anyway. Ignore him he's just a grumpy old bastard, I'll sort him out later." Lexi handed him the book. "Oh, and he's not my boyfriend. He's more of a brother who looks after me but I make sure to keep him in check. Fathers orders."
"Oh, sorry, I just assumed. I'm sorry."
"It's ok. Now take the book and have a look. Eli doesn't mind, right Eli?" Lexi leaned on me.
"Yes." I spat out.
"Fucking arsehole. Stop being a dick and let him have a look. You've seen his so it's only fair." She rolled her eyes.
I took a deep breath then mumbled, "whatever." Lexi squealed then handed Nikolai my sketchbook.
"Wow." He breathed out as he flicked through it. Each page he turned carefully and admired it for a minute or two maximum. "These are amazing."
I nodded then picked his up. Nikolai gulped and looked at me as I flicked through his book. It was very much supernatural drawings but mostly the devil and demons.
"They're not as good as yours." He mumbled and pushed my book back to me.
I nodded and gave his back to. His cheeks flushed as he put his book back in his bag while I did the same.
"You two should totally do drawing study dates and stuff. Draw stuff you like then compare it and see who's is better." Lexi suggested.
"Uh, w-well-," Nikolai started.
"No." I said then stood as the bell rang. I grabbed my bag and Lexi's and walked off. I could hear her mutter a quick apology to Nikolai then ran after me.
"You are an arsehole." She slapped my back. "You can't even be friends with one more person."
The hallway was empty when I came to a stop. I stalked up to Lexi and pushed her against the wall.
"Because I can't go through losing someone again. It's better to be alone than see people die all the time. Most of the time they go to heaven and they can't come back like we get to. Lex you know I love you, but you should also know why I'm like this. It's best to keep our distance so we don't get hurt in the end. We just need to be here to pass the time, no friends. And no more asking for more friends because they always leave, they go to heaven or stay in hell. It's only you and me. Ok? I know it's fucking shit but that's how it goes. Now let's to class because we're already late." I sighed.
Lexi nodded and put her head down. I picked her up and started to go to our next class, maths.
