Sera climbed onto her bed like a brick with her face lying down after a long-lasting day, without even changing to her pajamas first

She thought that she would succumb into sleep immediately once she shut her eyes, but thirty minutes had passed — she was still awake. Why can't I sleep?

Restless, she took off her blazer and let her hair down by removing the hairband, and went to the bathroom. She washed her face with ice-cold water, when all of a sudden, John's words echoed in her head

"Yeah... even if it's you"

The water streamed down the sink uninterrupted. Thinking back to it, her heart skipped a beat once more. She clenched her heart, not knowing what it is that she's experiencing right now. When was the last time my heart beats this fast? She asked herself

Even since she was young, engaging in fights never startled her, nor does worrying for a bad grade made her nervous. Weather it was her immense confidence, or the obsession of being perfect, her heart never raced like this

Sera stared her own reflection on the mirror with curiosity written on her face, with that focused gaze of hers

"Did I say something wrong again? Your face is red"

She touched both her cheeks with the tip of her fingers. My face was red...? Why? She wondered, but the thought was going nowhere. After a deep sigh, she went back to her bed with her pajamas

.

.

"...even if it's you"

It echoed again. It's not like she needed any protection in the first place, yet somehow... her chest felt lighter. No one has ever given Sera an ounce of hint that they're worried for her. But maybe I'm just exaggerating. He probably was just talking nonsense, unaware of it himself

But sometimes, it's when the person doesn't realize what they're talking about — is when it has a deeper meaning. It means it's their natural instinct to say those words

*tap...tap...taptaptaptap*

The sound of the rain tapped on the windows, creating a calm and soothing noise in the room, making her easily fall into a deep sleep
