Rooming with Solange was great. We both had common interest to keep a conversation going so there was never an awkward silence between us. I wasn't exactly the friendly type, but I had a few friends who in time they became Solange's friends too. There wasn't that awkward moment when you bring a friend along and everyone just stares at her like an alien or something. We all clicked perfectly and it sure made things easier.

One great thing was that we never brought other people to the room. It was a sanctuary for when we needed to hide from the outside world, and we intended to keep it that way. I dated a lot in high school, since it was high school after all. One was expected to be outgoing, at least the high school I attended. Sex was great, but lately I couldn't warm up to anyone to the point of being in a relationship. All I wanted now was to be friends and take everything with ease.

Of course just because I liked boys didn't mean I had to have a man at my side at all times. I never liked the stereotype that girls are nothing without a man. Ridiculous. Also since photography took all of my time, I had no time for a relationship. Too much hassle, if you ask me. I noticed that Solange didn't date either. Her research took most of her time, and she didnt complain in the least. Life was great at the moment, and guys could wait.

We were kicking back at the roof top one evening, when all of the sudden Sol turned to me and said, "You don't date." It was more of a statement than a question.

I laughed and just took another picture of the clock tower, "No time."

Sol looked at me curiously. She looked at me the way she would always look when she wasn't satisfied with the answer I had given her. The way she cocked her head and how her lips were in a thoughtful pout just made me want to hug her. She was just that damn cute, although I could do without the glasses.

I turned to face her and snapped a picture of her thoughtful face. The surprise on her face was hilarious, so I snapped another shot. "How can I date with you around? Seriously, you're like an attention hound with those puppy eyes." I said as I snapped another shot yet again.

She stood up and walked to the other side, an evident blush on her face. I chuckled and took more shots of our surroundings. Sol came back to sit next to me and stick out her tongue. She just smiled as she studied her board and said, "Ok then."

We had become best friends, and that simple answer was enough.
