Chapter 121

A lot of people came to the hospital to see Bri & the baby - Tyreke, Tyrell, Jennifer, some of Bri's students, some people she met in Atlanta, and all of my teammates & Doc. It was nice but now, we get to go home and I couldn't be happier.

When we got home, we went in the living room and all of our family & friends were here and there was a "Welcome Home Brielle" banner hanging up.

"Aww, you guys!" Bri started crying and I just put my arm around her.

"Everybody, we have to be a little...sensitive to Briana's feelings. The doctor said she's gonna be a little overemotional the next few days," I said.

"It's not my fault," Bri said, defending herself, "she said it's common for new mothers to have mood swings."

No one said or did anything; they just stared at her, making her cry again. "Why are y'all staring at me?"

"Y-you were just talking," Deshawn said carefully.

"Oh, right. Thanks for listening," she said.

She sat on the couch and Deshawn looked at me like he was terrified, which made me laugh.

"Was that a mood swing?" he asked, making sure Bri didn't hear him.

"Ohhh yeah."

Brielle was still in her carrier, so I set her in front of Briana.

"Bri, your students made you a card," Jordan said, sitting next to her.

Monique handed Bri a folded piece of paper and after she read it, her eyes watered. In her defense, it was a cute card.

After an hour & a half, everyone left except our parents, the boys, Monique & DJ. Brielle started crying, so I figured now would be the perfect time for Bri to finally see the nursery.

"Aww, Blake! I love it," she said, walking into the room.

"I'm glad you do." I smiled and kissed the top of her head.

I watched her change mini Bri's diaper, then we went back downstairs with everyone else.

"Bri, someone sent you a gift for the baby," Monique said, gesturing to the basket on the table.

She gave Brielle to me and looked at the basket to see if she could find out who it was from. She eventually found a note and as she read it, her eyes began to water and she looked petrified.

When I found the note in the basket and read it over, I panicked. This always happens right when something good happens in my life.

I looked at the note again and it said:

I heard you were having a baby. Congratulations. When I get out, and you know I will, maybe I'll get to meet him or her.

Sincerely,
You Know Who

I let the paper fall to the floor as tears rapidly rolled down my face.

"Mo...Monique, do you know who sent this?" I asked.

"Bri, what's wrong?" she asked.

"Can someone just get rid of this, please," I said, pointing at the basket.

"Briana, what's wrong?" Blake asked, trying to study my facial expression.

"It's from him," I said, making everyone stare at me.

"From who?"

"Cur-Curtis."

I'm so glad our parents and the boys were in another room because I can't afford to have my parents go ape shit again.

"DJ, can you put this in the trash?" Blake asked.

As DJ was carrying the basket to the trash, my phone rang. Stupidly, I answered it without looking to see who it was.

"Hello?"

???: did you get my gift?

My eyes watered up heavily, I dropped my phone and ran upstairs. I went to the bedroom, shut the door and cried.

Why is this happening?

"Monique, can you take her for a minute?"

"Yeah."

She took Brielle and I went upstairs to check on Briana. I opened the door to our bedroom and I saw her sitting on the floor, crying.

"Bri?"

"Blake, I'm scared," she said quietly.

I don't like seeing her like this. I mean for fuck's sake, she just had a baby. She should be happy, but instead she's crying because this asshole thinks this shit is a joke.

I walked in, sat next to her and held her because I felt like that's all I really could do.

"What am I gonna do?" she asked into my chest.

I can't even tell her that I'll protect her because every time I say it, something happens to her.

"He's gonna come find me and he's gonna do it again," she cried.

"No, he's not. We're not gonna let anything happen to you, alright?"

She sniffled and nodded her head slowly. After just sitting there for fifteen minutes, she fell asleep, I put her in the bed and then went downstairs so I could talk to everyone.

There is no way in hell I'm gonna let her get hurt again.
