44. The Most Awkward Conversation In History
I searched for Aaron in the courtyard the next day at lunch. When I got home the previous day I decided I'd just ask him what he was up to and spare myself the task of wondering. I could wear him down maybe?
Ugh, I sound clingy and needy.
I spotted him leaning on the brick wall, talking to Justin, and so I marched over there immediately.
He saw me approaching. "He-"
"Where do you up and go to?" I asked. "Don't lie to me."
He looked at Justin, eyebrows raised, and then looked back at me with a chuckle. "Morgan, I told you that it's -"
"Not important," I finished. "I know. But if it's not then why do you keep disappearing on me?"
"He helps me out," Justin said.
I crossed my arms to over my chest. "With what?"
Justin sighed and then pulled Aaron close to him. "Fine, you caught us Morgan. We're secretly in love."
Aaron rolled his eyes and shook him off. "Get the fuck off me."
I couldn't hide my laugh at that one.
"Look, Morgan, I know you don't like being second place in Aaron's life bu-"
"Second place?" I questioned Justin. "And let me guess, you're first?"
"Well obviously," Justin said. "This is a bromance you can't top."
I chuckled. "Hmm, I think I can though."
"Do you want to fight me woman?" he joked. "Aaron, hold my earrings."
"Okay, stop talking," Aaron told him with a slight shake off his head. "Justin, can I talk to Morgan?"
Justin patted his shoulder. "Of course man, but make it quick, I still have hands to throw."
"Alone," Aaron specified.
Justin huffed. "Just when you think they love you. Alright, I'll be over there."
I laughed as he walked away.
"Sorry about that," Aaron chuckled, though I knew he was only joking. I loved his friendship with Justin and he knew that.
"Are you going to tell me what's going on now?" I asked.
He sighed, and then he held my face in his hands. "Morgan, there's nothing going on okay? Don't worry about me."
"Bu-"
"Morgan?" he chuckled.
I sighed and took his word for it. Maybe I really was just overreacting. "Fine, I won't. I can't help it, but I won't."
He chuckled. "You're cute."
"I know."
"And beautiful," he added.
"Thank you."
His smile widened. "And all mine."
I couldn't help but smile back. How did I get so lucky?
He kissed my forehead and pulled me to his chest in a hug. Sometimes I felt there was a huge set of unspoken words between us. Like we both had a lot to say to each other but were too afraid to. I was at least. There was so much I wanted to tell him but didn't know how to, or was just scared to. Like how I was actually falling in love with him.
"Can we eat now?" he asked.
I looked at the table where Shannon and Sienna had already joined Justin. "Yeah, sure."
