The lavender-haired young man had flinched and turned in Izuku with wide eyes. "Huh..!?" He said under his breath, looking around.
He hummed something quietly and looked at Izuku, obviously scared.
The greenette looked back and stared reassuringly. "Izuk-" Hitoshi's voice cracked slightly and he, unbeknownst to himself, began to cry.
He continued looking around.
"Why would you do something like that!? Are you stupid!?" The voice began to get clearer.
Izuku's eyes widened subtly as he studied Hitoshi's behaviour.
A.. Trigger? He said internally.
He also looked around, spotting Kaminari. Izuku poked Hitoshi's shoulder and pointed to the blond walking towards them.
"Oh my fucking— Why is he upset...? What did I do wrong?" Hitoshi sighed sadly.
Izuku got up and walked towards Kaminari.
"Why are you mad? What happened over there?" The greenette questioned.
"I have to talk to Hitoshi." Kaminari tried to move. "Up-bup-bup! Tell me first!" Izuku beamed.
"It's about Bakugou, please... Please move."
"If it's about Kacchan, why can't I know? We've known eachother since we were in diapers. It shouldn't be a problem, right?"
He said innocently.
"You've known him since you were babies? So you know that he had an abusive mom?" Kaminari pricked a brow curiously.
Izuku nodded.
"Sadly, yes. My mom and I had filed a report, and she eventually got arrested." He said.
"So can you tell me about what you were gonna tell Hitoshi?" The greenette asked kindly again.
Hitoshi stared at the Izuku and hid his small smile as he wiped his tears.
He's so cute.
"Okay, okay! I was just going to ask Hitoshi why he would bring it up to Bakugou in middle school? And y'know, be rude to him." Kaminari stated.
Hitoshi felt his stomach drop. If Izuku found out how rude he was to Bakugou in school, he'd surely never want to talk to him again.
He frowned at the thought and watched the interaction.
"Hitoshi bullied Kacchan?" He turned around and looked at the lavender-haired man curiously.
"In middle school?"
Kaminari nodded, sending a cold stare to Hitoshi.
"Oh." Izuku tilted his head to the side.
"I'm sure you know Kacchan isn't an angel, they had probably both said bad stuff to eachother."
Kaminari stared, a little shocked at the greenette's response.
"Kacchan is my friend, and so is Hitoshi! I can't hate either of them." Izuku smiled.
"I- well yes, but Bakugou still seems real sad about it, and I just wanted to ask Hitoshi why he'd do that! It's a sensitive subject!"
Izuku nodded and blinked slowly.
"Yes, and I agree! Everyone has their faults. And Hitoshi just didn't think before he spoke."
"Now, I'm not justifying talking about sensitive topics; it's definitely not a good thing to do, but middle schoolers can be stupid!" Izuku chirped.
"Bringing up a trigger can seriously hurt someone's mental well being..?" Kaminari stared.
Izuku nodded.
"I know! But you just did that as you were walking towards us. You triggered something in Hitoshi. I thought you would know? Aren't you guys like, best friends?"
"How did I trigger something? I've known Hitoshi since high school, and you've known him for only a couple of days, right? Wouldn't I know more?"
"I've known him for a couple of hours. But you'd be surprised!" Izuku kept up his happy demeanor.
"... All I'm trying to say is that it was ignorant of Hitoshi to talk about it."
"And all I'm trying to say is that they both don't have the best childhood, and that they should make up."
"For the record, Bakugou would always talk about my past and mock me. I just wanted to get back at him," Hitoshi mumbled.
"Your past? Hitoshi, what the hell doesn't that mean!? I think having an abusive mother is worse than whatever your 'past' is like!" Kaminari glared and balled his hands.
Hitoshi stared at Kaminari, confused and saddened.
"How could you say something like that, Denki? Are you being for real right now?" He questioned quietly.
"You didn't even bother to hear about my life. All I heard about was how exciting yours is. Were you really ever my friend?" He frowned.
Izuku squeezed Kaminari's shoulder.
"I don't think you can say that, Denki. You don't know what he's been through, and neither do I. Let's leave this topic alone, okay?" He said sweetly.
The blond stared at Izuku and felt a shiver before walking off.
The greenette skipped over to Hitoshi and gave him a sudden hug. Hitoshi was taken aback a little and hesitantly placed a hand in Izuku's green curls, smiling softly.
"Thanks," he mumbled.
"Hm hm-mpmh!" Izuku's voice was muffled by Hitoshi's jacket.
(He was saying 'no problem'-)
"Can we just sit here for a while? My legs are hurting..." Izuku mumbled into Hitoshi's arm.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, he's actually leaning on me... Why am I getting butterflies in my stomach? Please tell me he isn't gonna fall asleep.
"S-Sure." Hitoshi continued, wrapping his finger around the somewhat springy curls and ruffling them.
"Hitoshi...?"
"Huh."
"Where are we going to... Go? Are we going to just leave them behind and continue on our own, or...?" Izuku kicked at small rocks on the sidewalk.
"What d- what do you wanna do about it? We could see them or not. I'm just not going to talk to Bakugou or Kaminari," he balled his hand up.
"I want to- ow- Hitoshi you're pulling my hair! Ow-" He tapped Hitoshi's hand gently.
"Oh, sorry," He blushed nervously. "As you were saying?"
"I want to group up with them, but we can talk together. Just the two of us! You don't have to pay attention to either of them!"
Hitoshi agreed quietly and continued playing with his hair.
"I just think it'd be better to have company in case we're in a bad situation, y'know?"
"Mhm."
They sat on the floor in a comfortable silence when Izuku felt Hitoshi's body suddenly relax substantially.
Why was he so tense..? He looked up at Hitoshi and saw him with his eyes closed, breathing slowly and evenly.
He actually looked calm.
