It was a quiet, July Saturday morning. The day was dark and cloudy, it had been raining all night.

10 year old Sabrina Griffin was sat at the breakfast table, eating her mother's homemade sausage and eggs. It was an early morning, 8:30am to be exact. Sabrina's father came running in.

"Sabrina! Sabrina! It's here!", he exclaimed with such excitement, she already knew what was going on.

Sabrina's father handed her a letter that had arrived. She quickly snatched it and opened it with such speed, she barely saw the envelope.

Inside the envelope, she found a letter, but not just any letter, THE letter. The letter she had been waiting for since she had first heard about the most magical and wonderful school in all of England: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

A small gasp escaped her lips as she began to read:

Dear Ms. Griffin,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress

Sabrina couldn't believe it. She found the list of books and equipment she would need for the term. She handed it to her father, who looked it over. He then handed it to her mother, who noticed Sabrina's excitement.

"We'll head to Diagon Alley on the 1st of August.", she stated.

Sabrina was bouncing with a smile that reached both ends of her cheeks. "I can't wait!"

Mr. Griffin smiled at his daughter's excitement and kissed her forehead. "You're going to have so much fun, trust me. I still remember my time at Hogwarts as if it were yesterday. Don't you, Anna?", he asked his wife.

Mrs. Griffin nodded with a small smile, "Of course I do, Greg. That is where we met, after all.", she said, walking over to her husband.

Sabrina smiled at the pair. She already anticipated all the experiences she would have in her first year at Hogwarts. For now, she was most anxious to know what house she would be sorted in.

The Griffins were a family of mostly Gryffindors. There have been a few Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs here and there, but no Slytherins. She strongly hoped to make it into Gryffindor. She felt that it would best suit her anyways.

Ever since she was a little girl, she had shown many signs of bravery. One time when she was 7, she found a cat on top of a tree, and without hesitation, she started climbing like a spider all the way up to rescue it, not bothering to look down. Her parents anxiously called for her to come back down, but she didn't listen. She ended up rescuing the cat, but fell from the tree right after. Her father was able to catch her just in time, but the whole situation just made young Sabrina laugh.

"Mom, dad, what if I'm not put in Gryffindor?", she asked, nervously. Mr. and Mrs. Griffin exchanged glances and smiled at the young girl.

"We will love you all the same. No one said you have to be in Gryffindor, but either way, it doesn't matter. Your mother and I are sure you'll be a Gryffindor.", said Mr. Griffin, putting his arm around his wife.

Sabrina exhaled with a soft nod. She was sure they were right. She was sure she would be in Gryffindor. As long as she wasn't in Slytherin, she figured she would be fine.
