I saw an old man sitting alone on a park bench and I sat next to him and listened to him talk about his beautiful, late wife, his amazing children and his adorable grandchildren. His 50 years at the same job and how much he loved his job and how, on that last day, once he left, how he felt forgotten, having to go back to his tiny apartment, by himself.

He turned and looked at me and asked, "Why did you sit with me?"

I smiled and said, "I wanted you to know you are not alone."
